Hello again, Here is an update on the next leg of my trip. Arrived in Mexico City ok and made it too the hostel without getting mugged or anything so things were looking pretty dandy. Have been staying right near the Zocalo or central square of the city near the Palace and other tourist attractions. Have enjoyed Mexico City more than I was expecting to, preconception was that it was going to be dirty and polluted and overcrowded. Well haven’t noticed the pollution directly although it is visible along the sky line, it is busy but not overpowering and no dirtier than other parts of Mexico. Took a day trip out to the Aztec ruins at Teotihuacán which are a large set of ruins famous for the 2 massive pyramids - ‘Pyramid of the sun’ and ... read more

To blog or not to blog? A question I have asked myself a thousand times before setting on yet another travel adventure. The travel diaries I have failed to keep in the past keep haunting me, however this trip has me feeling more positive and hence I have decided to blog!! No backing out now I guess, so welcome to my blog! After much packing and unpacking, planning and unplanning I have arrived in Mexico City, mind you without a guide book and only stories of horror about the capital. The smog, the horrendous traffic, the kidnappings and the muggings! But alas on day 2 of my adventure I have managed to see the sky and city clearly, cross the road without a problem, get safely from the airport in a taxi and order some food ... read more

Cabo San Lucas is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. We began the day bright and early with a little B and E. Forget brunch. We are more into breaking and entering. We had most of the day free and decided to explore the lavish mansions on the hillside. What we didn’t realize until we got up the first 5 massive hills (I’m talking 60 degree inclines here), was that the community was gated. Not a problem for us! We waited until we saw someone leaving and caught the gate behind her as if we belonged. I think my cute sundress helped ;) Our explorations led us to some of the most beautiful homes and views I have ever experiences. Perhaps when we win our first multi-million dollar lottery jackpot, we’ll buy ... read more

Laguna Bacalar This place was gorgeous, helped out by staying in a proper hotel ie not a car, with a view of the laguna from my bedroom window. It's a quiet place to stop for a day or two, in fact, I could have stayed longer. The laguna, which is freshwater, clear and aqua as the Caribbean sea, has huge fish that get up to 2metres long. Apparently snorkelling is wonderful. We didn't have time to go but I forgot to say in the last entry, in Tulum, we did manage some snorkelling, and in a cenote, which was pretty damn cool. A cenote is basically swimming about in caves with lights. Visibility is fantastic, literally metre's and metre's stretch out beneath you. You don't really see fish, but you do get to explore stalagtites and ... read more

The tour was going well as usual, nice glassy morning, and to our suprise, the visibility while snorkeling went from like 8 ft yesterday to like 40 ft visibility, the water seemd a few degrees warmer, that is typical behavior of the spring season, when the water temperature drops and rises from day to day, normaly when it tends to go from cold to warmer water it get real clear, and today was unusually like that, so we took advantage of it. once again a fun and safe tour, everybody is back safely in their hotels. www.ramonsecotours.com... read more

We flew from Dallas to Mexico City, arriving mid-afternoon. We grabbed a taxi to our hotel, Colon Mision Reforma. It is in a nice area of town, with Reforma Avenue having large sidewalks with user friendly art pieces every so often. User friendly is meaning that you can sit or lay on the art pieces. Our main focus for tourism was going to Teotihuacán, which are ancient city ruins of a pre-Incan culture. We could tell we were out of tourist mode when we arrived at the ruins. I did not bring sunscreen, a hat or water. A vendor offered to sell me sunscreen but it was $15USD for a small bottle and it seemed like robbery to me, especially since we have three bottles at the hotel, so I opted for a slight burn instead. ... read more

An appropriate theme for our honeymoon would definitely be "Mule" or “donkey.” In Mazatlan, we took a ferry to a small island off the coast and stayed at a beach for the day. It was a bit overcast, but interesting nonetheless. We spent most of the day lounging by the shore. After lunch we did the next most obvious thing… we took a short excursion riding more donkeys around the island. This time, I had a donkey willing to behave itself.... These donkeys or mules of whatever they are made us sad, though. They just looked overworked and underfed. I wanted to smuggle them off of the island and home to Missouri, but common sense prevailed. How would I get them into my luggage? The most interesting part of the day was the piñata. I have ... read more
