Days 11 - 21 Day 11 - Crescent Head Day 12 - Hat Head Day 13 - Scotts Head sorry for no detail for the previous 3 days - I'm going to have to figure out how to remember interesting items to jot down here. I keep a 'daily log' on a voice recorder - not a notebook Day 14 - Coffs Harbor I stayed underneath the old pier - the day was rainy and the pier dripped all day, it was a very uncomfortable stay (not to mention the paddle the following day). Day 15-16 Woolgoolga The paddle from Coffs to here was horrific. The wind was from the NE, though the real problem was the blue-bottles - I've never seen so many in the water. On this short stretch (about 15 or 20 miles) ... read more

Word up people. Took my first tentative steps into New South Wales less than a fortnight ago - another state crossed off the list. That said, i didn't venture very far into NSW, only making it as far as Byron Bay, before heading inland to Nimbin, a small town with a big reputation. The main reason (really) for heading in that direction was the number of interesting looking places connected to the WWOOFing network (Willing Workers On Organic Farms), which i had joined in Brisbane. I needed to save a bit of cash you see - you work at these places for 4 or 5 hours a day and they provide you with food and accomodation. Nimbin has been home to a sizable population of alternate types ever since the Aquarius Festival was held there in ... read more

We walked along Belongil Beach passed the hippies reading poetry to themselves into town & met up with the Blackdog Surfing lot. There was eight of us surfing today along with two instructors, Jason & Mark. Once we had applied gallons of sunscreen & picked up a rash shirt we headed in the van down to the Pass, just a little east of Main Beach. The beach was sandy & waves were breaking quite far out & cruising gently to the shore. We began with a bit of a stretch & then learnt the basics of getting up onto a surfboard. Then it was time to get out into the water, a few of the girls who had been surfing before, headed off with Mark & the rest of us waded out with Jason. After a ... read more

Days 99 & 100 We checked out and dropped some chocolate we bought in the Hunter Valley off at the laundrette as a thank you to Ken and Wanda. We caught the bus to Port Macquarie where we were picked up and taken to the hostel. It was a really friendly cute little hostel and really nice and clean. We dropped our bags in our room and walked to the Koala Hospital about 2km away. We got there in time for the feeding and guided tour. It was a really sweet place with about 10 koalas there. We liked an old man one who had a stupid name so we renamed his Arthur! He was so cute! Koalas in the local area who are found injured mainly by dogs, cars or fire are brought in here ... read more

I have just spent all day uploading pics on Char's comp and putting them in order with Kristen's. I have them all up on my MSN space. So if you have MSN and I'm not on your msn list already, you can add me (becca_06@hotmail.com) and then click on my contact to view all the pics. (Aunts and Uncles you may want to ask your kids about this one). Alternately, you can try accessing them at http://spaces.msn.com/becca06cricket/. You'll be prompted for a password, so if you don't have an msn account, you may have to make up a password and then you can view them. Again...ask your kids. I'll try uploading them onto this blog as well, but it takes an awfully long time and I think there may be a limit of photos that I ... read more

Su and I braved the packed, hot, bus from sydney centre out to Bondi today. Crystal water and pearly white sand draped in towels and tanned locals greeted us. The sun was blazing but the water was lovely....ever had the Pacific ocean break on your head? strange feeling, swimming and playing in the rip tides! then heading up the beach for a sun-worship. Its a feast of flesh up there! quite alarming. but much sunburn for my liking! watching the surfers demonstrate why Oz is so famous for its waves was great fun. but then it was back on the bus to sydney in the heat and the crowd...Sunday must be a popular day for Bondi! Trying to gently build a tan but the weather is a bit unpredictable...I burnt in the cloud on my first ... read more
