I wish I knew for sure what day of the week it is... I think its Sunday, but the jet lag has been pretty horrid this week, since I last messaged I have traveled 15 hours from Peru to Heathrow had a 15 hour lay-over ( which was fantastic! :o)) and then 24 hours of traveling to Melbourne. By the time all this was done I was shattered... but I did get to fly on one of the new A380 double decker planes which was pretty cool! Anyway... here I am in Melbourne, well I'm now in Geelong to be precise, I am spending the weekend here before going to Warrnambool for two weeks where I will be doing volunteer work, apparently the first week is clearing a local riverbed of rubbish and vegetation and then ... read more

I can’t belive how fast everything is going, it is already week 12 of the semester, and 10 days in New Zealand went by so fast! New Zealand was amazing, we spent 10 days exploring all over the South Island. Here is just a quick over view of what we did. Day 1- We went from Christchurch to Fox Glacier. It was a long day of driving, but we saw some really great parts of the country. Day 2- Climbed Fox Glacier, it was actually really difficult to do but so pretty when we reached the top. Sadly it rained the whole time and made it a little harder but it was worth it. It is really strange to think that that glacier starts in the mountains and ends in the middle of a rain forest. ... read more

Wow so it has been a busy few weeks, last week as an on campus event people from most of the units when to Crown Hotel in Melbourne for a few hours. Res bused us out there, and everybody was dressed up, then gambled and hung around the hotel. Sadly I didn’t win much, but the Crown is really pretty and has a great view over the Yarra River and is beautiful at night. Later that week a bunch of us celebrated a friend’s birthday and that was a great time. Yesterday I went on a wine tour of 3 vineyards around the Geelong area and it was great (would have been even better if I actually liked wine but whatever). All the vineyards were so pretty, and surprisingly big for such a small area like ... read more

Welcome to Victoria! I left Adelaide yesterday morning - interestingly enough the sun was out ... well I think I saw it for a fraction of a second anyways. I soon hit rain again as I headed out on the Princes Highway towards the east. Made me feel better about leaving Adelaide so quickly. My first stop was Portland - a town I skipped on my last journey across Australia. I had no idea what Portland had to offer - but here was my opportunity to find out. I was pleasantly surprised to see signs advertising a “seal colony”, “blowholes” and the “petrified forest” upon approaching the township. Sounded like my detour was going to be worthwhile! Unfortunately the walk to the seal colony was a 2 hour return trek - as it was threatening to ... read more

Its amazing it is already week 6 of the semester, I am almost halfway done. It doesn't seem like I have even been here that long. I have add a few new pictures to Webshots so check them out. http://community.webshots.com/user/kj11606 I have finally finished my assignments so I don't have any due until right before spring break. Everything is booked and ready to go to New Zealand, bungee jumping, white water rafting, glacier hiking, and so much more. I can wait. 10 full days to explore the South Island will be amazing! Nothing much has been happening on campus, it seem lots of people had assignments due so it has been very quiet and calm. Im very excited we are going to another footy game this weekend. It is Geelong's last home game of the regular ... read more

Well another couple weeks have gone by, and the skateboard park is almost done. Brett's been super busy working, but did manage to fit in one day off to make TP, Nelby (her roomate) and I sushi. There is definately a lack of "good" sushi here, especially compared to Vancouver! So TP and I were dying for some of Brett's, so we luckily last Saturday night we persuaded him into making some for us. Funny how his sushi supplies managed to get packed from Wollongong! On Sunday we ventured into Melbourne and hit Lygon Street for some looking around, and an always yummy pasta lunch. It was a beautiful day, and not bad having lunch on the patio in the middle of winter. The street was packed with everyone out enjoying the weather and the amazing ... read more

I seem to be having trouble getting photos up on this site, so I put them up on another photo sharing site. Here is the link: http://community.webshots.com/user/kj11606 My week was mostly uneventful, just classes as usual. The weekend was great. Several other international students and I spend Saturday in Melbourne. We took the train into the city and when to the city aquarium. They had so many great fish, every one had a good time (we even found Nemo!) We spend the afternoon exploring the city and doing some shopping. We ended up going to a footy game (Australian Rules Football). It’s a really cool sport that I like nothing I have seen before, it is sort of a combination of American football, soccer, and rugby, but with a lot more chaos since there are 18 ... read more
