This last week in PEI has been great, it started with the 13 kilometer confederation bridge coming from New Brunswick onto PEI. We camped at a small campgrounds just out of Charlottetown and decided to do all our sightseeing from there. The trees are just starting to show some fall colours. We toured Charlottetown first and around every corner there is a little history of Confederation. Down at the pier local musicians perform on the streets. At Founders Hall we did a walk through time starting in 1864 with the meeting that led to the birth of Canada and on July 1 1867 Canada became reality, this museum walk through was excellent and worth it to see. If it’s Tuesday, this must be Prince Edward Island I see passing by through the outside window of our Lanai Cabin. The deep reddish orange earth of the coast touching the water along the south coast of the island is unmistakable, from viewing “Anne of Green Gables” or watching DVDs from one of my favorite series “Road to Avonlea”. I spot one of the square towered lighthouses on a promontory and decide it’s time for some pictures as we make our way to port. A brisk breeze is blowing and the iron-rich soil makes colorful contrast to the many shades of green. We left Moncton today and headed for the Hopewell Rocks! Google it if you don't know what it is! Basically it's the only place in the world you can walk on the Ocean floor because of the quick tides. As we were walking there...which was about a 15 min hike down the paths Jen and I both had to go to the bathroom. As we approached Jen reminded me of how she hated outhouses..."It will be fine!!" I tried reassuring her. Well Jen walked in two seconds and came out saying "I can't do it!!!" HAHAH What was even funnier was that a cub scout tried using the public outhouse at the Hopewell Rocks and came out gagging and said "That's just wrong!".Lol. Ah, a whole day and nowhere to go! well, nowhere in the car anyway. Slept in a bit and had a nice free breakfast at the hotel and headed out for a walk to downtown Charlottetown. Very cool old buildings and houses and churches. Saw a place called Beaton's Wholesale, so we stopped in to look around (since Janet's ancestors that lived in Iris were the Beaton's). Not much there so we moved on. Well, wouldn't you know, we found a local brewery! The Gahon House Brewery. So, we stopped in for a bite to eat (and a beer or two). Yes, Patsy, the Canadian Pub Crawl continues! We liked the stout so much we bought a growler (a 64 oz. jug). It is resting comfortably in our hotel fridge. We were well into the fourth song when the man on my left side turned to me and shouted into my ear. We've got to get you up so you can daunce! You're going to daunce, aren't you?" "Daunce?" "Yes, daunce!" I took a moment to consider this. The guitars and stomping feet made it difficult to make out what he'd said, but after a few seconds I realized I had stumbled upon yet another piece of local dialect. "Oh, you mean dance!" "Yes! That's what I said! Daunce! We've only got a couple of songs until lunch." "Lunch?!" "Yes, lunch!" Something was wrong now. It was nearly 10:00pm - surely he didn't mean lunch.
