Sazzle Dazzle

As one chapter of my life ends, a new one begins. Words cannot describe how excited I am about the year ahead of me. Travelling alone was always something I thought I would never be able to get my head around, however here I am about to depart on this amazing adventure on my own. I miss you all already!

13th Dec Sunshine!!! Horrah!!! Ah man it feels good to have the sun on my face again after those 4 days of non stop rain! We spend a full day wondering around this brilliant vibrant Malaysian town learning all about the history of the Malays. We take a walk through a beautiful Malaysian village, Kampung Morten just north west of the town, we walk along the river down to china town where we wonder around some beautiful temples. Massive chinese influence here, we presume for the influx of wealth they brought with them with teh trading of spices 100 years or so ago. We visit a heritage museum where we take a guided walk through a beautiful Baba-Nonya house (Chinese Malay). We head back for a well deserved snooze and then hit up the sound and ... read more

The morning after I arrived in Queenstown we had a HUGE dump of snow which basically meant I was here to stay. NO traffic coming in, no traffic coming out...roads closed due to snow. So, I begin my seach of work...not a hope in hell's chance! There are people queing for 6 hrs for a cleaning job, people fitting over the local paper...people selling themselves for rooms to stay! So what do i do?! Decide to stay for a week, pull my hair out over a plan for the next year, drink, eat a lot of noodles and peanut butter and jam sandwiches, and plan my escape...... read more

Arrived in Christchurch with the idea in mind that I needed to get to Queenstown urgently so that I could find work, apply for a visa, and fund my snowboarding season as planned. As all travellers know and hate, plans suck, having a plan means you miss out on goldne opportunities. So in my haste to get to Queenstown, I ignored all the people telling me that I would never find work, that I can't get a visa and that its a waste of time going there unless I'm planning on doing a bungee....erm...well they were kind of right! :-)... read more

To those of you who have been to Fiji, how many of you have been east on the mainland? How many of you have rafted down trepid white water, how many of you have visited a local village, how many of you have travelled the entire mainland on public transport alone, how many of you have watched the all blacks play fiji with a local, how many of you have managed to dive for free, how many of you have swam in natural rock pools deep in the rainforest, how many of you have trekked through the rainforest for free??? I have no idea how I did it but I have and I had such a great time! It rained and rained for the first week or so, I had many a set back, I ... read more

As most of you were aware, yes I did loose my suitcase, yes I did spend three days wearing the same pants, jeans and stinky blue top and yes my first three days did suck. I arrived in Nadi on the Thursday and left on the Friday to a beautiful resort south of the main land called Mango Bay Resort. Although a very young place, my sanity has resumed along with my backpack and I am now off to discover the rest of the mainland. We went on a sunset cruise yesterday, the water looked so calm, clear and warm that I decided to swim back to shore in the dusky afternoon sun. However as I was the insigator of this activity, and the first person to dive off the boat I did actually misjudge the ... read more

Whale watching North America » Canada » British Columbia » Ucluelet By Sazzle Dazzle May 17th 2007Somehow I managed to do all of this for free!!! I love working for Ron - so many benefits and so much fun! 2 hours of whale watching should have cost us $60 each - instead we paid nothing! Woohoo! It was an absolutely wicked day - Kirsty and I had the most amount of fun reliving our youth and being idiots for a couple of hours. Thank you for such a fantastic day babe - you've become such a good friend! I hope our paths meet again!... read more

Chill day North America » Canada » British Columbia » Ucluelet By Sazzle Dazzle May 12th 2007Another blissful day of sunshine in Ucluelet. After work we headed down to Kennedy Lake to chill with the dogs for the afternoon and catch the sunset with a few beers. Kirsty's dog Jeta is just like the little squirel from Ice Age...such a sweet little munchkin! Nathan's hounds Lupa, Otti and Daisy are all complete nutters! Another wicked day - I love my life!... read more

Happy campers North America » Canada » British Columbia » Ucluelet By Sazzle Dazzle May 12th 2007I was so priviledged to be invited on this sunny afternoon to Kennedy Lake. With a fucked clutch and tension in the air we actually made it out here - I'm sure it helped that all my fingers and toes were crossed the entire way! We stopped to fill the truck with twigs and wood for the fire and the damn thing wouldn't move! So in true 'Little Miss Sunshine' memory Daysi and I hopped out the van and pushed it til Ron could get it going! We totally rock! The camping was a lot of fun and I had a... read more
