Hi! After two buses, and a ferry, I am now sitting at Fado’s in Seattle. Had to use my ‘free’ beer coupon up, and Guinness is good for breakfast, right? When in Seattle, do as the Irish do…or, something like that! It is a good place to chill, get out of the cold, listen to good music and drink beer…plus, the bartender is kinda cute. Still getting my head wrapped around the length of this trip. My Aussie friend said…yeah, ya gotta come for a minimum 6 weeks. So, rebel that I am, I made it for an even seven! The hardest part so far, was leaving my cat Sushi. She seems to sense the ‘backpack equals leaving’ thing So this morning she was giving me the saddest-stink-eye-ever-face! I won’t lie…I got a little teary eyed. ... read more

Byron Bay is such a cute place! It’s comprised of about 4 streets, like most places in Australia, but they are jam packed with a mixture of shops, eateries and cafes that make the town feel a bit like Brighton in a heat wave. I had a surf lesson here which was the most tiring 2 hours of my life. If you’re not dragging yourself on to the board and trying to balance on the fast moving water then you’re constantly fighting the mammoth waves to stay standing and get back out to try it all over again. Despite this it was so much fun and when I rode the wave back to shore on my third attempt I was shrieking all the way! Unfortunately there are no pictures proving this as I was too cheap ... read more

Yesterday we went to the Blue Mountains for the day which was stunning and we both just stood and stared for ages!!! Last day today before we head off so sorting a few things out then hopefully going up the sky tower as it is another beautiful day :) ... read more

G'day Hope everyone had a fab Christmas and a happy new year!! We have had a lovely time in sydney and it's made a nice change to have some good weather. We spent Xmas day at bondi beach with Teri and Lindsey, plenty of beer and we had a BBQ. It was scorching and it was packed with english drunks including Liam haha!! For the new year we went to a place called Balmain which overlooks Sydney harbor bridge. The fire work display was amazing, there were so many people there and the atmosphere was really good. It was a shame that we had to walk home as the bus ques and taxi lines were so busy, it took us 3 hours from leaving to getting home although we did manage to get a nice greasy ... read more

So, as i'm sure most of you have heard (or seen on Facebook) last week I got a temp job. It was only for 4 days, but it was good money and better than nothing. I was working in the claims department of an insurance underwritting company. I was just doing general admin taks like filing etc, but it filled the day and I got to work in a georgous location. The office was at Milsons point, the other side of the harbour by Luna Park, and my desk looked out on to the Harbour Bridge (just look at the pictures). The office was amazing and I got my first taste of working for an aussie company. The atmosphere was very laid back and on Fridays you got to finish at 4:30 and go up to ... read more

Today we were meant to be going to the Blue Mountains but at 7am having looked outside to find yet more torrential rain Camilla and Elin forefitted their deposits and stayed in bed whilst Becky decided to brave it and headed off. Whilst Becky was in the mountains (which due to the weather were not even visible) Camilla and Elin went to the Sydney Opera House open day and explored all the concert halls, and even went backstage. Unfortunately the opera house were not aware of our talents and we weren't invited to perform but we did get to see some performances and decided that missing the Blue Mountains was not too much of a problem after all!! Becky returned early, wet and tired having seen nothing but cloud, fog and rain....not a mountain in sight!! ... read more

Having been in Sydney for a few days now, we had to start thinking about how are adventure was going to continue up the coast....campervan or bus!? Crossing the road to the campervan rental Camilla had her first arachnid induced mini heart attack as an enourmous spider crawled across the ROAD under a car! Panic over we explored the vans before heading to the greyhound office. A delightful few hours were then spent in the park assessing our dire financial situations which led to only one option...the bus! 13 hour overnight bus journeys were inevitable and so we returned to the hostel for the free BBQ which was amazing! Kangaroo steaks were very much enjoyed and whilst Camilla and Elin decided to stay in for an early night Becky joined our new found friends in Darling ... read more
