DISCLAIMER: My intention is not groundbreaking. In fact, I've heard of several people taking the same exact trips. So why am I bothering to create a blog? For the most part, it's just a way to log my experiences. I don't want/nor do I expect many people to read this. I certainly am not writing anything shocking, original, or even remotely entertaining. Nevertheless, what you are about to read are my insights, experiences, and critiques as I journey through many of this country's major cities. OBJECTIVE: April 7, 2012 Ever since I was a kid, I had a fascination with baseball stadiums. Though baseball is not my favorite sport, I must admit that no view puts me in as much awe as seeing the inside of a stadium for the first time. I love everything about ... read more

This first summer, finances are limited so we're going to be restricted to weekend games in the remotely local areas. With that said, we already have tickets to games in Philadelphia (for my birthday), Pittsburgh, Queens, NY, and Baltimore. Ideally, we are also looking to get to Washington DC, Boston, and Bronx NY. Very much looking forward to not only seeing the stadiums, but also the different cultures each city has to offer.... read more

Hello everybody, For those of you that did not know, I'm embarking on a journey across the United States. I do not have nearly enough money to be going on an adventure like this, but I don't start work until June 1st and I couldn't get tickets for Bruce in NJ (haha), so I'm going. I'm never the type of person to take risks or anything of this nature, though I'd like to claim I am, but I'm going anyway. I'll be leaving for Chicago bright and early tomorrow morning. There will be camping on this trip, which should be interesting considering last time I was camping in a tent I slept for about an hour. I'm starting to pack up my things now. I'll be gone from tomorrow, May 11th, until May 29th. Then, on ... read more

Welcome back bloggers! Yes its been a while since i wrote my last entry but i have been so busy i haven't had a chance to visit the internet cafes! The last entry described my time in San Francisco which i enjoyed, and have now added pictures to that blog. To view these just go to "previous entry" and follow it back for the two San Fran blogs. In fact there are now more picture from Sydney, San Fran and the Napa Vally! On the Monday i flew from SF to LA and got to the airport late! i was directed to the wrong terminal TWICE by the locals and ended up circum-navigating the entire airport before arriving at the designated check in 15 minutes before my flight was due to leave! Whilst zooming round the ... read more

Hi, all. Hope I've got this blog-thing done right so I can share this with you, and that I'll be able to continue it once I'm in Shanghai. I'll be leaving on Sunday next (sept. 21st) and will be in Shanghai on Monday. Staying with my friend Jenny and her daughter Andie in the Jing An district, which is right in the middle of the city. Checked out the address on Google, and it will be like staying in midtown in New York. As to this blog, I know that Andie & Jenny have computers at home, but the screens and info is all in Chinese. There will be internet cafes as a backup, though. Feeling nervous, excited, panicked, thrilled - all at the very same time. I imiagine this huge trip will be the last ... read more

So I finished up the fall semester of my junior year at the College of New Jersey exactly a week ago, and I have only ten days till I get on a plane to go to Scotland for five months! And so I'm prepping to be off to the University of Edinburgh. I'm so excited! I've travelled a bit before -- to London for a week with my family a few years ago, and to around Bosnia for two weeks every summer for the last four years -- and I've loved every second of it. So I've been reading the guidebooks and looking up all sorts of information online, trying to ready myself to be immersed in a wonderful new place. I'm a huge anglophile and I adore Scottish accents, so I'm stoked to be in ... read more

Yes, yes, I know it’s been a looooonnnng time between blogs. My humblest apologies. A combination of writer’s block, busy schedule and laziness. Mostly laziness, I’d say. I do have a half written blog from a month ago, but, with your indulgences, I think I’ll skip ahead a little and work backward. We have some great adventures. This past Sunday we returned from a fun, but busy, trip to the United States - a quick visit with my sister in south Florida, a couple days with Dara’s family in NJ with visits to friends and schools in Yardley, then to Orlando for a few days with Dara’s sister, Marcy, and her family. After a trip like that, you need a vacation! The trip to Disney had been planned months in advance - a present from Dara’s ... read more

Today was my first day as a retiree. Transitioning from a city slicker to a backpacker mentality is proving to be a challenge as I have already experienced some embarrassing yet laughable moments today.. The first was what I thought was a brilliant invention by Coleman of a “full size” towel compacted down to a 1 ¾ inch package. Not thoroughly reading the small print, I purchased this deceiving, yet promisable package and witnessed the expansion in the safety of my own bathroom. The results were discouraging as this “full size” towel reminded me of the dish rag my mother used back in the 90’s.. The gingham pattern should have been a dead-giveaway!! Another moment occurred at the local Sports Authority. My previously written mission of finding travel-savvy clothes is proving to be another challenge. The ... read more
