Hi family, this is the quickest way to reach the widest group of my friends...so here it goes. Update: I am currently working part-time at the Science Museum and stressing out the rest of the time about the inability of my dissertation to write itself + the general lack of financial strategy. More importantly I am thinking of all my Tibetan friends and send my support and love their way. To the UK crew: If you can, watch the channel 4 Dispatches documentary on Tibet this Monday (31st) at 8pm. Could someone please record it as I will be joining the Tibet Society in front of the Chinese Embassy (Portland Street, Regent's Park end)at 6.30. If you can/feel it...come too for the night vigil. Otherwise i hope you can find time to join the demo ... read more

Hey everyone so england is much chillier than my previous destinations..how unfortunate for me....so i am therefore looking up flights to the warmest and cheapest mediteranean destiation possible....not sure what 'll happen but i'll keep you posted.. anyways...the last couple days have been pretty eventful..on my first full day here i went on a great walking tour of the city and saw buckinham palace, the changing of the guards (they kinda just parade around together....i've seen my fair share of men in uniform therefore it wasnt really worth ripping through the crowds for!)...and saw westminster abbey and big ben and all that fun stuff..later that day i went searching for an internet cafe...pretty much a mere impossibility....we had to take a bus to a train station to find it..and when we finally found it it was ... read more

**I have a video that I will be attempting to edit and uploading tomorrow.** How can one be within a 100 kilometers of London this time of year and NOT attend the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race? So I checked the weather, partially sunny, 13C, slight breeze. Then I doubled checked the weather and looked out the window. Sunny, wind gusting and big brewing black/grey clouds. I noticed that today's weather forecast was updated by the time I got home and began to get the feeling back in my fingers and toes. This, after I heeded the visual assesment, by wearing layers and all the appropriate accessories! It was a true festive event with people everywhere, beer flowing freely, makeshift food vendors, police every 10 meters, trash bags tied to barricades, a big screen blasting interviews ... read more

To all my Ladakhi/Tibetan friends and family: Happy Losar! May the teachings and your inner light guide you as always! I hope you are all well, inspite of the news of unusually tough winter in Ladakh. One day we will share it all. Love and best wishes. Last preparations - i.e. my first preps as I've not done any major preps and not sure whether I should panic or just go with the flow. Something acquired over the last 3 1/2 yrs here.. Meeting mates, saying farewells and generally winding down, what a great relief. Surreal but great! ... read more

so. my first night of work in this big city began in earnest last night, and oh how good it was to finally be back behind a bar. Fabric, perhaps one of the worlds most famous clubs (it is most certainly amongst the names synonymous with influential, ground-breaking and big-name-drawing clubs) proved to be the injection i was looking for, not only in terms of work, but in terms of a positive, motivating energy. a certain lifestyle comes with the role of being a bartender: One of the feeling of a constant party, music always thumping at your chest, hands always pumping at the air, late nights leading into early mornings, leading into sleepy days, and a team spirit that pulls everyone towards the same goal of seeing a seething, roaring, massive crowd ultimately happy. ... read more

Hi again, I'm now at the Hostel in Hammersmith. It's better than I expected, the rooms are nice and clean and they give us breakfast. The facilities here are also really good and theres a shop with cheaper food and all of that. The day before yesterday I went around London on the bus. It was one of those hop on, hop off tours. You get a little set of headphones and there is commentating telling you all about where you are. The bus was also double decker with no roof on the top so it was nice to sit up there. I went to Madame Tusades which is probaly the best thing I've done here so far, it was great. Half the time you can't tell what is real and what is wax so in ... read more

Hi all and welcome to my travel blog. I really hope this works. I am still getting used to it but hope it gets to you all and you can track my whereabouts in the world over the next 4 months. Only two more days left of work before Paul & I head off into the sunset. We leave on Sunday bound for Amsterdam. We have a fairly busy weekend ahead of us including leaving drinks at work on Friday, then its my birthday on Saturday (hoorah for me!). Combining my birthday and farewell into one on Saturday night with more drinks with friends and Mum & Dad who are over here at the moment. Sunday is our departure day via my good friend Staceys birthday drinks in Clapham. Happy Birthday Stace! Fly from Heathrow airport ... read more

Hi to everybody and apologies for taking so long to update our blog. Since the last time we haven't had much time to do anything other than work. We did have a few days to do some sightseeing though and were lucky to have fantastic weather! So we took advantage and went up the London Eye. It was great and feels like you're in an airoplane - you can see for miles!!!! We also went to Kensington Gardens and palace, Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and the houses of Parliament. Also explored Trafalgar Square and found ourselves in the National Gallery (which houses thousands of portraits) but didn't last in there very long. We ended off with a trip to Westminster Abbey but could only see the outside as we got there about 5 minutes ... read more
