We're almost ready to take off on our big adventure! Our fellow adventurers, the Kaedings, tell us we'll be following a coastal storm over the next few days. Did we say adventure - people!? The great thing is we'll all be one big happy family. The bad thing is I asked Geoff when he got the RV to please not take us on winter trips... Looking at the picture of Spirit (our motorhome is named "Spirit") you can see for yourself that it is indeed WINTER here! GOOD TIMES! :) Thanks for traveling along with us as we go in search of the warm sun and some family fun. We hope our blog connects you with our laughs and tears and draws you closer to Christ Jesus' heart. We love you and Jesus loves you most ... read more

I had breakfast with Mike this morning (after a hot shower!). Then all of us headed to church… for the last time for a while, unfortunately. Service was great and Jessica even kind of enjoyed it, or at least is taking a lot of time to process the whole thing. Then we headed to the theater. For some reason, I thought I was going to have more time to get work done, but the kids showed up straight away and we got a little pressed for time. Because Wenatchee didn’t have a full rig, I ended up having to reprogram every cue to some extent, often in blind, to get them fixed for here. Hopefully this isn’t a regular occurrence. Uncle Paul came and hung out with us for a while. I was working and running ... read more

We got to sleep in today, which was pretty nice, but for the life of us we could not get our shower to turn warm! Yikes! (We also spent most of the night fighting with the heater. I woke up in the middle of the night from a dream that I was talking to the children and couldn’t hear them because it was too loud- so I got up and shut it off. Sarah turned it back on because it was freezing in our room and she figured that if I woke up and it was cold, I would not get up. (She knows me too well.) Once it gets hot, I actually starts blowing cold air, so it’s pretty confusing. Then we headed out to the theater for load in. It was so nice to ... read more

Today we were up and at it again. Actually, we just got up and drove to Spokane. The drive was beautiful, filled with a lot of not talking, which as exactly what we all needed. We came to Spokane and then did lunch and went to the Fox to check on some things. It was great to see the guys hanging my show, familiar guys who were doing a good job and everything taken care of- I have no worries about that. Then we hit LC just after the kids arrived, and I did laundry and ran some errands while they rehearsed. We had a opening night cast party for them with cake and ice cream. Dale told me before I left that I wasn’t allowed to call him crying until after the 5th show, and ... read more

The time we have all been waiting for has finally come. I am embarking on the adventure of a lifetime! Okay all...bear with me as I, the technologically challenged, attempt to keep you informed. Right now i am in the process of packing, saying goodbyes and preparing for the trip ahead. Miranda and I leave Friday afternoon and will start our journey at the Gorge with Josh, Missy, and my parents at the Dave Matthews Band Concert. From there we will visit friends (Melaroo and Jason) in Salem, OR and onto Lincoln City to see Mirandas awesome parents! And to check out a cranberry farm in Bandon. The Grand Coulee Dam is not as spectacular looking as the Hoover Dam, but ... according to the guide, each one of the intake pipes of the Grand Coulee can take in the whole contents of all of the Hoover Dam intake. Yes, it's that's many times bigger. As for pretty engineering structures, it's pretty impressive too.... read more

Day 21 (July 18, 2008) Good morning, After saying goodbye to all my biker friends that had made the ferry crossing from Haines to Bellingham, I got on I-5 and headed for Highway 2, which would take me across the upper part of Washington, Idaho and Montana. I have never driven this route before and was looking forward to the journey home. I know that Route 66 is a well traveled road but Hwy 2 also takes you across a wide variety of landscapes and geographical areas. I can say that I am glad to be back in the lower 48 and know that the roads are in much better shape. And it seems my Wing knows that it is headed home and knows exactly where to go and what speed to travel at! Things have ... read more

In about 36 hours I will be headed off to Florence, Italy for my 6 weeks teaching and one week traveling. Although, there will be some traveling in that 6 weeks of teaching, too! I am packed. Well, I have all the things I want to bring fitting in my one suitcase, but I fear it is too heavy. I will have to work on that. And I am packed with suggestions, too. Everyone who has gone to GIF has a list of places for me to see, things to do, places to eat, things to see. I hope I get to do it all and bring back some new suggestions for those who go after me. This is an exciting opportunity for me, and I am much looking forward to going and living there. So, ... read more

So, for those of you I haven’t seen or haven’t heard, I’m home. Home. Finally. Flew back on Thursday with a bit of a head cold. Chicago to Seatac; Seatac home. And let me tell you, I have NEVER been so anxious to get off an airplane! We flew over the city a bit, my first glimpses of anything familiar. The end of tour was hard; actually, it really sucked. We got done working at 12:15, and everyone had to be out of the building by 1. Kyle, Sarah and I basically ran down the street to get lunch together. Then I went downstairs and said a hurried goodbye to the kids. They were in there 2 lines, and it really felt like I was processing them- not really time to say goodbye to each of ... read more
