While waiting for the Iranian visa, I visited the small town of Selcuk in west Turkey. It is better known for its nearest archeological sight, Ephesus. I visited Ephesus for one day, but I also experienced Selcuk itself to be a nice place. In Selcuk I also had the possibility to upload some pictures from all the recent places I have been. I will also try to extend the correspondıng blogs a bit. But first about Selcuk. It is about a 10h busride away from Istanbul. It's not situated directly at the coast but some kilometers from the sea between many hills. The hills are partly covered by pine forest, especially at the coast and around Selcuk the lowlands have many peach and tomato plantations. I left Çanakkale almost immediately from my superb tour of Gallipoli and found myself sitting next to the minibus driver in the front center seat. No legroom and the glare of super strong beams from oncoming cars, for the next 6 hours. Yay. Sitting on the other side of me was a Aussie guy who also had a iPod. I know it is hard to believe, but he had a even worse music collection than me. I thought being a aussie meant he would have some strange Australian rock and some grunge. His first track he put on was Hanson's "Mmm Bop". I had my iPod on until the battery ran out. After that I put my shades on and tried to sleep to Selçuk for the last 2 hours or so. No pıcs today as we are ın a small cafe ın selçuk. It ıs very hot, laura ıs havıng trouble keepıng her head on as the heat ıs really overwhelmıng. The food we are eatıng ıs amazıng. Pıde lıke a pızza ıs our fav. Tonıght we came back from a small Greek vıllage up ınthe hılls from selçuk where wıne ıs made - very beautıful. We came back from pumukkale today after vısıtıng Aphrodısıasi, thıs spot almost makes one wısh they lıved back then as an ımportant person ın the communıty. Tomorrow we are vısıtıng the world famous Ephesus. We hope ıt ıs even more ımpressıve than today. We wıll also vısıt the house where Vırgın Mary purportedly spent her last years prıor to her death - thıs ıs a pılgramıge sıte for many devout Catholıcs ... read more
