We are leaving Glacier and heading west on the Sun Road
We sadly left beautiful Glacier National Park and headed out Route 2 through Idaho and into Washington State. When we got to Kalispell, MT there was smoke in the air everywhere - it looked thicker to the south. We stopped in Libby, MT and had lunch, did laundry and grocery shopping. We entered Idaho and gained another hour - we are now in Pacific Time Zone. Route 2 was a very nice scenic drive. Dave liked the driving and thought it was a "great way" to come into Washington. The temperature was about 90 degrees when we got out of the [View Full Entry]

Welcome to Idaho

Our next stop was down in Missoula, Montana. Missoula is the home of a Smoke Jumper Depot...which means its a base for the fire fighters that parachute out of airplanes to put out forest and wild fires. The tour was awesome! It was led by a former smoke jumper, and we got to see the entire facility. It was a refreshing change from just looking at dioramas and replicas...about 6 jumpers came in from a drop while we were standing in their locker room. Crazy! There are actually about 22 forest fires raging right now, mostly throughout that particular region...but there [View Full Entry]

Hello all, Well we have been home for over a week now and we thought that we should do one last blog since we said we would. It is good to be home and back to our comfortable surroundings. We had a bit of a whirlwind first week home. We stayed in Seattle for a few days, then traveled across the state to visit Brandon's parents, grandparents, and other family. We were planning to live in Spokane, but work has moved Brandon so we are moving back to Seattle to live. We are sad that our trip is over, but we [View Full Entry]

Day 45..... So...we have picked up our next hire car - a Pontiac Grand Prix - which is a dream to drive. After a 3 hour cruise along the highway to the Olympic Mountians, our first port of call was a small Wildlife Reserve in Dungeness. The Reserve is a strip (or a 'spit' as it is known!) of beach that stretches out into the ocean, where hundreds of seabirds and Harbour Seals can be seen. We were also treated to a gorgeous sunset as the sun dipped behind the Pacific. The next morning we ventured into Olympic National Park. A [View Full Entry]

It’s been awhile since I have experienced the anticipation of the unknown. That feeling one has when you close the door of the rental car--with only a basic map in hand--and wonder not only how you’re going to find your hotel, but how you’ll get out of the parking lot. That moment of excitement when you turn the corner and catch your first glimpse of a vista that is new and unexplored expanding before you. That is what travel does for me, and it doesn’t matter whether it’s Sicily - or in this case Spokane - that is the featured destination. [View Full Entry]

The way I see it First: April tenth. School, didn’t get to take the bus home, pack, laundry. My mom’s friend Suzanne picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. We checked in and saw that my mom was wrong, we weren’t leaving on the 6:00 plane, it was a 5:00 plane, and it was 4:20 or so so it was in final boarding. Quickquickquick we check the baggage, rush through security, forget stuff, go back, run to the gate and jump on the plane. Alright, I can handle that. Sea-Tac As we live in little Spokane, we went [View Full Entry]

Well, life is interesting. I have been reading Ireland by Frank Delaney. It's good so far, really worth reading. It is a book of small stories, each told by a storyteller to the main character. It's interesting, you can get it at Walmart and Borders. The copy I'm reading was borrowed from my teacher. I got a new book today as well, Irish History. I couldn't find the author's name. Anywho, I live in a house with my Mum, dad, brother Charlie and 3 crazy cats. I love to act in community theatre (though I can't wait to get money for [View Full Entry]

Friends, Romans, Countrymen- Hello y'all. I'm a high-schooler from Washington state in America. I am an actor in community theatre and I love Shakespeare. I go to a program for homeschoolers three times a week. This program is The Enrichment Co-operative or TEC as we call it. The main class for the high-schoolers in this program is Advisory. Each trimester (Fall, Winter, and Spring) the high school students have to to a trimester project on a subject. The first trimester it was about us, the second trimester it was on a subject of o [View Full Entry]
