Itinerary from Malatya to Nemrut Dagi and Gaziantep.
14 years ago, July 25th 2009 No: 1 Msg: #80941
Hi !

In a few weeks we will be travelling to Turkey and we need some help to design the best route.

After visiting Malatya, we would like to go (by bus) to Kahta. In Kahta we would take a tour to visit Nemrut Dagi and the sorrounding area. After this, go back to Kahta and take a bus to Gaziantep.

Is it possible to take a bus from Kahta to Gaziantep ? or we will have to go back to Malatya ?

If there is a bus that goes from Kahta to Gaziantep, could you please give me the timetable?

After visiting Gaziantep, we will go to Sanliurfa, also by bus.

How long do you think all this will take us? (Visit Nemrut Dagi and sorroundings, trip to Gaziantep, visit Gaziantep, trip to Sanliurfa and visit Sanliurfa)

Thank you in advance.
Xavier

Hi,
I am living in Istanbul, Turkey and i will answer your question.
You can go to Gaziantep from Kahta, you dont have to go back Malatya.
I dont know timetable but you there are bus Kahta to Gaziantep or You can go to Adiyaman, it is close Kahta and you can find bus easily to Gaziantep or other cities.
Malatya- Kahta takes on2-2,5 hours
Kahta -Gaziantep takes on 2-2,5 hours
Gaziantep -(sanli)Urfa takes on 1,5 hour

I think you come Istanbul first then you will go to Malatya? Why?
You should flight Istanbul to Gaziantep

You should look google map and it will help you too.

i hope i can help you.

Good journey

Hakan,

Thank you for your reply.

My travel will be all over Turkey.

Istanbul is just my entry/exit point. I will not stay there for more than one day because I think that Istanbul deserves a trip exclusively to visit the city.

The rest of the trip will be done in 23 days. I am affraid that I won't have time to complete it all, so I think that when I am at Trabzon I will have to take train or plane to Istanbul. In any case, I have the route planned and I'll do as much as I can.

I will travelling by bus.

You can see my planning at:

Hi Xavier,
I saw your travel plan, i can say wow wow wow 😊 This is my dream too but i should say you if you would like to visit these all places you have to run and you will be tired so much, you will not enjoy much. I am thinking that if i travel somewhere i will be calm and i dont run in hurry and I should try to see everything. I am living in Istanbul and i have been Ankara, Samsun, Trabzon, Diyarbakir, Urfa, Gaziantep, Malatya, Kapadokya, Konya, Antalya, Kas, Pamukkale, Izmir, Bursa. If i were you, i divide 2 and next year you will come again.
But this is your plan.

And i will say you some advice:
If possible you should get a guide.
If you can do, you shoul go to Trabzon by plane, there is no train to trabzon, Istanbul to Trabzon 12-14 hours by bus.
You should do travel in day not night at east,
When you arrive somewhere, suddenly you shoud find a hotel and you should buy ticket where you want to go next. In the evening maybe you find hotel expensive and maybe you can not find bus ticket.
You have to make good plan abaut city and decide how many days you will stay and go to next city.
....

I am saying you again, you should not run you shoul give enought time yourself and enjoy. Because you will not come same place again, you should try to calture and all touristic places.

I dont know, you will come alone or not. If you are 3-4 person you can rent a car and you can do where you want.

You can ask me what you want to know. You can ask me in here or by my email,

Thank you again for your comments. I appreciate them.

I agree with you about it's a long trip. I'll problably reschedule it so I can finish arround Van and from there, take a plane or train to Istanbul and from there, back home.

I've seen that Van has an airport and tickets are not very expensive.

I'll leave the northern part for another year.

Do you know any mid-range hotel located in the Asian part of Istanbul (close to the dock where the boats leave the passengers) ?

Thank you,
Xavier. Reply to this

Hi Xavier,

You should come back Istanbul From Van by plane, because train takes on more 24 hours. Actualy if you like train travel and would like see public peoples you can choose train.
You can stay at RIHTIM HOTEL or MY DORA HOTEL. They are mid range and near the port and centre train station. You make reservation on internet.

Hi,

I wrote an e-mail to Rihtim Otel asking to availability and prices, but I got a "mail quota exceeded" error. I am affraid that they do not pay too much attention to their e-mail and their mailbox is full, so I'll try to book at Mydora.

Thank you for all your help.

Sincerely,
Xavier.

Hi,

I looked mydora's site and
My Dora is 135 TL/Night for one person klasik room included breakfast (average 90$)
My Dora is 170 TL/ Night for two person klasik room included breakfast (average (114 $)

Rıhtim hotel's price close Mydora's price. Two years ago my friends from Germany stayed at Rihtim hotel and price was 125 Tl per night and two months ago my friends stayed at Mydora and the price was same that now.

If you will have problem for reservation, i can make reservation for you. You can pay when you come here.
These hotel are close my job therefore it is not problem for me.
