10:45pm 68*, welcome to Florida!! about an hour outside of Tallahassee o on route 10. Another night in the van and will find a place to set up camp in the am. "Ignite your sense of adventure" Dove travel candy. Re- Posting our first entry, not sure what happens to it!...we are on the road!! We both left a few tears behind in Somersworth as we pulled away- this is such an amazing experience. We officially put the For Sale sign on the front lawn and pulled out at 10:23am- hoping to piggy back driving duty and get as far south as we can with a destination of the Florida Gulf coast. (current location- Delaware Memorial Bridge with Jo behind the wheel and Kona snoring in the back seat, 8:00pm).... read more

We started early today..far earlier than yesterday, good thing too.It turns out we needed all day to drive. I will advise the following is not a narrative. It is not completely in order.. We were out the door of the hotel by 8:00, we gassed up and headed a few exits down the highway to find breakfast. We went to “Waffle House”, the ubiquitous southern early morning, full-menu eatery. It was quite satisfactory. Prior to returning to the road we programmed GPS’s and got a clear picture of what we had to accomplish. Seven hundred forty seven miles from breakfast to bed. We started with sunny skies which soon deteriorated into leaden overcast which chased us with showers most of the rest of the way to Jacksonville. We had a brief break the last 20 miles ... read more

Yet another travelling day. They get really draining, however with the sleep deprivation that comes with Contiki, it is becoming increasingly easy to sleep on the coach. Today was a pretty long day, split up by a few short stops just for lunch and drinks. For dinner we went to Applebee's, which is a chain American restaurant. It wasnt too bad, but they had 2 for 1 drinks deals which alot of people took full advantage of, me not being one of them (seriously, I didnt want a big night). After dinner we went to a place called Pockets, which as you guessed is a pool hall. But it was so much more than that, they also had mini bowling lanes, ping pong and beer pong. I got to play my first ever game of beer ... read more

Hotel Problems.. Gold members of Residence Inn, Marriott should really be getting better service than what was experienced in Tallahassee! We checked in at 7pm and housekeeping were still cleaning rooms, normal check in time is 3pm, so whats going on? An apology would have smoothed things over but instead the receptionist was rude and aggresive! So Jenni had to remind her who the customer is and that it's not the customer's fault for checking into a hotel... we then left and found another Residence Inn 3miles down the road... Most of us slept ok, but for the driver and navigator it was Hell-Hotel! Children running up and down the passages, people talking and smoking under their bedroom window, this all at 12:30am and the reception guy didn't give two hoots! But later in the day ... read more

as represented by 100 different Chinese characters. You can buy it on a scroll in China. It was on my list but I couldn't find it what with all the 100 ways of finding happiness in completing my family. The first night we were home, we started to see tiny pieces of Jin's history emerge. He couldn't figure out how to navigate the step in our living room, which means that he'd never gone up stairs before. He immediately climbed aboard the train we have that you sit on and wheel around the room, which means that he'd been on something similar before. In the morning, I gave him his first breakfast in the U.S. - formula and pumpkin and banana and almond butter baby oatmeal. It is a week now that we are home. Jin ... read more

Agnes, Crenshaw, Lord Farquad, Jheff, and The Kraken converge at the new apartment (for the first time!) in Tallahassee before continuing on to the ATL to see Precious work it out with Carolina Crown. We thought it would be appropriate to show Emily and Jheff a campus adventure in true trifecta style...much mischief ensued. ... read more

Since coming home with Bao from Vietnam, we would play a game with him. "I'm gonna get you!" "I'm gonna get you!" Then we would stomp towards him slowly in a greatly exaggerated menacing fashion, grab him, and he would scream in delight. Of course it is a game of run and catch, of hide and seek, but also a game showing that he is part of us, that he belongs with us, a sense of belonging, a family. We can never believe that he doesn't tire of this game, with its predictable ending of that we never fail to "get" him. We don't really know how to convey to him that he is getting a brother, someone that for good and bad, will be with him for life, someone that he didn't start with, like ... read more

On our way to home sweet home. Of course we had to pull over to see the Tallahassee Auto Museum while we were here. Unfortunately they are not open yet, so we will continue on. They have about a hundred of the finest automobiles, including an 1894 Duryea, the oldest known surviving fully manufactured pre-production Duryea. The last 100 miles is always the longest, and we make one last stop at Chili’s Restaurant for a late lunch, knowing that there is no food at home, and going to the grocery store today is not in my immediate future! Home sweet home. Thank you Lord for bringing us home safely. And thank you all for following us on our journey by way of this blog. We hope you enjoyed it! I know it was a trip we ... read more
