Back in the States! Yesterday started in a Paris hotel room, then a train, London's Underground, a flight to Iceland then NYC, then a subway ride, then a 2-mile hike through the grid that is midtown Manhattan. I was a little tired after that. Anyways, I have *so* many pictures to share! The crack in the laptop screen is symbolic of my regret over not being able to share them with you for another couple days... But my promise is, they'll be here! And they'll be worth it. New York, New York! One word... w-o-w!!!! I can't remember exactly what we've done so far (lots!) but I'll try and give a rough idea... New York is amazing, there's always so much going on! We arrived on Wednesday, were chatted up by the immigration control officer (typical), got an exciting yellow cab to Sarah's flat (where we're staying) in Lower Manhattan. Leider haben wir gestern keine Bilder machen können, denn der Fotoapparat ist definitiv kaputt. Wir wollten ihn reparieren lassen, aber das ist viel zu teuer. Also besorgen wir heute ein neues Gerät. Es gibt also keine Bilder vom Central Park (der ist absolut riesig - wir haben nur einen Teil besucht - natürlich: STrawberry Fields - Gedenkstätte für John Lennon) und sind dann weiter spaziert auf der Westseite des Parks Richtung "Natural History Museum". Von Salzburg weg ging es nach London. Dort haben wir einige Zeit verbracht, allerdings mehr am London Heathrow airport und um 20.25 hob unser Flieger endlich gegen Westen ab. Die Flugzeit betrug 7 h 27 min (!) und wir kamen pünktlich um 23.00 ortszeit (+6) in Newark an. Leider war es dann eher kompliziert von Newark nach New York zu gelangen, aber schließlich und endlich schafften wir es. Um 2 Uhr früh fielen wir alle müde ins Bett. Unser heutiger Tag begann zu unserer Freude sehr sonnig - daher war unser erstes Ziel das Empire State Buildung mit einem wirklich wunderbaren Ausblick über alle Stadtteile New Yorks. Gott sei Dank waren wir relativ früh (halb 9 Uhr) dort, denn die Warteschlange um 11 Uhr war bereits sehr lang. Danach machten wir uns auf Richtung Lower Manhattan. Unser Spaziergang startete bei der City Hall und wir wanderten am Woolworth Gebäude vorbei zur großen Baustelle "World Trade Center". This was actually my second time seeing Billy Elliott. The first time was Christmas 2008, but I wasn't using the travelblog account to keep my reviews, so I decided to post this time. Here we are in New York City. It so happens that we had two of the nicest weather days possible. Even though it is mid July, the temperatures were in the low 80's with almost no humidity at all. We are parked up in Newburgh, NY and so we took the train into the city each day. Near here is the West Point Military School. The West Village is a star-spotting gold mine! During my lunchtime stroll, yet again, I bumped into an actor from my all time favorite movie: 'Love Actually'. A better looking option may have excited me more, but Bill Nighy (the pathetic, aging rock-and-roller who releases a Christmas version of 'Love is All Around'), still makes the cut. Oh, and I also cruised by Carrie's stoop, ('Sex & The City'). Working waaaay uptown is not doing Dave any celeb-spotting favors. Whilst meandering through the West Village at lunchtime, (gotta love the prime location of my SoHo office!), I stumbled upon Jennifer Anniston's new film set for 'The Bounty'. No sign of Jen (damn!), but the hoards of girls galloping up the street screaming, "I touched him! Oh my GOD!!! I touched Gerard Butler!" set my celebrity honing device on full alert. Den 3 dagen i New York startet med en lettere frokost før vi tok bussen videre til Central Park, her kjøpte vi oss hver sin is og satt i parken og koste oss. Vi visste at parken var stor, men at den var sååå stor det hadde vi nok aldri i verden trodd..
