Well I arrived safe and sound! The plane rides were not as bad as I thought. I had one to the states first that was 2 and a half hours, the second one was to Amsterdam which was about 8 hours and the last one down to Dar es salaam was about another 8 hours. I was able to obtain my visa no problem when I got here. I ran into a couple from the States in line for the Visa who happened to by on my tour. So we grouped together to figure things out. Phuket is a beautiful island in Thailand, paradise! I had someone from the Muay Thai camp waiting for me when I got off the plane from Bangkok. The camp is situated on a hill and the road that goes by it goes to some of the most beautiful beaches on the island. I checked in to the camp and got assigned my bungalow. Pretty sweet. My own place! Had my own kitchen, bathroom, TV, DVD player. I had to share it with about 4 geckos, which were welcome, hoping they would eat any mosquitoes or the ants. I arrived at the Bangkok airport around 7:30 pm on Thursday, May 10. My friend Matt was waiting for me, it was nice to have someone at the airport. First thing first, he handed me a beer. “You mean I can drink this right here right now?” “Yup you’re in Thailand baby.” So we crack our beers and wonder down to the taxi stand to get a taxi, beers still in hand. Singapore! I don’t think anything can prepare you for the heat that you are going to feel when you step off the plane. It felt like someone took my clothes and put them in the dryer on “I am surprised it doesn’t melt my clothes” setting. Then places them back on your body, causing you to sweat profusely so that you feel all sticky and your clothes cling to you like they are holding on for dear life. I arrived in Singapore at 3:00 am. Well I am down to my last few hours in Australia! I can’t believe it has been six months already. Crazy! I planned on staying in Australia for a year but I decided not to work while I was here so my Australian money has run out. Guess that means time to move on to my next big adventure. I did not spend very long in Darwin; I can’t say I really experienced Darwin, well backpacker style anyway. After the Kakadu tour ended, Kate and I sprung for our own room in the backpackers, we had been on tour for the past couple of weeks, we needed our own space. It was awesome. That night we went out with some of the people on our tour for a night of dancing and craziness. Darwin is pretty rocking on a Sunday night, I was impressed. I spent a few days in Alice Springs just chilling out before my next tour. That city is pretty dodgy, one of those places that you wonder why people still live there. If you are female it is “strongly” advised not to walk alone after dark, heck even guys shouldn’t. That is where I spent Easter. I just had the most unbelievable 10 days of my life!! The Outback trip was more then I ever imagined it would be. I could probably write 5 pages on this trip, but I think I will save my stories for when I see you in person. Well I was able to drag myself off the beach for a few hours to give you an update. I don’t actually have a lot to update on as I have become a beach bum since arriving in Adelaide. Before leaving Melbourne I took a trip to Phillip Island where I sat and watched the Fairy Penguins come out of the ocean at night to sleep in burrows on land. Fairy Penguins are the smallest of the penguin species measuring up to only 33 cm tall. They are blue in colour not black and so very cute. They come out [View Full Entry]
