It was sunny and nice. We are on the road to Tallahassee for the night on our way to Orlando for 5 days. It felt like we were there for a week. We expected to wake to rain/storms this morning. There was a system coming out of the Gulf that was huge and traveling North East along our driving path. Guess what? Once again we stayed out of it. It didn't hit NOLA so we started in sunshine and traveled behind it all the way to Tallahassee. We didn't see any rain until Tallahassee ... read more

For the second Spring Break in a row we have decided to take the kids on a cruise. Since we live in Florida it is only a four hour drive to the Port Canaveral and these days it seems cheaper than a hotel at Panama City Beach, FL or Destin, FL. Jeff and I went on our first cruise for our Honeymoon in 2001. We didn't have a clue about anything! I had never stepped foot on a cruise ship and truth be known I do not think at the time I knew anyone that had been on a cruise. Well, when 'ol Jeff booked the cruise the travel agent was so nice. She was able to give him an upgrade. How exciting! First cruise and upgraded. This is going to be the best trip ever! ... read more

This weekend I will be traveling to Savannah, Georgia with my twin sister and some pretty fun lifelong friends. Let's meet them.... Cheryl Well, for those that do not know Cheryl, she's my twin sister. Even though she is 7 minutes younger than me she is the baby of the family. When we were growing up we would always eat dinner at the table every night. We would all tell stories at the table, watch the news and sometimes we were still at the table when Wheel of Fortune came on. My family is funny! We would laugh and laugh every night at the dinner table. It was never a dull night at the dinner table. So, truth be known, our parents instilled having fun into our DNA. Cheryl and I have been on countless family ... read more

Geo: 30.4398, -84.2806We are on the back stretch and reaching for home. Two more blog entries to go. We hit the road this morning at 7:15 and 81 degrees with clear skies and headed for Baton Rouge, the capitol of Louisiana...but you knew that, of course. The drive took us through bayou country with roads raised over the water that go on for miles without relief. Fishermen were in boats below us and who knows who else…maybe my favorite Ax Man, Shelby, looking for sunken logs. (Smile). And so, the word for today is WATER. I began this blog with water in Niagara Falls and I am coming to a conclusion with water in the bayou. Seems fitting. The trees began to look familiar, southern yellow pine, live oak, cypress and I don't know what else. ... read more

If we don't have it we can buy it..... Three iPhones, 2 laptops, an iPad, a kindle and an iPod. I think we got the all the electronics covered! Our day has started off pretty smooth so far. We picked up mom and dad and we are headed to Jacksonville to catch the first leg of our flight. Dad is driving us over to Jacksonville and he will come pick us up when we get back. Alton, Kelsey and Megan are already in Jacksonville. They will meet us at the airport. We are flying from Jacksonville to New York, New York to Amsterdam then Amsterdam to Edinburgh. We will arrive Monday morning at 8 am. Edinburgh is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time so we will be arriving at 3 am 'our time.' I have ... read more

I cannot recall a vacation that did not involve the beach or a cruise ship. Sounds weird but all the vacations I have been #beachbound. I sure do love a beach. My mom put that bug in us at a very young age. She also encouraged us to use baby oil instead sunscreen and taught us how to use peroxide on our hair. What can I say, she was born and raised in Panama City, Florida. She raised beach bums. Love ya momma! Planning a sight seeing trip verses a beach trip has been a learning experience. Then throw 'out of the country' and top of that and I am way out of my element. I had/have absolutely no clue what I am doing! Thank goodness for the World Wide Web, all electronic devices that access ... read more

Well having an extensive wardrobe has never really been my thing. I have outfits for the right occasion but I've never been accused of an excessive wardrobe. Pretty sure the folks in my circle have all my outfits memorized. For those that do not know Jeff (my husband) and I have a 9 years old and an almost 12 year old. I have been working from home for abut 8 years now. I do not need actual clothes to drop the boys off at school or when I attend their sporting events or when I go grocery shopping. I do have a rule that I cannot drop them off in my pj's and I have to have a bra on. I've got standards you know. My wardrobe choices are more along the lines of which color ... read more

Well, not sure how this thing is going to go but I'll give it a shot. I would not classify us as world travelers. We are really campers. We camp in North Florida and South Georgia. We have also been on our fair share of cruises to the Carribean and Mexico. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine that we would be applying for our passports and making plans to travel to Scotland, London and Paris. I am not sure how all of these plans started but I know part of the plans started because of my golfer husband and circumstances of my extended family. I am not sure the audience that I am writing to so I feel that there might be a little explanation that might be required. I started golfing when I ... read more

Washington DC as the US capital has lots of government buildings, national institutions and shrines- it has some similarities to Canberra but on a bigger scale. The highlight for me was attending the 50th anniversary of the Martin Luther King's march and famous speech - President Obama spoke at the ceremony as did former presidents Clinton and Bush- I was there from 12 noon to 3 pm along with 100,000 people - I was about 1 mile away from where Obama spoke on the steps of the Lincoln memorial but there were big screens and speakers about the place - it is interesting that the event was co-ordinated by the National Parks and Special Services- I bought a tee shirt as a memento of the occasion. I also visited the various memorials in Washington and traveled ... read more

Day 13 May 16, 2013 Because I went to bed so early I woke up at 3:30 and decided to get up and have a nice leisurely morning. Then I looked at the map and realized that I was two hours south of Tampa and if I didn’t get past before rush hour, I would be stuck in traffic all morning. So I left at 5:15 and made it past Tampa without too much trouble. The weather was good, nice and cool and it was nice watching the sun come up. That is such a peaceful time of the day, even if you are tooling down the road at 72.5 mph on a Goldwing. I had planned on stopping in St Petersburg to see the Dali museum, but it would have delayed my trip by almost ... read more
