First mission: find fun outfits that won't put me on travelblog's worst dressed list yet still show personality and fashion sense when washed for the 13th time in a bathroom sink!Recommendations greatly appreciated!
Sorry guys this is not really an entry..i'm so backed up i don't even know where to start! I'm very busy with CCS and also working on another project with 5 other people called CBP; in short, a community awareness program for the Tikka Gamru village. but in the meantime, here are some pictures of my new home and what i've been up to! A few other things.. in case you haven't heard, i will be staying in Dharamsala for at least an additional 6 months, probably longer..i have a few ideas brewing in my head and will send out an email soon on them.. i am also pretty good at emailing back people who email me. so if you want to drop an email, i promise i'll get back to you sooner than 2 months
... read moreHey everyone, just to let you all know, I have safely arrived in Delhi and will try to put some pics up once I'm settled in Dharamsala--possibly next week after the 16th. In the meantime I will be busy traveling to Agra to see the Taj and then to Jaipur in Rajasthan, the pink city! I have also recieved my assignment from CCS and will be plugging away at search engines today to research some ideas for the womans group I am working with. In short I will be volunteering with the Anganwadi teachers of a local village. The group, which was established by the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), currently engages in collecting monthly deposits and loaning that money out to women in the community. My assignment will be to suggest ways of developing and

I am quite tourist-ed out after Cambodia and I have decided to make home in my little guesthouse called Daret's GH. The clothes line is up, backpack is empty, books sprawled on bed... I've never claimed my territory this bad before!!! I think i'm getting a little homesick in the sense that I need a place to call home! But no worries..I'm doing a fantastic job of doing just that in this norther oasis! The first day here, Thursday, I just scouted the town and booked a cooking class at Baan Thai for Friday and chatted with a girl here that was raving about this yoga instructor. In desprate need to get some exercise, I

There were a few times I had to say to myself, “I’m in Cambodia right now!!” It was the most spiritual moment I have experienced since traveling in SEA and I just satdown to meditate and reflect on what I was actually whitnessing till 7am when the crowds just got to be too aggressive. BANTEAY SREI—a ways away but the bike ride was very relaxing and it was fun to see so much of Siem’s countryside! BT was a smaller temple and it’s modern name means “citadel of beauty,” which refers to it's size and delicacy of it’s decoration. It

Pictures of Southern Thailand now on a second myspace: http://spaces.msn.com/stephthailand1 My visa for Thailand expired on Friday the 24th, and since I had to wait for my India visa, I was forced to pay 500b when I left Thailand on Saturday for overstaying my welcome! The trip to Cambodia took over 12 hours and it was not a pleasant one either! Cambodia is still much a third world country. I heard the roads were not paved but I was not prepared for the trauma I went through without any painkillers or sleeping aids!! On the Cambodian side, we drove 5 hours in a minibus that must have been 10 years old! The loose windows were clattering against each other right next to my ear, the shocks on the bus (if there were any) were shot

Besides the occasional food stall though, I’ve been able to keep my food down, until this day!! Apparently the foul smell that he warned me about was seeping right out of my own bathroom drain in my new room at my new guesthouse in Bangkok!!! Oh it was nasty and there was nothing the staff said they could do about it except pour some water down the drain!! Sick of moving my crap around from guesthouse to guesthouse, I was determined to fix it. A pack of the strongest insets I could find on the streets seemed to do the trick! But.. later

I’ve explored most of Bangkok by accident and have developed some great legs in the process! Bk reminds me of NYC, except for the unorganized urban development and lack of street signs! So what have I been up to the past 8 days.. Let’s see… My first night here Carson and I went to Roti Mataba for some Indian food—we were the only westerners in the joint so I figured it must be good if it was packed with locals, right? Well, when we were served our dinner we couldn’t help but wonder if the chef seasoned our rice with Windex b/c parts of our rice was blue! Perhaps the fact that

The bus left at 9pm and we arrived in Bangkok at 5 this morning! We basically walked off the infamous Ko San road to find a quieter neighborhood with less crooks slashing pockets and purses! It was great to get into the city so early and not in the middle of rush hour and made for an easier adjustment from beach life to city life. After finding out i have to stay in Bangkok till the 25th in order to get my visa for India, I'm just hanging out today and researching the various sites i want to visit while in town! Here are some pics of the street we are

People mostly go to Koh Tao to scuba dive b/c it's very cheap, but my recent accident kept me out of the water completely so I wasn't able to get my padi certification! So my days were spent laying on the beach and nights spent eating western food buffets watching bootleg movies and staring up at the stars! We arrived in KT on the 8th of March in a boat from the mainland that well exceeded the legal weight limit permitted. All the seats inside were taken and people were lined up on the outsides and front of the the boat, legs dangling down over the windows of the indoor seats. The back of the boat held all our luggage. There
