Only 2 weeks to go until we start our travels and the excitement is kicking in! We are slowly preparing everything for our travels, we have now booked our return flight to Melbourne which cost $109 each, our Greyhound Hop on Hop off Mini Bus Pass costing $769 for the both of us (this is how we are going to be travelling to each destination), our hostels vary in prices but on average we are paying $55 a night for a standard double room with shared facilities, the most we have paid is $74 a night in Magnetic Island (because there are only a handful of places to stay and the cheapest was fully booked) and the least we are paying is $40 a night at Woodduck Inn - Cairns, because we booked for a week ... read more

23rd September, we celebrated my 20th birthday!:D The night before we decided to make my birthday cake as we wouldn't have time on the day, so we borrowed Hannah and David's chocolate cake recipe as they said it was really good! We began making it at 7pm and didn't finish til about 9.30pm, lol it was a long process but it turned out to be yummy! We made the first layer which didn't rise that high as we didn't put enough cake mixture in and the second layer took ages to bake as it had too much cake mixture in lol! The icing is the best bit, we put it on top of the cake and a layer in between, we have photos! Maybe our parents will be lucky and we'll make it for them when ... read more

So i've decided to write a list of all the difference's between Australia and the UK, from what we've experienced, although some of the differences might only be common in Victoria, for you to get an idea of what it's like here! We should've done this at the beginning as most things we have got used to but when we put our minds to it we thought of quite a few differences! 1. The majority of houses are made out of wood and are only one-storey, although new brick houses are being built 2. They have drive thru coffee and cash points (LAZY) 3. Cars can turn left or right when there is a red light if there are no pedestrians 4. Every cash point charges you unless it is your bank (annoying) 5. Each card ... read more

So as the title states, I had the urge to blog as we haven't in a while. Truth is we haven't been up to much, well nothing that's worth posting, but I will update you on what we've been up to. As you already know Liam has a job so he's been working there, but he has only been given 3 shifts a week which is a bit disappointing, although on the upside he get's paid extra for working saturday and sunday which he does quite often so that make's up for the lack of shifts. I had a job then quit after a week, wasn't right for me so I've searched for jobs, have a few interviews lined up we'll see how they go. We've managed to save $2000 for our travels so far and ... read more

We have a month to go until we head off on our very quick exploration of SA, NT, NSW & Vic. From now until we go away we are packing up our old house that we just sold, getting on a plane to Fiji on the 1st of August, getting married in Fiji on the 7th, returning on the 11th, reception in Geelong on the 14th, day in Melbourne on the 16th then head off on the 17th. We dont like to relax!!!!!! Like hell, this is doing our heads in! Somewhere in between these dates I need to pack the van, prepare the van and car for the quick outback trip whilst Tracey is doing all the wedding and travel stuff. When we get back from our whirlwind 10day, 5000km trip we will hopefully be ... read more

It's been one week since we landed and we still think we have jet lag, every night we go to bed around 10 or 11, Liam's having a nap as I type this because he is tired and can't handle it! We've realised how much more expensive it is to live here compared to England, for instance today we went to the cinema to see Twilight Saga: Eclipse and it cost us $30, what a joke! Although it was a good film it's not worth that price! However, the wages are quite high so once you have a job I suppose it's better, so Liam better hurry up lol! I'm going to my uni Beach Welcome trip on Monday til Wednesday, leaving Liam to fend for himself, I'm looking forward to it, heading down to Lorne, ... read more

Yesterday got up at 12pm, Liam couldn't believe he has become so lazy (like me) but we do have jet lag so I'll let him off! We headed to the supermarket which is called Woolworths, ironic huh? To do our weekly shop, fun fun, trying to find the cheapest food possible is hard in Oz! On our way to Westfield shopping centre, for the second time in 2 days, we saw some colourful parrots in the trees, we tried to get photo evidence for you Dunky but only one photo turned out half decent, which we'll upload! We then walked down to the Waterfront, it looked lovely in the afternoon sun, although it wasn't that warm when the sun went down! The pier is being refurbished and is re-opening in September, looks good so we'll have ... read more

So we made it! Safe and sound! The flight was as good as it gets, no delays or cancellations but VERY long! We hardly got any sleep on the plane 2 hours if that but apart from that food was okay, entertainment good and the staff couldn't do enough for us! Hannah and David picked us up from Melbourne airport and brought us back to our temporary home in Oz. The house its deceiving from the outside looks like a small bungalow but inside the ceilings and rooms are huge! From what we've seen so far Geelong reminds me a lot of where I stayed in Florida, the houses are mainly all one floor bungalows, high ceilings, very spaced out areas unlike the UK where everything is together and in walking distance, also the roads are ... read more

I was “sick as” on the trip across the Tasman Sea to Auckland. I think it was a combination of seasickness and a virus….felt like dying. We were docked right where it’s all happening in Auckland - Viaduct Harbor. Lots of bars, namely an Irish Pub the crew frequented called Danny Doolan’s. Our first weekend in town kicked off with a boozy night of beers, burritos, and shots of Cuervo and Jager. Tried to shake out the cobwebs in the morning and got on it again with a trip to Waiheke Island for a winery crawl. Started off at the Stonyridge Winery⎯ a charming, ivy-covered brick cottage with creaking wood floors and arched doorways. We sat down for lunch on a covered patio with a Spanish villa feel and an incredible view of rolling green hills ... read more
