Ok so lets start this blog thingee out with pre Vegas shite. Today I went to a Vegas site and bought two tour tickets. One was for a 10hour trip to Laughlin Nevada for Wednesday Feb. 13th. It looks like a really cool place to visit....its about a 2 hour bus ride to Laughlin (which is located at the tip of Nevada and borders Arizona and California....its also right on the Colorado river and has 12 Casinos right on the waterfront. Then I booked a tour to The Grand Canyon. Its another 10 hour tour for Thurs. Feb 14 (Valentines Day...hope Nadine doesn't throw me into it...but will have to take my chances). Then it dawns on me that we will be away from Vegas for 2 out of the 4 days we have there ... read more

This blog is a little late but on the 9th of January Ben booked a nice Bed and Breakfast in Victoria and we snuck away for a night alone. We stayed in an old B&B with 5 massive rooms, and we had the 'Emily Carr' room. Named after a famous artist in Canada, back in the day. The room was devine, king size bed, bathroon, lounge room with a fire place and hot tub (YES in the lounge) and the best part was NO television. It took us two buses, the sea train, and the ferry to get there, around 5 hours of travel all up, but ti was worth it. Whilst visitng in Victoria we went to the museum and Imax as well as going to the harbour and shopping. We went to dinner at ... read more

After sorting out a home for the tarantula, who is going to feed the cats, why we're actually doing this, we pulled out of Cobble Hill and the trip became reality-Baja bound-first stop however in Newton to see Joe's sister, 2nd stop Vernon to see the rest of the family, then the real trip. Today was our first attempt at home schooling-needs some tweaking-can't remember the last time that I even considered poetry..Grade 7 math-too difficult for me. I think we might be in trouble. The Spanish is falling dismally short, so I left the kids to their own devices and went out for lunch.. I will become more responsible. This Christmas thing is bumming me out because the thought of braving the shopping malls makes me want to poke something in my eye, and where ... read more

Brian and Jean are off again on their world travels. Got to keep up with Cam and Alistair and keep the number of countries visited competition going. No real new spots this year as the whole family gathers in Australia to celebrate Len and Eileen's 60th wedding anniversary. Just time for a short trip around North Island , New Zealand, try a spot of kyayking in Tasmania and a few days true R & R in the Cook Islands. So we made it to the end. Finished up at work and now we are almost on our way. Just a few things to get packed and Sunday we take the ferry to Vancouver to fly non stop for 14 hours to Auckland.... read more

It's come to my attention that my blog now pops up as #2 on Google if you search for "Jessica Page scout" and for some reason a lot of people actually have been reading it. The first little bit of this entry is a bit whiny and unflattering in terms of my opinion on the way youth involvement is going in Canada. Please don't read too much in to it--this entry was written after a long two weeks of traveling and Scouting and I was tired. I'm happy with our organization's commitment to youth leadership and, although there is always room for improvement, I'm glad to be the one to help keep our vision at the forefront of the agenda. So, please take this entry with a grain of salt, and thanks for reading! *** ... read more

Howdy ho! I am currently chilling in Canada at the moment with me old mucker Kirsta, but there's something missing....It's Edina, she's in San Francisco at the moment, or Sacramento to be more precise, with her friend Tori. We're on the final leg of our tour, and are back to London in 7 days. I don't know what the weather is like there in London but it's bloody freezing here! I arrived here on Sunday 18th November, and stayed in Vancouver with kirsta's friend Shelagh for two days. We drove around Vancouver to see the sites but the weather was pretty bad and there wasn't much that was visible. Thankfully it was better the next day as we trotted up to Whistler. We didn't Ski as there isn't enough snow here yet and not many places ... read more
