More photos. These photos are from the stay I had in the middle of Guatemala at Oasis Chiyu. It was awesome, felt like I really was in the true Guatemala. The host, Philipe, originally from the USA, is an amazing guy and he makes your stay so worthwhile. There is no electricity, phones or email, we washed in the river in his property and it was just so relaxing out there. Philipe took us on a number of walks, expolring waterfalls, caves and springs, it felt totally untouched with no tourists around. It has probably been one of the highlights of [View Full Entry]

I was not all that excited about the Volcano Pacaya trip. I had looked at the photos from the tour agency and yes they looked impressive but they also looked years old, so I was not really expecting too much. In my mind it was a nice cheap day trip, but my expectations were not very high. Again I think this is a very good thing when traveling, it is better to have surprise than disappointment!! Woo hoo! We made it! After leaving Guanajuato at 7am in the morning, we finally crossed the border into Guatemala a mere 15 hours later and then travelled some more into Guatemala city. The border crossing was uneventful, as was the other 33 or so hours spent on the bus. Now we were quite apprehensive about travelling into Guatemala, again the stories we had heard and the Rough Guide stating that personal safety is a concern, so we were not sure what to expect. So last blog entry I was still going about all the food in Mexico especially at this fair! It really was incredible, but of course I loved every part of it. I even think I enjoyed looking at all the food stalls more than seeing the dolphins jumping out of the water. We spent the whole day at the fair and met up with some class mates there, which was great, I then had company on all the amusement rides. So the most exciting thing about studying Espanol in Guanajuato, is the fact that I can now correctly pronounce the town in which I will stay in for four weeks to study Spanish! However I do need to rewind as last time I left an entry was when we were in Mexico city a few weeks back. To blog or not to blog? A question I have asked myself a thousand times before setting on yet another travel adventure.
