I set out to create an ultimate bucket list before my next trip, quickly writing down 20 things that I want to do, however I soon hit a brick wall. I see this as an ongoing project, for which I need more inspiration. After reading through other bucket lists thanks to Google I have extended my list to 58 items, however this not enough to aim for in a lifetime of travelling!! Here is my list so far, but please can people suggest many more things to add! If anyone reading this has their own bucket list I'd love to see it too for inspiration. My Travel Bucket List: 1. Learn to Scuba dive – Booked 2. Visit the volcanoes in Hawaii 3. Parasail 4. Christmas on the beach – Attempted but it rained, maybe this ... read more

It is cold! And has been for a while, however following a wee dusting of snow where we thought, oh this is nice.....a dumping of snow has arrived and stayed well and truely for a few weeks! This is all well and good if you live and work inside, but when the pipes freeze and the horses need water what do you do? Oh just bucket water up the hill and take a hammer to smash the inch thick ice twice daily! At the risk of sounding like a wingeing pom the silver lining is, it is all rather pretty, it beats knee deep mud and I have no obligation to do anything except stay inside ( bar feedtimes). Vaughn on the other hand was changing into his snowboarding gear the instant a snowflake appeared.....this was ... read more

As the weather gets progressivly colder, the central heating comes on and the leaves begin to change. I must admit being out in the wop wops has its advantages where you can clearly see the changes in the seasons. Surrounded by trees all the greenery is changing to red, yellow and orange which is all rather pretty. Frosty morning are not my favourite thing ( the car doesnt like it either) but it normally promises a sunny, but cold, day. I have been very lucky to always have fireworks on my birthday and as it is still guy fawkes here on my birthday weekend i didnt miss out this year. I had a lovely birthday, with gifts from New Zealand including some kiwi essentials like peanut slabs & milo. my lovely boss bought me a pair ... read more

I swear it is minus 10! and today we met Vaughns Aunty, who has moved over for work in a lovely wee village Saxmundham. Luckily our wee car made it, even keeping up with the big boys on the motorway in the pouring rain! I'm now starting to get a glimpse into the renowned english winter. After a wee cuppa & scone ( as you do) we made our way to Sutton Hoo where ancient anglo saxon warriors awaited....yet another part of history Vaughn would love to travel back in time to...much to his delight they had a museum full of Anglo Saxon memorobilia dug from the graves which are in the Saxon Hoo site. To be honest it was actually quite interesting. They used to bury their dead in ships along with their servants, horses, ... read more

Well it's been a week and we have moved to Bury St Edmunds, we have settled into our flat at Boxted Hall and I have sucessfully completed a weeks work at The Open College of Equine Studies. The week has certainly had it's ups and downs. Our landlords have kindly furnished the flat for us, which involved hauling a beds, couches, chairs and tables from the attic.....lets just say our flat is spread over 4 stories with three flights of stairs, not to mention the two attic spaces above us where the furniture came from.....Vaughn's a good pack horse! So we have a lovely, warm house, overlooking the moat and gardens. It is very surreal out here, but surprisingly busy with guests coming and going and today we have been dodging cameras and actors for a ... read more

So I have a job! My dream job at that and it is in the most beautiful area. With work due to start in about two weeks I was on the hunt for a flat, and although my trip to Bury St Edumunds wasn't successful on the flat front it was great to see around the region that would soon be my home. Bury St Edmunds is about 1 1/2 hours from Biggleswade but it seems a longer drive than that. I had heard it was a 'destination point' and now I know why. The history here dates back to the 12th century! The town is much larger than I thought....for some reason I always imagine small wee villages with cobbled streets. Well, Bury has the cobbles streets, but it is quite developed and has grown ... read more

So here we are. It's nearly 9 months since i first started my application and it's finally here. I'll be spending 11 weeks in Carmel Valley, California. The only thing that i know about the place is that Clint Eastwood was once Mayor or so I've been told with many a 'do you feel luck punk' quotes coming out. With all my packing done it was time to have a celebration of an early birthday, diamond jubilee and leaving BBQ. It was a fitting send off with half decent weather, good food and good company! A special thanks to firstly Devvo, Coach and Deano for coming down for the weekend and secondly to Mum and Dad for organising it and thirdly everyone who came! So this is it i hope to keep you entertained and interested ... read more

This weekend mummy and daddy took me on my first ever camping trip. It was brilliant fun! We went to a campsite on the beach at Kessingland near Lowestoft. When we first arrived I was so excited we were on a big field with a few other tents, and I loved watching the older kids playing and I tried to get to a dog nearby but mummy wouldn't let me :-( I helped daddy put the tent up, giving him lots of heavy poles and my pillow, then we had a picnic. After lunch, we had a walk on the beach then went to the park where daddy took me on the slide and pushed me in the swing. Then I played in the soft play area where I got to go down a really fun ... read more

We got talking with two Austrian girls in a restaurant in Lisbon (we were the only diners and yes, people think they are Australian and ask them if they have kangaroos in their garden). They made an interesting comment about their country’s approach to the recession – that Austrians more-or-less expect bad things to happen and had accepted life would be grim for a while. (They also said people still celebrate Hitler’s birthday, which was more disconcerting than any recession stats.) In Lisbon the recession is clearly visible. The city is undoubtedly beautiful – set on the broad Tagus river estuary, full of lush green parks and impressive columnar statues glorifying kings and statesmen like the Marquis of Pombal who oversaw the reconstruction of the city after the devastating earthquake in 1755. The central city was ... read more
