Familiar faces!
Steph(bread lady!) James, Matt, Me and Pauly hangin at TGI Jam Factory Melbourne bar! Hello everyone!!
Its me Piper!!!! So sorry I haven't written in so long but its been work work work!! Been saving up all the interesting things for this very entry! There's not loads. Having a brilliant time just not that interesting for you all to read about.
Well for the first time in 6months I find myself alone on the other side of the world. Pauly had to fly home for some very sad news. I certainly do feel as though I've lost half of myself!!!! It feels very strange but I'm glad he got the oppurtunity to make it home. He returns here on Friday thankfully. Not a moment too soon!
Anyway...whats been happening???? Well I'm working lots and lots at TGI Fridays. It has been good but I have to say that it isn't a patch on UK Fridays. (So all of you TGI people stop moaning about it!!!) It is very disorganised and no one is overly crazy except a select few who of course I have befriended!!! I am also chief 'birthday girl' there! No one does the different songs so I have done my best to teach them some of the good'uns to save my sanity
A night out with Pauls workmates
Clockwise from me....Me, Phil, Alastair, Michael, Tony, Stephen and Paul from having to repeat "Happy Birthday" over and over again! I was even made to do one while I was sat at the bar with Matt-having had a few- and in my own clothes! Needless to say the guests probably thought I was some over-zealous inebriated customer who was just short of being thrown out but the manager-Peter-got me a drink for it!!! Yay-a fine payment!
Speaking of Fridays-I have met some great friends already. I won't bore you to list them all but I certainly have been looked after in Pauly's absence! One of my faves is Casey. She's a pretty crazy lady and we've had many very funny nights out after work causing trouble! She has just discovered my ability to take on a dare willingly! Lord help Melbourne! I feel a cow suit moment is nigh though!!!!!!! Not being entirely straight she has taken me out to a few gay places! (Those of you who know me will realise a pattern!!!!) Alot of you may also meet her next year as I'm very pleased to say she is coming to England for a year or so. I think you will all agree I've met my match!!!
Another
Me and some of the girls from work
L-R Casey, Me, Hayley and Autumn. (have better photos which will replace this one when developed!) great girl is Jill-a fellow traveller from Scotland who is now accompanying James up the East Coast. We had a great night out a while back! One of the turning points in my life!! I will now die a happy lady...
...We went to the Neighbours night. Basically a quiz night-not actually very good-full of 18year olds and boistrous lads and.......THE NEIGHBOURS CAST!!!!! Oh my God the most exciting thing ever!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't quite contain my excitement! Look at the photos and you will see me and Toadie, Paul Robinson and Steph Scully!!! James and Matt were there too. We were doin pretty well with the quiz until we realised we had entered all the wrong answers in the wrong boxes!!! DOH!! Anyway I then was made to enter a dancing competition by Matt to win a trip to Sydney. I gave it a go but quickly realised that to win you needed to be a complete neanderthol (how do you spell that??) Very very funny though. When it came to the voting part there were standing ovations and whistles and "yeahs!" for every contender......except me!! haha!! I do recall a few coughs and awkward shifting of chairs and I'm
Toadfish!!!!!
Wow! A photo with a Legend! (No not Snoxell!! Toadie!!!!) sure I noticed a piece of tumbleweed traversing the stage!!!! Brilliant!! Needless to say there was no travelling to Sydney for me! Haha! Anyway my mood was not dampened as Toadie the Legend walked towards me!!!!! My excitement nearly reached overflow which Matt very kindly pointed out to the man himself! "You'd better get in a photo quick before she wets herself!!!" I believe were the words!! There it was! Crushed! But next up was Mr Stefan Dennis-aka Paul Robinson. Now this was an interesting one. A guy in our group asked him light-heartedly to hold up a sign saying "Paul Robinson England's no.1". Ingenious because the character shares a name with a certain English footballer you may think. Alas old Stefan didn't share our view and declined with the comment "I don't support Soccer!" ! What the dagnammin hell does that matter!!! Anyway eventually it got to the point where the minder (what exactly would happen to Stefan Dennis that he would require a minder?) tore the sign up in his "defence". What a loser! (I still got in the photo very excited though)!! Then I had my photo with Steph Scully-grudgingly because she really is incredibly beautiful-grrrrrrr!!!!! All
Paul Robinson!!!
"Sorry i don't support Soccer!" "So...I don't care you're famous!!!!" in all a great night.
But before you think that that was the end of my "brush with Neighbours stars" saga!!!!! Just you hold your horses!!! Oh yes! the other night I was serving a party of 40-along with about 6other tables-aaggh!!!-when who should arrive at the table but Connor!!!!! The strangely superfluous Irish guy from Neighbours! The excitement doesn't stop there....I was then invited out with him and his mates to a nearby bar after I finished work!!! Some of his friends even did some tidying so I could get out quicker! Yep...just hanging with the stars! Mind you the bastard didn't tip so I had to go to get my money's worth in drinks off them!!!!! Which I did-but not off the tight-arse Connor! Grrrr!! (Never actually got his real name! I'm sure I was calling him Connor all night!) Haha!
Still living in our house. There's been some changes to some of the tenants-it really is a travellers house! James left and so did his friend from home Steph. In her place arrived Matt-a really great Aussie guy-but he only just moved in so not much to say about him yet. Steph was fun!!!!! She seemed the loveliest person and we even shared a primary school best friend from Woldingham but then the beast was unleashed!!!!!!! (Sorry for this James but it had to be included!!) One day she stormed upon Paul saying that a whopping 4slices of bread had gone missing from her loaf!!! Now this may seem catastrophic but it gets worse....she only had "10slices left! One for everyday she had left in the house!!!" hahahaha!!!! First of all ewww! Bread doesn't last that long to which her defence was "I don't mind it stale!" and then she said she could'nt afford to buy new groceries! I mean...please! Me and Paul have been on the breadline (haha-sorry couldn't help it!) and we can still afford bread! Travelling may be gloomy without such funds!!! But the most amazing thing was we were being blamed even though innocent! And there was no saving ourselves! It did provide us with much entertainment though such as planning to buy milk and mark off the next 10days consumption among other ploys!! The incident is way up there with the "You should wear Masks!" that some of you may remember!!
Melbourne really is nice though if a little cold! I hate you all as I keep hearing of your current heat wave! It really is bloody cold here-maybe not as cold as English winter but not that far off. Here does actually remind me of England in a way. The people are friendly too-friendlier than in Sydney!! I am glad we opted to move here rather than Sydney-we've felt very at home. As I suspected though the time is really flying all the time I work! I work all the time-similar hours to that which I'm used to but I'm a bit out of practise which doesn't bode well for my return to the working world!!! Aaagghhh!! I can't believe that we've been here the same amount of time that we were in New Zealand already! We plan to work til early August then head off for more travelling. Can't wait!
I hope I haven't missed anything too important. I will get Paul to do his own entry on his return and I will get him to include anything important I missed out.
I hope you are all well-I miss you all loads now as I reach the halfway mark. I'm glad Paul got to see some of you while he was back-wish I could have popped back with him.
I have put some photos on previous entries-such as my skydive. Ran out of time but more will go on shortly!!! (Better late than never!!)

Pipesy, Can you amend email address as below : barry.gilmore@tiscali.co.uk I am retiring 30th June and the email address you have will not reach me and I would hate to miss tales of your adventures - even working life for you and Paul seems full of incident. Have seen Paul while he has been in UK - last night showing photos/images of your travels to friends and he is flying back to Oz today so will be back with you in a matter of hours. Barry
