so. it seems time is really getting the better of me these days. or perhaps more so, i am just slipping into and being carried away by life in general. my prague diary still isnt complete (many of these such journals end in this way, though undisappointingly - at least i wrote something! and remembering is always a feat in itself) and there is also still more to post (which i may just do sporadically in the not too distant future) and much has gone on since i returned from there and back to my home in london. so. (did i just say that??) let me tell you... work has been one of the main reasons for my slackness with my writing. at this time of the year, there are many organisations and companies hiring ... read more

this is quite an involved journal that i kept whilst in prague, and continued with once i returned to london. it will be posted in installments due to brain failure. - when i first found out that id made the unbelievable mistake of managing to book the wrong flight - a different flight to Jimmy and Luke to Prague (Jimmy had even sent me the exact link of the flight he and Luke booked!) i was slightly dismayed at the situation id be in. - for some reason, i didnt want to fly solo? forgetting the fact that my departure time would mean waking up at 3 in the morning, my aforementioned dismay rapidly subsided once i realised i would be stuck, alone, unhindered, wandering and immersed in a city that is often said to ... read more

so. my first night of work in this big city began in earnest last night, and oh how good it was to finally be back behind a bar. Fabric, perhaps one of the worlds most famous clubs (it is most certainly amongst the names synonymous with influential, ground-breaking and big-name-drawing clubs) proved to be the injection i was looking for, not only in terms of work, but in terms of a positive, motivating energy. a certain lifestyle comes with the role of being a bartender: One of the feeling of a constant party, music always thumping at your chest, hands always pumping at the air, late nights leading into early mornings, leading into sleepy days, and a team spirit that pulls everyone towards the same goal of seeing a seething, roaring, massive crowd ultimately happy. ... read more

London: here i sit on the tube, and what some may allege to be the source of london's life. its hustle and bustle here - perpetually - mimicking in the extreme, the goings on above this cavernous, almost unending hole. While Spain was akin to a slow and relaxing cruise, london (so far) can only offer overwhelming stimulation and unavoidable eye-opening sights and experiences. for all of this though, you wouldnt dare glance too long at someone passing by. - while everyone stares at you, staring back seems to issue some sort of warrant for aggression, hostility and attitude. especially where im currently staying in london's east end. attitude is what its all about here: the streets are filled with art, stenciling, graffiti and propoganda. advertising is big, bold and infinite - as are fried ... read more

Landing in Dubai was nothing short of a surreal experience. I’m really not sure that the whole scope of this journey has really set in, or that it ever will. To me, I’m merely carrying on my life, now immersed and surrounded by a vastly different world and its plentiful and frequent new experiences. Dubai’s airport is a massive expanse, and though I’d imagine it to be usually bustling with people, Ramadan this month means that it is more than half empty. Less than a quarter full, even. It’s about a 7 minute walk from tarmac to passport control, and the attendants behind the desks have no facial expression and don’t even bother speaking to you, except to ask your country of origin and the reason for you entering their country. It’s a further 5 minute ... read more
