SO THE FIRST DAY WENT TOOK THE TRAIN FROM LINDEN IN NEW JERSEY TO NEW YORK PENN STATION IN NEW YORK CITY. THE JOURNEY WAS QUICK, ONLY 25MINUTES AND A BARGAIN AT $6. THE TRAINS ARE PRETTY MUCH LIKE AT HOME, BUT THE CONDUCTORS UNIFORM IS VERY SCARY AND OLD FASHIONED! ALSO YOU BUY YOU TICKET AT THE MACHINE THEN THE CONDUCTOR TAKES IT FROM YOU AND SLIPS A LITTLE RECIEPT UNDER THE HEADREST INFRONT OF YOU AND THEN THEY COME TO TAKE IT AWAY BEFORE YOU REACH YOUR DESTINATION. STRANGE! WE STROLL OUT FROM THE PLATFORM AND GRAB A FEW [View Full Entry]

Took a cruise past the Statue of Liberty. Weather now cool and cloudy, but still a few sailing boats on the harbour. Walked past Concorde and browsed through a huge SA thrift store. Off to the Gershwin Theatre to see the matinee of ‘Wicked’. Visually stunning, brilliant lighting, big sets, great monkeys and flying about. Full house. Standing ovation again. Good music that combined old Broadway with a newer rock sound. Quick trip to Macey’s and off to the Lincoln Centre to see South Pacific. Front row seat to see and hear the full orchestra and great stage performances. Unders [View Full Entry]

The 'Sex & the City' Girls
I can now die a happy New Yorker! Today I stumbled upon the quintessential celebrity quartet, a mere 20 centimetres from each ... hand-shaking distance, and close enough to count wrinkles: Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. Woo-hoo! They were filming 'Sex & the City 2' in Soho. The very moment I cruised by, SJP emerged from her trailer into the snapping jaws of 100 fans. She was super friendly and chatted to onlookers as she strutted the cobblestones in her Manolos. Enjoying the tail-end of my lunch hour, I flew back to the office to start [View Full Entry]

It's been a long time between drinks you might say, since I have put in my two cents worth. While Pen has been away (far and near), Good ol' Dave has stayed behind and made his worthy contribution to BamBam's long-overdue health care reform. Mt. Sinai is really starting to challenge me with new techniques (I'm learning Mouse Handling this week) and self-discipline. Work at the Australian keeps me honest. I worked the whole of the Labour Day Weekend a week ago (since all the Yanks were going away or having bbq's. With Aussie Rules finals, Formula One, Aus v Eng [View Full Entry]

It's not often you pass a baby giraffe in thigh-high prostitute-style patent platform stiletto boots. Even more rare is said baby giraffe with detailed ink art covering every patch of skin: a starry constellation encircling her eyes, a rose bush climbing her neck, 'hollywood' scrawled across her belly and a host of creepy portraits staring back at you from various limbs. Outside Cafe Habana in Soho today was an unmissable celebrity. Unless you love tattoos or watch L.A. Ink on cable t.v, you'd have merely stopped dead in your tracks to marvel at such a sight, unaware of your proximity to [View Full Entry]

Took the bus to the South Street Sea Port. Half price theatre ticket booth again. Walked over amazing Brooklyn Bridge. Great cabling. Wandering past Wall Street to Battery Park. Gazed out to sea at Lady Liberty. Looked around where the twins once stood. All fenced off and under-reconstruction. Checked out the proposed monument and was oddly moved. The waterfalls look a good idea. First subway ride - clean and safe. Walk through Central Park. Luscious, cool and refreshing, from the heat and dust of the city. Saw ‘Next to Normal’. Good story, very funny and sensitive book. We laughed [View Full Entry]

I ♥ NY, and have bought the t-shirt to prove it (9 for $10). Friendly people, beautiful sunny weather, amazing buildings, clean streets. Not as much traffic or as many people as I thought there would be. Broadway. Times Square. Very exciting. Caught up with A StJ, and settled into his amazing mansion on E29th. Really god to see him. He hasn’t aged at all. Saw The Fantasticks (longest running musical). Disappointed at El Gallo’s understudy (although his opening song about the sky being yellow was funny - did he mean that?), the rambling pace and the poor house. Rest of [View Full Entry]

The next day I was off to New York. Alyson dropped me off to the airport and it was a nice good bye. The plane was a bit delayed and I didn’t have any credit to let Jilly know. Luckily some dude on my bus from NYC let me use his mobile and I called her to let her know I was on my way. I met her at a bar in Grand Central station and we proceeded to catch a bus a couple of blocks away from Jilly’s house to do some more sight seeing around New York. We then [View Full Entry]
