Manhattan excels in random meanderings. No plans necessary. Just walk, explore and the city reveals exactly what you need at that moment. Overwork and conflicting schedules have left me and Dave with no time to hang together for months .... until this past weekend. The next morning I got the train back to New York. It was delayed by 2 hours unfortunately because of some track work so instead of getting there at 10am I got there at 12pm. SO THE FIRST DAY WENT TOOK THE TRAIN FROM LINDEN IN NEW JERSEY TO NEW YORK PENN STATION IN NEW YORK CITY. THE JOURNEY WAS QUICK, ONLY 25MINUTES AND A BARGAIN AT $6. THE TRAINS ARE PRETTY MUCH LIKE AT HOME, BUT THE CONDUCTORS UNIFORM IS VERY SCARY AND OLD FASHIONED! ALSO YOU BUY YOU TICKET AT THE MACHINE THEN THE CONDUCTOR TAKES IT FROM YOU AND SLIPS A LITTLE RECIEPT UNDER THE HEADREST INFRONT OF YOU AND THEN THEY COME TO TAKE IT AWAY BEFORE YOU REACH YOUR DESTINATION. No final da tarde de ontem, estava saindo de uma loja quando vi um homem correndo para discutir com uma moça dentro de um carro parado no farol. Took a cruise past the Statue of Liberty. Weather now cool and cloudy, but still a few sailing boats on the harbour. Walked past Concorde and browsed through a huge SA thrift store. Off to the Gershwin Theatre to see the matinee of ‘Wicked’. Visually stunning, brilliant lighting, big sets, great monkeys and flying about. Full house. Standing ovation again. Good music that combined old Broadway with a newer rock sound. Quick trip to Macey’s and off to the Lincoln Centre to see South Pacific. I can now die a happy New Yorker! Today I stumbled upon the quintessential celebrity quartet, a mere 20 centimetres from each ... hand-shaking distance, and close enough to count wrinkles: Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. Woo-hoo! They were filming 'Sex & the City 2' in Soho. The very moment I cruised by, SJP emerged from her trailer into the snapping jaws of 100 fans. It's not often you pass a baby giraffe in thigh-high prostitute-style patent platform stiletto boots. Even more rare is said baby giraffe with detailed ink art covering every patch of skin: a starry constellation encircling her eyes, a rose bush climbing her neck, 'hollywood' scrawled across her belly and a host of creepy portraits staring back at you from various limbs.
