Hello! Pretty much the first chance I’ve had to use free internet since last blog as it takes a bit too long to do all the photos and stuff when you have to pay for it! First few weeks in Aus were spent just chilling at Joe’s mums, quite good getting to know the locals and seeing a bit of the “real Australia”. Was pretty warm and very dry and got a bit too much dealing with the flies all the time! Very nice house, although the town itself was pretty boring. The pubs and bars here just have no culture or atmosphere whatsoever, its just brand new buildings, all looking the same and just filled with hundreds of gambling machines! They absolutely love it! Played a bit of football and golf, went sheep shearing with ... read more

Goo'day!! Just a quickie to firstly see if this travel website thing works and secondly just to tell you alittle of what I have been up to. I arrived in Perth last week Wednesday. Perth is amazing!! The beaches are just like Cape Town's except the water is cleaner and warmer - so in other words they are better than CT's!! The beach front is full of active people all day and the weather is wonderful - a nice dry heat and to top it off you could eat off the pavement the streets are so clean! So now I know why so many Saffers choose Perth when deciding where to live other than SA. Everyone is friendly and the social scene is as good as anywhere I have been. We went to a place called ... read more

Indeed....some quiet empty holidays. While there are likely quieter places to spend the holiday season in this country, Brisbane has still be quite the ghost town...especially the West End, where I've taken up temporary residence. I'm staying in my own room finally in a boarding house and its okay, but its really hot in my room and the common areas aren't too welcoming. I'm the only traveler and all the locals (mostly in their 30s) can tell. I'm there at least another week and then we'll see. My restaurant was closed for the week so I had plenty of time to kill. Spent it mostly playing bass and walking around, saw a couple movies, tried to get out of the city to this lookout point but didnt check the return times....had all of 10 minutes out ... read more

Spent three very relaxing days at Matt and Natt and Jacob's house in The Gap, a lovely part of Brisbane up in the hills. The house is HUGE and a real luxury to have all to ourselves although the lack permanent residents was sad as it would have been so much nicer with them in it. It was very bizarre having a swimming pool, a house, a fridge, a TV, a front door key, a bed and a bathroom that we could however briefly call our own again. I had almost forgotten what it was like to have a safe place; to live in a real home! The weather wasn't great but we amused ourselves with morning swims, trekking for food (naturally!) and watching 'Disneys' finest offerings with thanks to Jacob's collection of classics. There was ... read more

to everyone! Hope you all had a good night. As for me, I went to Brisbane Broncos Rugby ground for a meal and a few drinks! Christmas was weird - had a barbecue outside and played badminton and cricket so a bit different to normal, I had no Christmas feelings whatsoever but it was a great day... Boxing Day took us to Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast and I happened to bump into a friend of mine.....Steve Irwin!!!!! Yup, I was lucky enough to see him wrestling crocs which was really lucky because he's never meant to be there. Result! From the 27th-30th I went to Sydney with the folks. Had a great time..our hotel room was looking over the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Took lots of pictures. We went to Bondi Beach ... read more

Exactly what it says! Arrived in Byron Bay late in the evening, exhausted and ready for some food and a good sleep. Offcourse after a few wines and a chill out on the beach. I have to also put a special mention to Giles' beach mat which has made itself useful throughout the trip despite recieving a lot of stick from many people with its distinct likeness to a 'man bag'when he carries it! Unfortunately the beach mat got it in more ways than 1 by the hostel dog this night who took an unhealthy sexual interest in it (say no more), as it happens the mat was swedish so the dog had some taste (well it was from Ikea). In the morning we had to say goodbye to the Swiss Girls Daniela and Angie who ... read more

Yeah, thats what they call it sometimes here in Brisbane. Been here about 2 1/2 weeks and things are slowly growing on me. Tha Arts Factory continued to be amazing until ah was forced to leave, ahll let tha pics speak fer themselves. Brisbane has been pretty up and down. Ah started off staying at a hostel in a 30-share dorm room w. no air conditioning. Sleep was pretty hard to get, and ah usually woke up drenched in sweat. The perk was that it was cheap, and had a free job club. Ah secured an interview and then a job doing telemarketing, which ah quit after 3 days. Because sitting at a desk calling people who dont want to talk to me, is NAWT something ah ken dae fer more then 2 hours er so. ... read more

O'Reilly's Rainforest Guesthouse, Lamington Nat.

O'Reilly's Rainforest Guesthouse, Lamington Nat. ... read more
