We arrived in Tucson last night at about 11pm and checked into the ctest lil hostel ever! Its a little house that has been made into a hostel. We were stoked cos there was only one other lady in our female dorm of 6. She proved to be a very "interesting" character and we thought my goodness what r we in ffor?! And boy what were we in for!!!! We settled into our bunks absolutely exhausted from a full days driving and within seconds "jan" had started snoring! And when I say snoring I mean SNORING!! Like nothing I have ever heard in my life before. there were snores, there were snorts, there was choking...my goodess and the volume of it all was unbelievable! So, needless to say, even with ear plugs neither of us got ... read more

The Voyager RV Resort in Tuscon, Arizona features many activities for its winter time guests. My favorite is the Bocce courts; count ‘em – 4 top grade bowling venues. The courts are available for open play seven days a week, except when scheduled events are held during week days. There are scheduled events every weekday when folk staying at the Voyager can participate in organized bocce competition. Bocce has become so popular at the Voyager, that on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, two sessions are scheduled to accommodate all the folk interested in playing. The competition is friendly, and a lot of camaraderie is built among the participants. Oh sure, there is some baiting and cat calls here tossed around during play. February 2011 is my second year in a row to visit the Voyager for a ... read more

My online photography friend TJ and I happened to be in Tucson at the same time, and decided to go on a photo shoot together. We belong to two photography groups where we upload our photos and discuss our craft. He was camped in his trailer west of the Tucson Mountains in Tucson Mountain Park. I picked him up at his site in The Beast, and we set out for Mission San Xavier Del Bac several miles to the south, with our photo gear. The day featured an Arizona blue cloud spangled sky; a perfect backdrop for the white facade of the Franciscan mission situated on the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation. The inside of the chapel is adorned with statues, icons, mural paintings and ornamentation; a rich tapestry of historic regional culture. Construction of the current ... read more

Houston, et al; we have landed in Tucson! Here is where we are at the Voyager in Tucson; click on the following link: Click the link below to see where we are at Voyager RV Resort: url=http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=32.09179,-110.83389&ll=32.09179,-110.83389&ie=UTF8&z=12&om=1Voyager RV Resort in Tucson We enjoyed a wonderful month in Casa Grande, at the Palm Creek RV and Golf Resort. This may be the nicest place we have stayed at; and the most expensive. I have discovered and fallen in love with lawn bowling. But there is no lawn bowling where we are headed, at the Voyager in Tucson. However, they do have a wonderful, organized bocce ball program with artificial grass on four courts. But, to digress. While I am not busy participating in fun activates, I enjoy editing travel photos and creating digital works of art. I ... read more

THE BASICS We left snowy Durham in the early morning hours of January 13. Mike drove us to the Manchester airport, and by sometime late that afternoon we arrived in Phoenix. We spent several days at my brother's, sleeping first inside the house, and then reunited with our dear RV in the driveway. Our biggest Phoenix-area adventure involved my brother driving us out into the desert to see a regional model airplane meet. On to Tucson, parked at a 55-plus resort, we have already renewed once for two more days. We spent a pleasant morning at the Tucson Museum of Art, and yesterday we traveled to the Titan Missile Museum, Tubac, and a favorite little town, Patagonia. Mostly, we are relishing the warm sun. It can get down into the 30's at night here in the ... read more

We wake up around 7, Ken goes down to get coffee. We shower and pack up. Time to pick up Josh and Eduardo at the Sophia. We are on the road by 8:30. I’m sitting in the back with Josh and Eduardo so I can spend as much time with them as possible. They are leaving to go to Phoenix after we get to our house and do a load of laundry. Their flight to Mexico City leaves tomorrow morning. Then they will spend one week there before flying home to Prague. I have to get up at 3:45 am tomorrow. I’m flying to Madison, Wisconsin for training for work. Back in the grind immediately. I am thankful for the last week. We got back to Tucson around 4pm. Josh and Eduardo did a couple loads ... read more

The trip doesn’t really begin until tomorrow but for me it began somewhere during Thursday night, when I woke up many times with that excited ‘kid like’ feeling in my stomach. Then at work, it was difficult to concentrate…. I haven’t seen Josh in over 3 years and we are meeting Eduardo for the first time. We are so excited. Josh and Eduardo live in Prague. They have been in Mexico City since Christmas, visiting his family. They are supposed to be at our house when we get home from work, around 4 pm. I baked Dilly bread, Scandinavian cookies and Peanut Butter/chocolate bars for him last night. Ken and I coordinate our arrival at home, because we want to experience this together. We get home and they are not there yet. A bit disappointed but ... read more

Dear Family and Friends, We hope that you are enjoying this wonderful time of year. All is well with both of us. As you can see, we continue to hit the road every chance we get. Our most recent trip took us to Arizona and Utah for the first two weeks of December. It was a great trip with lots of hiking, basketball games, and beautiful scenery. Now, we are back home celebrating the holidays with family and friends. Our best wishes are sent your way for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. God Bless, Pam and Ron ... read more
