Hello all. This is the first, and a very boring, entry to a blog that I have just created to follow us on our wonderful holiday to the USA in August. I havent blogged before so I will do a few entries before we leave so that I am used to it, with a view to updating it most days while we are away. This will hopefully save us money on postcards and will enable anyone who is interested to follow our holiday and see some and read about some of the things we will all be doing. Beck went to the USA on a family holiday with the Hays in the late 1980's, I myself travelled to the USA with friends in 1994 (only a few short weeks after meeting Beck). We both have wonderful ... read more

01 04 2010 To Adelaide. We dragged ourselves from the idyllic retreat and got back on to the road for the 70 km drive to Adelaide. We paused at Normanville and had a look at the beach. It was Easter weekend, the beach was sand, the water was clear and it was about 25 degrees. We were the only ones on the beach, so celebrated with an ice cream. Off we then trundled and headed via the Maclaren vale winery to stay with Fiona and Brian in Morphett Vale Adelaide. We got there just after 1400 hours and were welcomed with open arms to Ray Avenue. They have a lovely bungalow and we immediately felt quite at home. The rest of the day was a whirl of meeting Trisha and Robby and a great roast dinner ... read more

Introduction We were up early so we committed to a big walk today - Onkaparinga. This is a long and tough walk, and as it turned out it was the toughest and scariest walk we have had for some time. What happened We started off well on the Sundews track, making our way down into the gorge. Instead of turning left, we turned right and rock hopped down the creek for about an hour. We had some seen some interesting sites - herons fishing, a canoe tree and bull rushes. As we rock-hopped, we looked around for the path that would take us up to the lookout at the top of a hill - but it became clear that we had missed it. As we were eating our sandwiches we looked up to the hill we ... read more

Adelaide is offically my least favorite city. As I've probably mentioned hundreds of times in this blog. So i'll let it go for now. I'm crazily excited to be getting back to Perth in the next few weeks. 19 days exactly, I'll be outta here. I'm applying for jobs there already so I won't end up like this again, having to go back to this city. The weather has been very nice here, reminding me just how much I dont miss winter at all. End of the week is supposed to be about 40 degrees. That temperature seems hotter in Adelaide than it did in Perth. I've become addicted to Terry Goodkind books. The library is holding the fourth one from me, and i'm getting antsy. Hopefully they'll finally have it in for me tomorrow, cuz ... read more

I've decided to minimize my subscriber list. I'm sending this thing out to a lot of people, but I haven't heard from most of you since I got to Australia. So, you have my email address, if you feel like it might be nice thing to do, send me a message sometime. So, for the rest of you that will still be getting these emails....I'm in Adelaide! I definitely wasn't happy about it, and I'm still working my ass off to get myself back to Perth, but, its not so bad. Its just a big change, really. But, it'll be good for me. Time to recoup and recover from my wild partying. My body needs rest. lol I was falling apart. And, I'm now working, which is exciting. I've got 4 guaranteed weeks of work (plus ... read more

We all went out for a drive today. We left here at 10am, and drove for about two hours into the Adelaide Hills. Its really so pretty out there. The roads are a bit scary, cuz they're so narrow and winding. We stopped in Mount Pleasant for lunch. We went to the hotel/pub in town. It was a cute little building, with not so great food. Excellent hot chocolate though (danielle and I got hot chocolate cuz it was FREEZING). On the way out, PJ and my mom got a "Pub Squash." Danielle and I were SURE they said "Pub Squat" and we were both rather alarmed until we saw them drinking something. After lunch, we drove on through Williamstown and went to the Whispering Wall. Its a dam that was built years ago, and when ... read more

Danielle and I went into the city today. It only took us 40 minutes on the train (which wasn't bad, since it pretty much went along the ocean for a lot of the way). After looking in some shops in Rundle Mall, we took the tram to Glenelg. They've replaced the tram since I was here a couple years ago, so it wasn't as fun. The old one was all creaky and....well, old. We had lunch in the jetty pub, right by the beach. We got calamari again, to see if we could find some that was amazing. So far, the calamari has been pretty disappointing here. I was looking so forward to it, but all we've been able to find is big, rubbery rings of it. Not nice. Danielle bought turkish delight in the Lolly-Shop. ... read more
