EDITOR NOTE: This was my first time blogging. This entry is WAY to long! I just kept adding to it, until I finally realized I could break them up. All that follow are much shorter and highlight our explorations around Mexico! We have big news for the new year! On December 25th we leave for Mexico. We are moving to the heart of Mexico, Santiago de Queretaro. I am taking sabbatical from the University of Cincinnati and I will be teaching at Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey Campus Querétaro. We will be living in Santiago de Queretaro, Mexico from about December 28th to June 30, 2007. We just secured a house last week! Keep us in your prayers & thoughts! DEC 30 Well, we made it!

Well I spent most of the day online and VERY bored...although I did help my family put up some Christmas decorations. My two brothers came from Guadalajara, but it isn't that different cuz they are only here to eat really. They have classes and friends here, so they are like NEVER home. Fabiola and I worked on the decorations, our mom worked on the cooking, and Felix (the maid) cleaned the house...exciting stuff right! Anyway after lunch I went to the movies with my uncle and cousin (my cuz is like 30 and my uncle 60). It was actually a really good movie though. It was called El Ilusionista or for you non-spanish speaks The Illusionist. It had an awesome trick ending. I would definitely recommend it. Anyway I got back around 7 and watched tv ... read more

Ok, I realize I have been here in Tepic for four months (wow! still can't believe it). I decided I will stop being lazy and write. I will try to sum up what I have done so far. Pay attention, this could get long! Family I figured the first thing I should talk about is my family. Normally I live with my mom and little brother in ummm, Plymouth Mass, but I am originally from Wrentham. Lately we have had a stepfather, but for the longest time it was just the 3 of us. Now I live with my mom, Gabriela, my father, Luis, and my sister, Fabiola. My mom and dad are architects. My mom also owns a café. I like it there! Fabiola is 19. She works at the café and takes a course ... read more

I need a crown replacement. My dentist at home wants $1k to replace it. I read (and saw a 60 minutes episode) on Americans going to Mexico to get dental work. Virtually everything I saw was positive. I found a dentist online in the town of Sonora/Nogales. His name is Hector Alcazar and he is right over the border. After several email correspondences with him, I found that a crown and exam and cleaning would be $380. Not bad at all. He specializes in cosmetic dentistry. Even better. I made an appointment for the 2nd at 1000. It took a little longer than I expected to park, walk and get over the border so when I finally found his office it was about 1015 and the door was locked, although the sign read open??? I waited ... read more

My dear dear friends... How can ever begin to share with you the magic of the past few days... how does one convey with words the feeling of home, or passion, or love...my heart is overflowing right now, my soul erupting from my skin... too full to stay quiet...even if words wont work properly... After a hot steamy night of salsa dancing with locals in the carribean streets of veracruz until the wee hours of the morning...we got in the car drove a bit, got a few hours of sleep, hit the road the next morning, stopping at every waterfall we could find for a swim, for some natural energy and then made our way through many beautiful cities all the way to Palenque.... ...a sight that you can only feel honored to see...it is the ... read more
