Dream trip of traveling around the world. We have a general idea of where we are headed but only time will tell where the journey takes us.

Follow along with us on our trip around the world. Many have dreamed of doing it but we have decided to throw caution to the wind and make it a reality. We hope to travel for around 9 months.

Proposed itinerary: Scandanavia - Russia- China - SE Asia - Australia - South America - Mediteranean Europe - Africa - Europe

From Tanzania we flew to Cape Town with a short lay-over in Jo'berg. We arrived late after flying all day and were glad to be greeted with a shuttle to the hostel where we quickly had a shower, switched off the alarm and jumped into soft beds. Monday, day one had us trying to hire a rental car for the four days and booking the tours we are hoping to go on. The first tour booked was Sam's Great White shark diving followed by my golf tee time for later in the week and finished with a wine tasting tour. After spending a good portion of the day haggling over rental prices and what is actually included in the "full coverage" insurance (tires, damage from break-ins, windows-not covered in SA) we decided to try and head ... read more

We arrived in Tokyo via Chicago from Seattle. It was a long flight but I was lucky to have two seats to myself which I curled up and slept most of the flight except for when food was being served. Scott was not as lucky he had to sleep upright. Even with all the sleep jet lag hit me like a ton of bricks. I was lethargic for two days. The first night we stayed in a hotel right by the airport and then moved into Tokyo for the next few nights. We stayed in the Ginza district which is famous for its shopping, think 5th Ave in NY. We walked around one evening in the Shibuyu district which is like Times Square, with lots of lights and interesting people. Many women dress very sexy, kind ... read more

We caught the 1:33 train from Vienna and were pleasantly surprised at the nice modern train for our four hour journey. The only problem was something we constantly face while traveling by train. Where do we put our packs because they sure as hack don't fit in the tiny overhead compartments? After stuffing bags under seats up and down the aisle we settled in for a 4 hour trip. Once we arrived at the train station we went in search of an ATM where Sam promptly took out only $20. Fortunately a group of German backpackers were leaving Prague and gave us their metro pass that was still valid for 3 more days. We checked into our hostel and went in search of food. We found a nice restaurant that had excellent food and the ... read more
