We reached Victoria today at 6:00 P.M. and have five and a half hours here before we depart for Seattle. Today is essentially the last day of the cruise and everyone is finishing up their projects and preparing for debarkation tomorrow in Seattle. We have docked in a warehouse secton of the harbour and it is raining!! Our first and only day of rain! I made the last trip through the photo shop to check for any more photos to buy. Walked through the Signature gift shop to pick up any last minute bargans. I found a table with lots of white boxes on it. What is this?, I said, and found that each box had a glass animal of Alaska in it! "On Special, no less!!! So I bought my three - a dolphin, ... read more

We are still in Victoria right now... doing last minute packing and dashing around town getting the last minute necessities that were nearly forgotten! I'm writing this as a test to see how this works, so there isn't anything too interesting to say so far! We're catching the ferry to Vancouver and then a bus to the airport, and fly out at 3:55pm. So in just over 24 hours, we will be on our way. That means that in a short while we'll have something interesting to put in here. Until then! -Hannah and Dan =)... read more

Butchart Gardens and Victoria North America » Canada » British Columbia » Victoria By Blegs June 12th 2007 Erin & Dana After Dana's BBQ with Drew's family and my long day at the Rose Festival races, we headed out around 8pm for Canada. We crossed the border late and got into the ferry line around 2AM. We rested in the car a bit, then took the 6am ferry across to Swartz Bay. Our first stop was Butchart Gardens! It was really nice, we took lots of flower pictures. We spent the day in Victoria; had a really good lunch and smashed up some glassware at Pagliaccis... read more

Where do I start? Last Thursday my cousin’s Kelly & Alex picked me up from the airport in Victoria. It’s so beautiful here. Last Friday Kelly and I went to the airport to pick up Shane. We stayed @ Brent and Chrystal’s place for the first two nights. They have an awesome apartment that is so close to everything. Shane and I went to the Blue fox for breakfast and went and rented a scooter to rip around the harbor with. It was such a beautiful clear blue-sky sunny day. We walked along the wharf to the light house and watched sailboats and cruse ships doc. We then took the scooter to the other side of the bridge to Esquimalt and had a beer at this cute little seafood restaurant and pub. Friday night was ... read more

Phuket is a beautiful island in Thailand, paradise! I had someone from the Muay Thai camp waiting for me when I got off the plane from Bangkok. The camp is situated on a hill and the road that goes by it goes to some of the most beautiful beaches on the island. I checked in to the camp and got assigned my bungalow. Pretty sweet. My own place! Had my own kitchen, bathroom, TV, DVD player. I had to share it with about 4 geckos, which were welcome, hoping they would eat any mosquitoes or the ants. Those little dudes sure are noisy! I settled in and walked up to the main rain and grabbed a motorcycle taxi to take me into town so I could grab some food. Motorcycles or scooters are the main ... read more

Once again sorry I haven't written in a while. I have no excuse this time since I have the internet in my apartment now. Anyways in the past couple weeks i've done quite a bit. Well two week i did a trip to Victoria, Vancouver Island. It was a beautiful little place. I stayed at the Strathcona Hotel that had a couple pub attached to it. There was even a cricket themed pub called the Sticky Wicket which my aussie friend went crazy for. It also had 5 different bars including a patio bar on the roof. Attached to it is 2 beach volleyball courts. I did mostly touristy stuff while i was there. I saw the Fairmont Empress Hotel. It was a massive building that took up a whole city block right on the ... read more

June 1, 2007Kristina and Heidi WinterHey Everyone ! Heidi and I wanted to create a website where we could write journal entries on our upcoming trip to Nepal, SE Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Tomorrow it begins. After all these recent emotional rollercoaster days, spent half in laughter, half in tears, I feel strangely flat today. On the weekend I discovered I'd broken my digital camera screen, so I think that disappointment dampened things a little. But thanks to my cousin's great advice, I know that if my camera lets me down, my sketchbook will be there instead. And I guess that's much more romantic anyways - one does not sit outside a Paris cafe and take pictures; one sketches, of course. These trials can seem overwhelming at first, but they won't stop me from enjoying myself. This trip has been years in the making, and I know that I'm exactly the right kind of person to enjoy every moment. One of our travel guides says that in Europe, ... read more

Up at 8am, in the car by 10am, broken down by 12pm! We didn't exactly make it very far out of Victoria before there was smoke billowing out from under the bonet of our Toyota 'Rent-a-Wreck'! So we pull over, inpect the damage and make a knowledgeable decision that the car was in desperate need of some water! So we fill her up, wait a couple of second for the engine to cool and carry on our happy way! After some worrying chugging noices, more smoke and some concerned passengers we pull over for a second time at a very conveiently placed Car Body Shop. As we pull up, and jump out we summonded the help of two guys working on a car! We lift the bonnet to let the engine cool before attemping to ... read more
