One of my friends, Laurie, wanted a last minute girls trip to Panama City Beach, FL for her 30th birthday, so with just a few days to plan, 4 of us got together and hit the road for a fun weekend! Cruise montage video with lots of silly video clips - YES we are dressed up and lip-syncing to New Kids on the Block: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukhqPBTVRKo Laurie, myself, Mandy, and Jennifer left the Atlanta area about 6am on Friday for the drive down. Aided by our Dunkin' Donuts coffee and breakfast, we were fueled until we rolled into PCB around lunchtime. Wanting to make it a special weekend for Laurie, we did little special things throughout the weekend. I had ordered a cookie cake online to pick up once we got into town. It worked out so ... read more

Men kom hit igårkväll rätt sent. Så blev bara en snabb middag och sen göra sig i ... read more

Sleeping in the humidity was pretty gross but this morning we go snorkelling and dolphins spotting on a boat... no dolphins however we do a bit of snorkelling and I do some paddle boarding which was quite fun! After this we go back to camp then to Spinnakers club to watch the world cup final between Germany and Argentina, Germany won! After the game we had another dip at the beach sans stingray this time. Christine cooked us dinner of prawns, corn on the cob and salad. We watched the sunset on the beach and me, Cat and Christine went on the sling shot ride which was right next to the campsite! We bought the video recordings which was hilarious! Had a couple of drinks tonight and had an early one. Tomorrow we go river tubing.... ... read more

We drove south to Flagler Beach, Florida on Wed Nov. 14th. We are at Gamble Rogers Memorial Recreation Area which is about 30 north of Daytona Beach. Our camp site is about 50 yards from the Atlantic Ocean surf, at high tide. Nice view and pleasently noisy from the surf. It’s been cloudy, windy and cool. 65-70 degrees. On Friday we took a bike ride to the Inter-coastal waterway and saw more sail boats headed south. We haven’t seen any alligators yet. There are a number of RV parks in the area. It looks like they are about 30% full. I guess it is a little early in the season for most of the snowbirds. We drove across Florida to the Gulf coast on the 17th. The highway passes through a very remote part of Florida. ... read more

It was up early this morning as the wind has changed and it really is going to clear. Shower and coffee, grab breakfast and head for the dock. We have been wanting to go to Shell Island since we got here but the excursion boats only run on Tues and Thurs in the afternoon and since Dedie flies out today we have to do it in the morning. There is a rental right at the dock in the campground and we decided to brave it and rent a pontoon boat and drive ourselves to shell island, how hard can it be? We got to the dock at 9 and received our instructions on how to start the boat, how to pull the motor up in shallow water, how to navigate, and where to dock at the ... read more

2-26 and 2-27 The days are running together. This area has been under a cloud since Dee arrived on the 21st. All she wanted was a little sun on the beach but it is not to be. So we have been touring the area and getting to know Panama Beach real well. We visited the pier with all it’s beautiful shops, not the same old thing as home but unique ones. We have had wonderful meals at some restaurants along the way and seen beautiful sights. Dee had raw oysters and said they were the best she ever had. Then last night we found an Italian place whose owner was from Jersey and she had shrimp scampi and said it was the best she ever had. I had veal parmesan and it was one of the ... read more

As in yesterday’s blog, I got up an hour earlier than I had to to get to the rv repair place. I guess I need a caretaker. We did get to have leisurely coffee but no breakfast, disconnected the electric, secured everything and headed out to repair the antenna wire. With the help of the gps we found the place and Oscar was allowed to come in and wait inside the showroom where it was warm. It was really chilly this morning. The guy got a ladder, got up to the roof, screwed the parts back together and we were in business. So now we can watch shows tonight and Dedie can watch the Oscars tomorrow night. Yeh! Then we found a McDonalds for breakfast because they have wifi. We got breakfast and an internet connection ... read more

The weather has become the major factor in what we do. It started out warm today but cloudy so we went for a walk to the dock, the gator lake and the beach. Dogs are not allowed on the beach so we took turns looking. The wind was really blowing and the surfers were out in force. Lots of waves but not much to ride. We walked back and poor Oscar was pooped. His ears were red dots on the underside and he just laid in the sand at the camper. After a while he was fine, but enjoyed being in his bed, he was really hot. Dee and I drove to the beach in the afternoon because we had a cooler and chairs and didn’t want to carry them that far. It was really windy ... read more

Blog 2-22 and 2-23 We were very lay back Tues 22rd, had coffee then went to check out the manatees and much to our surprise we saw 5 off the end dock. They didn’t come into the channel to the spring but they just hung out for quite a while. The vultures were extra bold and were entirely too close for our comfort. Don’t hold still too long! They are standing in the trees with their wings spread out, maybe trying to get all the sun they can as it is a little cool this morning. In the afternoon we went for a walk on the north trail and were very surprised by a family of wild pigs. There were black ones and red ones all squealing for their lives about 7 of them. It turned ... read more
