Nutsy and I
In our dive of a house!! Hello there everyone!! Sorry its been soooo long since my last message!! Havent had an awful lot to write as I have been working and saving (yep thats right... me... save!!) But I understand that Natalie has been informing you all of our more recent antics and her side of Australia so here is a bit on mine!!
Well I’ve been working at a night club just down the road from TGI Fridays (Nat's work!!) … which was a great laugh, good pay but the oddest hours. So odd that I managed to get the last tram at night to work and get a midday tram home!! Not good for my body clock!! I met some amazing people and I think there is a photo of us all in the last blog that Nat’s did… So hi to everyone there!! Especially, Paddy Steve Mike and the special Alistair!! Other than working, both Natalie and I managed to maintain a healthy social life making use of a few of the bars and clubs, as well as seeing some of the local attractions, like the cinema and aquarium!! Albeit not very cultural... it was still brilliant fun! We know how to travel!!...lol
Work Guys
Steve, Alistair, Me and Paddy infront I spent much time at the Prince of Wales where HUGE jugs of beer were $7, amazing how it can be sooo cheap but you can still spend an absolute fortune!! Still, all good memories!!
As some of you will know, I had to fly back to England about a month ago because my grandfather passed away. So sad … but he died a happy man and that’s best. I got to see all my family again and catch up with my cousins who I haven’t seen for ages!! So it was nice to see them all again and to give my Nan a big hug despite the circumstances!! But my god what a flight to make!! It took about 38 hours door to door which tiring although I did nothing except sit, eat and sleep!! And I know some of you will be thinking … “Paul must have been right at home!!” - cheeky people!! But it was not the nicest trip!!.. and then I had the thought of doing it all again! Although I did get to watch all the cheesy films I’ve missed since being away and eat what was apparently ‘world class’ food, which I
A night on the town
Paddy, Al and I.... I did have more friends than this... honest!! don’t think is really a world renowned status but it was nice anyways… for plane food! And I had a signed-up lifetime member of the Australian Fanatical Society telling me everything there was to know about Aboriginal people and how they drink water… so any questions im sure I will know the answers???… he was actually very interesting but he did make me miss the end of Sex and the City, and it was an episode I hadn’t seen… always the way!
While I was home, I got to go and see my friends from Portsmouth and enjoyed the nice English weather (compare to Melbourne anyways!!) with several barbeques and then went up to Brighton to see friend from uni! Was so nice to see them all and surprise them!! Spent most of the time on the beach and having but more barbeques but cant complain about that.. although everyone else could as I nominated myself as chef and managed to set fire to the sausages, well it wouldn’t be a typical English barbeque without some blackened coating!! So after that… I headed back to home to say a final farewell to everyone and caught up with Dawn (my
Alistair and I
On Gold Coast Beach cousin) and told her all about working in Australia and traveling and think that I might have swayed any doubts she had about not going. By the way Dawn… all that advice I gave you about the working visa’s in Oz… don’t listen to a word of it!! I was completely wrong!! I’ll explain all about it later!! Im so stupid!
So after that dreaded long flight back, I got back to Oz to be greeted by Alistair, the new housemate, as Natalie was fast asleep.. which I soon put a stop to and woke her up and jabbered at her for few hours about absolutely nothing… I think I was overtired at this point!! But she soon woke up properly and was her usual talkative self!! Then had to break her the news that we might have to go to Asia quicker, those of you who know the whole visa story will understand why!! So we handed in our notice and started planning the leaving party, we couldn’t go without a bang after all!! And it certainly was… loads of people came and we looked very popular. We got lots of free drinks all night, which never goes
a miss!! And had our friend Casey from TGI’s playing live music for us! All very classy! Then I headed to a local club Piper-less to spend some time with my work friends and Natalie did the same with hers. We both met up the next day to tell our stories of the night we had! Although mine was a lot shorter then hers owing to the fact that I couldnt remember a lot of it!! Damn that Absinthe!! There is a reason that no-one drinks it!!
A week after the leaving party, Natalie headed for Sydney to meet her family and I headed for Brisbane to see a friend of mine, Marissa, who I knew her from work in Brighton. I got to stay in her lovely house in the outskirts, which had pool, sauna and steam room, which of course I made full use of! Then Marissa, her boyfriend Danny, and I went to Australia Zoo (the one that Steve Irwin.. or whatever his name is ..owns!) It was a brilliant day and I even got a photo of him… what a tourist I am, and just to be even more cheesy, I got some pictures of
Skippys back!
Me and a kangaroooooooooo his annoying seven year old daughter, Bindi, and her pop-group the croc-men (erm!) dancing to songs with lyrics like “I am a big alligator, snap snap snap” which was a sole destroying experience. Even worse was that I found myself applauding her… Then just when we finally thought it was all over and she had gone from our lives, she returned to do one last song dedicated to the endangered monkeys of some unknown origin and .. wait for it.. it even had a audience participation dance to go with it! Unfortunately, owing to a ‘bad ankle’, I was unable to join in this time… and was left to watch. Damn it! On the plus side, I got my photo taken holding a koala bear. It was sooo cute, well it was until the dirty thing pooed on me!! Then I didn’t like it anymore!! Grrr
After that day, Marissa’s bloke and I headed for the Gold Coast, which on first glance looked like Vegas by the sea, but then it proved to be far worse than that… try 18-30s in Ibiza, except more like 14-18s!! Dont get me wrong... It was a lovely place, with lovely scenes and
The Australia Zoooo
Me Marissa and the Koala... you gotta do it while your there!!!! beach. Especially liked the night out where i got a flash tour of about every bar in the Gold Coast....(thanx Danny!!) And to see Marissa was briliant. Unfortunately the rest of the time there... we didnt enjoy. Just another city by the sea and it reminded me a bit of West St (for those of you from Brighton) or Guide Hall Sq (for those of you from Portsmouth!!) or any of Croydon (as claimed by Nats - she's from there so its ok!!) However, I was stuck there because Alistair and Natalie were coming to see me!!
Well right… that’s about the last 3 months in a nutshell!! Natalie and Alistair are just about to join me in the Gold Coast and Im sitting bored waiting!!
