Boston, well what can we say. Arrived in Boston with a strange sense of home, mainly due to the fact that it was pissing it down with rain. in fact there had been floods in the state due to the weather over the previous days. Arrived at the hostel to find it being renovated, in fact the hostel wasn’t even open, we didn’t realise that there was now a different hostel a few doors down that was open instead. When we got there we also found it being renovated but at least it was open. There wasn't even a toaster, though that was probably a good thing as we had been living on peanut butter on toast for a while already and a change would be nice!! It was a bit cold in their but we ... read more

So Unfortunately my certificate of eligability has not arrived in time so I am afraid that my departure to Japan is delayed until it arrives. I am praying that it will arrive at my office in Japan on Monday or Tuesday so I can get it by Friday and leave the following Friday. In other news I have finished all my finals but one, which I take in exactly 7 hours from now. I am so happy to be done its unbelievablethat theyve gone by so quickly--I just have to finish packing and everything before I go home so itll be really close and Ill be really busy these next couple days. On Monday night I went out to dinner with Kazumi and then we went back to his place where we were joined by Mariko ... read more

There is currently flooding all over New England and New Hampshire! Second worst on record, we are looking at 10 inches of rainfall in a week! I had to buy a pair of waterproof shoes today cos my trainers were overfilling with water; it was flowing through the top through the ventilation holes! The streets were full of water and it made the atmosphere really miserable. Like a madman, I walked the 2.6 mile freedom trail in the rain today and back, boy that was daft, even for me, in this weather. However, I did have an interesting time viewing the old state house, the scene of one of the events that triggered the 'terrorist insurgency' by colonists against teh Great British Empire that led to their independence as they call it in propaganda. Very interesting ... read more

Updated July 31st, 2006 Ok, I have been meaning to update this entry since actually have, quite sometime ago, found a new roommate named Joszef who seems very nice. So now you can just see pics of the apartment if you want, this post is no longer a classified ad looking for potential housemates ;) This is where I live when I'm in Boston. Cute huh?... read more

With very little sleep from the overnight greyhound journey we arrived in Boston at around 9am.We boarded the metro train and headed towards out hostel. ‘Just a short tube journey from the city centre’ it touted. Yes and a 30-minute bus journey to the tube station which it failed to mention. We checked in and showered before we headed back into the city. Unlike where we were staying, which was very industrial and run down, the centre of Boston was very beautiful, situated on the coast; this heavily Irish influenced city had much to offer and was overflowing with history, much to Ben’s disappointment. We started off by visiting the two famous Universities, Harvard and MIT. Harvard, the oldest university in America was alive with students and was a formidable place. The historic red brick buildings, ... read more

Ok so lots to update. First of all it turns out that two of my host families cancelled on me becuase apparently it's an issue that my internship is paid. I'm not sure why this is a problem, but when the host families found out from my work that I was earning a salary they got mad, so now I'm stuck having to pay $800 to live in company housing for about amonth during my time there...blech. Personally, I thinks it's kind of crappy that they're cancelling on me after I've counted on them for a place to live, but whatever........ In other news I have just been preparing for finals. I had my criminal law exam and I think it might have gone really well...I hope!!! Now I just have to get through these next ... read more

Let me tell you a secret. It is quite embarrassing in fact. So here we go: When I was a little girl, well actually up until I was 18, all I wanted to do in life was to go the States and live the American dream. Like every other teenager around the world, I was obsessed with Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place and other shows too embarrassing to mention, and I naively believed that life in America would be exactly like the shows. Lucky for me, when I graduated from high school I was awarded the Queen Ingrid Scholarship which kick started my year of saving up for my trip to the States. I worked in my mum and dad's hot dog and ice cream shop full time. I probably made more hot dogs than all ... read more

Boston, Massachusetts The impending deadline for our car's return hanging over us like something odiferous encroaching perilously on the corners of our conciousness (hah! say that ten times fast!), we made our way south into Boston, leaving in our wake both the quiet and the bustling seaside downs that pepper the New England coastline. Boston had a warm welcome prepared for us....innumerable roadworks on motorway on and off-ramps ensured that we saw more of the city than we intended as we neared our destination. We drove into the city center, braving the towering toll bridge, which afforded us a magnificent view of the city skyline, to find numerous circuitous one way streets and nary a park in sight. After a few loops around neighbouring blocks, we made it to the propitiously named Friend Street, where our ... read more

So I have Yuna Ito's song, "Endless Story" playing in my head and making me feel rather melancholy... Love, love, love... Here are the lyrics to endless story.(English translation follows the Japanese)It's a really good song, it just makes me sad....T_T If you haven’t changed your mind そばにいてほしいよ Tonight 強がることに疲れたの 幼すぎたの Everytime I think about you baby 今なら言える I miss you It’s so hard to say I’m sorry たとえば 誰かのためじゃなく あなたのために 歌いたい この歌を 終わらない story 続くこの輝きに Always 伝えたい ずっと永遠に Memories of our time together 消さなで このまま don’t go away あたたかく溶けだして 確かめるの 優しさのしずく この胸にひろがってく 切ないほどに I’m missing you 重ねた手 離さないで たとえば 叶うなら もう一度あなたのために 歌いたい この歌を 終わらない story 絶え間ない愛しさで tell me why 教えてよ ずっと永遠に たとえば 誰かのためじゃなく あなたのために 歌いたい この歌を 終わらない story 続くこの輝きに Always 伝えたい ずっと永遠に たとえば 叶うなら もう一度あなたのために 歌いたい この歌を 終わらない story 絶え間ない愛しさで tell me why 教えてよ ずっと永遠に ... read more
