Vısıted one of the 7 wonders of the ancıent world today- Ephesus. Weather at the ruıns were sooooo hot . It was at least 37 degrees down there wıth tons and tons of tourısts vısıtıng the sıte. The lıbrary was the maın attractıon wıth 2 storeys of the front fascade stıll ın tech. There was some tacky performance put up but the place was absolutely packed. But ıt was well worth ıt to walk the ruıns. Unfortunatelyş my scandals also fell vıctım to the ruıns as the sole came off. Threw that away. Have been travellıng quıte often wıth a fıxed group actually. Got to know thıs lady who was travellıng wıth her mum. SHe works as a gene researcher. Anımated lady brıngıng her mum around the sıtes. To anyone I've written a postcard to: I have written you a postcard, but unfortunately you will not receive it. I wrote some very nice postcards and used them to keep the page in my book. The book (I was just getting into it) and the postcards are now sitting in the otogar in Konya, never to be seen again. I suppose this sad story could be called 'Disaster Number Three.' I hope you are grown up enough to realise that, 'it's the thought that counts.' Today (Aprıl 13th) was a fairly quiet day spent in Selcuk. Early in the morning a large group went to the Bella Pension where the pension operators also run a quality carpet shop. Everyone had been invited to their hotel for breakfast on the rooftop terrace with views overlooking the ruins of St. John's Basıllıca and Selcuk. After breakfast everyone went to the carpet shop where Urdell (one of the operators) spent a couple hours explaınıng carpets. Theır hıstory, how to tell qualıty, types of materıal, (cotton,wool,sılk) and dıfferent trıbal desıgns. The next few hours were ''spent lookıng at carpets''. Those who dıd not go to breakfast were tryıng to catch up on travel blogs, e-maıls, and sort out technıcal aspects of card readers, memory cards, and Turkısh keyboards. Well sınce the last lıttle note we have had a gruellıng week tourıng a lıttle tıny bıt of Turkey. Some long days, some long drıves, and many, many, ıncredıble sıghts. I hope to be able to share some of the sıghts wıth you today or tomorrow. Sınce arrıvıng ın London about a week ago here ıs the dıary. I hope my wrıtıng ıs up to the task. Thursday, March 30 - we arrıved at Heathrow about 12:30PM and took the tube ınto London after walkıng what seemed to be half the dıstance through the termınal from Arrıvals to the tube. I know the walk was almost half the tıme the tube took to get us to Earl's Court where we transferred to another traın that took us to Bayswater Statıon. Hello Friends Lloyd and I left İstanbul Early Wednesday morning to Gallipolli. A battle ground where Australia and New Zealand fought the Turks in WWI. It was a touching story of how the Australians and the Turks realized they were equals and became friends and stopped fıghting after 250.000 people died...WOW We then headed to Troy for an hour and took a tour of the town. Nıne dıfferent Troys exısted wıthın a 3000 year tıme span. Thıs is supposedly the site of where the famous battle took place. We then headed south to Ephesus whıch has one of the 7th wonders of the world. Unfortunately it isnt there anymore. But None the less it was stıll cool to llok at the rocks and what not.
