Jaime Linda - Linda Morden

After a very interesting year, including me losing my job and Joe losing his boat in a fire, we decided to take the opportunity to travel to the Baja with our son Sam (14), daughter Jaime (12) and our dog Gracie in a motorhome for three months.

Adios to Disneyland, and our last day, with crowds in the billions, we wrapped up our Disneyland experience at 12:30 a.m. last night and dragged our very sore , junk filled bodies home, Sam and Jaime with their Mickeymouse ears-way too much fun. So heres the final tally: We did pretty much everything at the California Adventure Park, Disney railroad twice, haunted mansion twice, Pirates of the Caribean twice, Thunder mountain railroad twice, Pirate;s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island, Mark Twain Riverboat, Splash Mountain 8 times(sam and I), jaime twice, Indiana Jones twice, Tarzan's treehouse, Mi [View Full Entry]

Heres the thing about Disneyland..yes, coffee costs 3 bucks, lunch for 4 is about 50 bucks, and in a day, when you factor in candy floss, carmel corn, pop and whatever-alot of cash, but, it is so worth it in the long run-and this coming from me who hates crowds, being ripped off, and junk food. Why, you ask am I heading for my 5th day without stop to the land of excess?? Because, adults are just big kids, and its like opening up a new present everyday. Everything you do for the first time in Disneyland is catered to the [View Full Entry]

I've been trying to find the time to update this log but this sheduling thing is cramping my style. Suffice is to say that we're back to the land of plenty and have been seeing plenty of it in Disneyland! We've been in Annaheim for a couple of days after spending time in San Diego at Balboa Park-saw the zoo, and a bunch of museums. What am amazing spot-and friendly people, no dog crap and didn't smell like sewer..Its amazing what crossing the border does.. I have to say though, I'm choking at the prices after being away for a month, [View Full Entry]

continued Jan 30 The last few days have really fused into one. Although intermittently windy, this place has been sheer magic. We've been just doing beach stuff-collecting shells, out in the boat, snorkling, reading, writing, taking pictures-just "being" in a wonderful spot. Sam and I have slept in the tent since we got here-the sky and stars have been so vivid, and close-like you could reach out and touch them. The weather has undulated from windy, calm, windy and warm, windy and cold..evenings you have to wear a jacket. Last night the wind blew so much, if I didn't have Sam as [View Full Entry]

We've been away from the internet, but back now so from my journal I'll update life on the road. Loreto continued Loreto was our fix of city living for a couple of nights. We stayed at the Riviera Del Mar, which was situated right downtown-in the owner's backyard literally. We were camped right beside their kitchen. Showers were clean, functioning and all tastefully decorated. There was always tons of people gathered, in this casse by the outdoor laundry room with their laptops, often talking to their kids via headphones-these retirees are right on top of the high tech stuff. We're [View Full Entry]

Well I am a natural mountain climber I do take after my mom after all. Yesterday when we went for a walk downtown dad stopped at the visitors center and the man that ran it told him about a hike that leads to a waterfall with cave drawings it was supposed to be a feminine place where they would have their babies. the hike was almost all boulders we were walking up a dry riverbed, dad said that when they have a big rainfall the waterfall will overflow and the water will come pouring down. unfortunatley we didn't make it to [View Full Entry]

We went whale watching in San Carlos on a day that the locals said was "Loco"-this weather has been sucking !-however, we decided that we'd pretend we were on the west coast, and instead of Orcas we'd watch grey whales. We drove out to San Carlos, bundled up and went out in a panga, joined by a couple of naturalists who were attending a composium on turtles in Loreto. This is the beginning of the whale watching season, and there were a number of boats out, even though the weather was somewhat scary..but we're boating people, and this was calm for [View Full Entry]

I am not writing on my dads laptop right now, I am with Sam in the office on one of their computers. When I look up to the roof it is just like a Palapa but with walls! continued..Unfortuntately it was still blowing and we hoped that tomorrow would prove to be more user friendly, but the clouds were ominous and for the 2nd day in a row cloudy and cool at night. When we were in Salt Lake City, we bought a mesh tent, and still had not christened it, so figured what better place than this. Jaime was all rocked up to sleep outside and rightly so, Sam not so much so-tends to be a little chicken sometimes, so I offerred my services-didn't take much.. Is there anything better than1) camping in a mesh tent, on a [View Full Entry]

We spent one night recouping at Casa Blanca in La Pas doing email, laundry, swimming in the freezing pool(not me), filling up with water-all of the things that you can't do when you're boondocking on a beach. The plan was to travel to Playa Telcolote on the Cortez side and to boat to Isla Espiritu Santo. We arrived at Playa Tecolote in the early afternoon. I was told that beachcombing here was more interesting and was looking forward to spending quality time in search of the ultimate shell, and to begin my shell chime career. It wasn't as crowed as we thought [View Full Entry]
