After the trip back from Mbeya, I had one day to take a shower, say goodbye, went to my roomates mom's house which has a nice garden i wish i had known about and where her mom made me my last plate of peas and rice, and had a last dinner at angiti, a nice indian place where i filled up on delicious paneer before the midnight flight. the last tanzanian i spoke to was a rasta guy who was exactly like all the rest-clever and sneaky-always being mjanjamjanja, and he gave me a light up red heart pen that i then gave to someone else-maybe the man i went into amsterdam with or maybe a stranger-i dont remember. had a little christmas shot--- these were the things on my mind: quiet cars, smooth highways, unknowingly ... read more

Todays weather was super good, there was nearly no wind what so ever the whole day, it would have been a great kayaking day, but since today we did some Hiking by the Arch of Cabo San Lucas, the temperature was great, we saw some whales when we where at the very top of the mountain, its official, Whale Watching is on!! The sun set can be seen from Sol Mar Beach, unlike the summer where it goes down by the hills, now we saw it sink right on the sea! Everything was great, everyone happy and safely back in their hotels. www.ramonsecotours.com... read more

I went back to Vallarta on the 30th, with my friend Jozefien from Belgium, and we stayed at my friend Olivia's house. We went to the beach on the 31st.. just so we'd be nice and relaxed so we could stay out all night.. haha We started off with dinner at Olivia's house... With her dad, mom, and some of her mom's friends. Her dad is a really good cook (he's from Sweden, so we had a swedish-mexican meal. SO good.) and we finished it off with DELICOUS chocolate cake, yum yum. haha. There was also a guitar man that Gilda (say it Hilda... remember, your in mexico and G sounds like H) hired. When you're eating fabulous food, on the balcony, under the stars, with candles, and guitar/piano music.... basically you just realize that you ... read more

Greetings from San Miguel de Allende! We’ve spent the last two weeks here with Mom. We picked her up from the airport in Mexico City at 6:00 am on Christmas Day and then hopped on the first bus to San Miguel. We had a nice little Christmas during the five hour bus ride, exchanging gifts and such - truly a Christmas to remember! Before we left San Miguel we did a few things in Mexico City that weren’t covered by the last blog. We got sick for one thing… That was after flying too close to the sun with the street tacos. Also, we went to this neighbourhood in the South of the city, called Xochimilco, where people farm in a manner reminiscent of Aztecs agriculture in pre-Hispanic Mexico City. Mexico City is built in the ... read more

ANGLAIS Time for some sun sand and sea. Home is a thatched wooden shack thing right on the beach. We're doing nothing for a few days. There are ruins nearby and freshwater caves called cenotes to paddle in, but mostly we're doing breakfast, hammock, beach, lunch, hammock, beach, dinner, wine, dark Mexican rum.....breakfast etc. As the shack is costing more than a few pennies, cheap tortilla and barbecued chicken dinners are in order. Eating in places with plastic chairs seems to be the answer. Also wine by the carton at 20 pesos (£1) helps with the budget, but 100 pesos corkage means it makes more sense to drink it in the street. Très chic! On one of our "adventure" days we went to swim in 3 cenotes (limestone caves whose roofs have collapsed and that are ... read more

Since arriving in Guanajuato yesterday, I have spoken more Spanish than in I did in all of 2006, toured the entire city with our familia and found time to get in about 16 hours of sleep. I love this place! Nestled in the mountains of central Mexico, Guanajuato is storybook charming. The narrow cobblestone streets wind around courtyards, parks, churches and cafes. The stone houses, stores, churches and restaurants are washed in reds, pinks, blues and yellows. Our house is a lovely rust red, perched on a San Francisco-worthy hill about 5 minutes walking distance from the town center. We are staying with la familia Bertha Rodriguez: Ana, Hector and their children Ana (19) and Alexandra (17). Both the girls are in school, have boyfriends and therefore do not spend much time at home. Ana and ... read more

Hello again: The Bay of Cabo San Lucas was great conditions for Kayaking for the first part of the tour, no one was out, there was no wind and got to swing around the Pacific side and then to Lovers Beach with no complications. The waters visibility was very poor and it was cold even with a wetsuit, any ways the Sawkins stuck it out and had a good snorkeling session. there was one cruis ship in town, that meant lots of Jet skiers on the way back an chopy water around the 11:00 Am Mark, thank God we start early and can at least have the first part of the morning very calm. Well, once again our tour was a succes, people had a great time and everybody is safly back in their hotels. www.ramonsecotours.com ... read more

Today the conditions were some of the worse I've ever seen; There were 2 cruis ships already in the bay by 8:00 AM, so that meant a lot of trafic, also a lot of people were doing Jet Skis, cruises around the bay and Glas bottom boats. The water was real chopy by the time we had to get back around 11:00 Am and our snorkeling session was very poor visibility, the water was a Algy green color and a bit cold. The family I had today was also not really up to it, they where hang over, rude and didnt like to follow any of the indications, basicaly a bad tour, non the less the people were returned safely to their hotel like always. www.ramonsecotours.com... read more
