London was good times. From the 14th of September to the 18th of September. I spent it staying at Rubina's. I managed to meet up with Alisi (who I used to work at Mirvac with) and walked around the city. Saw Robert Di Niro and 50 cent who we didn't realise at the time was him. Then saw a street performer. Had Chinese for dinner. I met up with Elissa - a good friend I had when I was studying at Hertfordshire. We had tea and cupcake at Starbucks. And went for romantic walks and for lunch along the Thames. I also walked along the Thames and got my foot stuck in mud during this London trip. I checked out El's humble abode - she was now living in the good old UK with her fiance ... read more

Hello to all back home, i am currently in London staying with my mate ria and her house mates, who are all pretty cool. After leaving Munich i headed to the south of France to the city of Toulouse to see a girl that i met on my travels, her name is Natacha. We spent most of the time just walking throughout the city and exploring some of the beautiful parks that were there, all in all had a really nice few days there. After that is when i cought a plane over to London and stayed in a hostel that used to be an old court room. Got up early the next day and went for a walk through the city and before i knew it i had found my way to the London eye. ... read more

Dad decided that he'd make the most of the sun and go running on Monday morning while Mum and I headed back to Madame Tussauds. We got there shortly after opening and were shocked that there was still a crowd out the door! Luckily the queue only lasted half an hour, but it was still incredibly packed inside. The wax models were exceptionally life-like as you'll see in the photos and we laughed and screamed our lungs out in the 'Chamber of Horrors' section! After lunch Mum had a final look around Hammersmith before we missioned it out east to the Excel Motor Show Music Festival. (I had Googled high and low to find a sports event or concert while they were here and came across the festival which had a different concert every night for ... read more

It was great having Mum and Dad in London for my birthday - even if it was my last one in the twenties! Mum painted me a lovely canvas of an Irish cottage (Joel and I spent a week there over Easter) and Joel gave me some hair straighteners and cooked us pancakes for breakfast. Pat, his Mum, also sent me Pineapple Lumps and a New Zealand t-shirt. (Thanks everyone for your pressies and cards xx) As it was another stunning day we chilled out in our local Ravenscourt Park in the arvo, then headed to Baker Street to go to Madame Tussauds. After queuing for nearly an hour we ended up giving it a miss as it was close to closing time. (Mum and I decided we'd head back early the next day to brave ... read more

Mum and Dad have been to the UK quite a few times, so I tried to show them as many new things as I could during their three remaining days in London. We managed to pack in a lot, getting home at midnight each day! Saturday we had a relaxed start after our busy time in Belgium, and were joined by a few mates for a cooked breakfast and the ABs-Wallabies game. (The result's not important.) Early afternoon we tubed to Camden Markets, which are a colourful slice of London life. The punks and piercings provided a good muse for Dad's photography. We then walked to the suburb of Chalk Farm and up Primrose Hill, for icecreams and 180-degree views of the city. As Joel and I wanted to check out 'Brick Lane', it was a ... read more

London: July 20-22. With Ryan and Nic now in Calgary, Todd and Rach in Aberdeen and Joel and I in London, Mum and Dad took the perfect opportunity to come and stay with us all in three unique parts of the world. We were all lucky enough to travel with them, and for me visiting the graves of my Great, Great Uncles who lost their lives in WWI in Belgium, was a special experience. They began their month-long trip in Canada, which timed perfectly with the 'Stampede' and as well as spending time in Calgary, they camped with Ryan and Nic in the Banff and Jasper National Parks. On their way to Scotland they had a five-hour stopover in London, so I met them for coffee at Heathrow. While basing themselves in Aberdeen they also visted ... read more

Well I've finally found half an hour with nothing better to do, so here's the next instalment of the holiday that was. 24/5/08 - Amsterdam to London - End of the Tour :( After a HUGE night out in Amsterdam, It was nothing less than pure cruelty that on our last morning of the tour, we were to be up, ready and bags to coach by 7am. Another frantic morning of last minute jamming of the clothes into the bag, a 5 minute breakfast and a quick clean of the chops and we were ready to head back to the UK. A few people chose to finish their tour in Amsterdam, so it was a sad morning as we said goodbye to Matt, Jon, Christelle, Yvonne, Carey, Jen and Tracy who huddled around in what seemed ... read more

Hi all! Today was amazing! Just as cool as yesterday, though, we also walked another 7ish miles today. My feet are killing me!! Clara is calling me a slave driver at this point, but you have to walk if you want to see anything... Well today we did a lot! We got up early, took the rails to the trainstation, took trains all the way to Windsor Castle! The Castle was amazing! It is the worlds largest lived-in castle. The Queen still holds residence there (though, again, she was out :(..) Anyway, it was really stunning. Check the pictures. Once again, we found that once you enter any church or the 'inside' of any 'Royal Palace' you are NOT allowed to take any photos or video. James may have snuck 1 or 2 of Windsor, but ... read more

May 14 -17; London When I imagine city life, London fits the ideal type. New York is more renowned for its intensity, but for me London is where it is at (in the Western world anyway). The city is just alive with people of all denominations, all going about their business in an individual manner which is invisibly coordinated by city structures and unconsciously shared values. All intellectual pursuit aside, the city is simply alive. You cannot but get caught up by the intensity and the individuality of it all; it is a peculiar element of the human condition that one often feels the most individual in the biggest crowds. That said, like New York we have found that Londoners have often been very willing to help out when we have needed it e.g. Carrying suitcases ... read more
