We needed to take a train from Copenhagen-via Malmo, overnight to Stockholm. We had grand ideas of our couchette being rather luxurious (it had cost us £80 for the 5 hours trip)....sadly it was a 6 sleeper cabin with zero extras and in fact was exactly like to roudy ski train we took 2 years ago (minus the hectic night of boozing!) Malmo we thought was still in Denmark and only when we bought a juice and offered our Danish kroners, were we kindly updated by the chap that we were in fact in Sweden now and were paying with the wrong money! We can be excused by the fact that the train from Copenhagen to Malmo had taken a whopping 30min! We arrived bright and breezy in Stockholm at 6am and unfortunately could not check ... read more

Hello everyone, I'm currently in Linköping, Sweden. I came here to visit my old friend from Sudbury - Fredrik. I am leaving tomorrow for Copenhagen, Denmark. I only stayed here for a week, which is a fair amount of time, and I have to let Fred do his school work - we don't want him to fail do we! I arrived in Stockholm, Sweden on September 4th. Unfortunately, after a decent plane ride, my ears didn't pop, I really don't like that, it annoys the hell out of me. I took the Arlanda Express to Stockholm, it takes about 20min from the airport. Then I had to find this damn hostel, which is on a boat. After walking around (with all of my shit) for an hour, I finally spotted it - thank god it's red. ... read more

This wonderful trip can only be described with thousands of amazing words! Scandinavia was one of the most amazing areas i have ever experienced. (This journal is long and i appreciate all who wants to read it...but no fear as its good for me to keep an account.) It began with a £20 flight from london to copenhagen, in denmark on the 4th of july. A one-way, no return, and no date of return, the way i love it! So scandinavia commenced amoungst the other 100,000 others at the mud-infested farmland, of the rock-music festival called, Roskilde. My fellow companions were Melissa and Helen at this crazy event. Crazy girls, for such a great time! It was here, that I was awakened to another european experience, to see a mass of mud and mud pools from ... read more

First Week Survival Its Sunday. We are going to be moving into our new apartment in Lund in about an hour and a half. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lund) Until then, I’m chilling on Karin’s lovely leather couch which is super comfortable and writing this entry of the crazyiness of the past few days. From about Wednesday to Friday, it was all school, all the time. Wednesday we did our presentations on our first design projects, and then were immediately assigned our next design assignment, which was to job shadow the facilities manager of Malmo Hogs kola (my school) and see what he does every day. Of course, this is completely bias since we’re following him around with a video camera and he’s probably doing way more than he would usually do so that we have some content, but nonetheless, ... read more

Da denkt man sich ja nun erstma nix schlimmes ... read more

Well school started last week, however I only had class on Tuesday evening and Thursday afternoon. One of the classes is called "The Contemporary United State". The teacher is British, it is really interesting to hear every one's views on the US and their opinions of President Bush, he's not too popular! The other class I had was intro to Swedish, and the teacher spoke in Swedish the whole time, it will definitely be a challenge. I know I have let everyone know, but I really love this town and school. There are not too many people, so when we go out at night we recognize a lot of the people. There are a lot of activities also at the school, I am not sure if it is just because it is the beginning of the ... read more

Life in a van, life in a camperrrrrvan, la le la…..sounds like a song! (Or we have been on the bottle again). Well it has now been 6 weeks living in the van and we have become real campervan people…now to be known as (alias) Fred and Dora Brown. Not sure if that is a good thing or not. Anyway be that as it may we are having an absolute ball with the freedom that this lifestyle presents. We started out planning at least 3 days ahead, this became 1 day and now well we decide when we wake up if we should move on or not! Although please do not get us wrong we have a rough idea of where we are heading, of sorts. Vikings, Volvos, blondes, Abba and Ikea, yes this is Sweden ... read more

Hej! :-) Ich werde dann ... read more

Today, was pretty lazy and didn't walk out till like 11! haa...headed to the tourist info centre to get some information about day trips....all the basic sightseeing places were all CLOSED FOR THE SEASON....WTH....._ So, I am left with these outlying Islands around Gothenburg. Got a day travel pass and headed up towards the Northern Archipelago, an Island called Ockero.. It was a LONG tram and bus ride....got there. and really...nothing much. a small town there...loads of kids riding their bikes around....a nice fishing port... I guess they have some nice paths you can walk into the Island but I didn't really bother walking there...Had my regular ice-cream walk around....then waited for the bus. Took the bus back to the city and then another tram towards the opposite direction to the Southern Archipelago. It was pretty ... read more
