Ideas, local knowledge, inspiration for the Easter weekend in Stockholm.
Looking at "skyscanner" and some cheap flights on offer to Stockhom. Any ideas of what to do for a long weekend in and around the city would be greatly appreciated.
Reply to this Lots of things to do. Many museums - the Wasa musem is the best I think, and the open air museum Skansen is very nice to spend half a day to check out all the old houses and there is also a zoo and a very worthwhile terrarium/aquarium there. There are too many museums to describe and it all depends on what you like -modern art, history or whatever - check on the web which will suit your tastes. If the weather is good you can stroll in the Djurgarden park, take the boat to the Drottningholm palace, or take a boat to the nearby islands in the archipelago. Good combinations of art/park are Waldermarsudde in Djurgarden and Millesgarden in Lidingo. Stroll in the city: Gamla Stan, the medieval city with the Royal Castle. Soder is very modern and full of cafes and quaint shops and the view from Mosebacke is fantastic. Strandvagen is the expensive street along the waters leading to Djurgarden and Stureplan for the trendy crowd. You may not have enough time in a weekend but there are some great places to visit outside the city, the small towns of Mariefred and Sigtuna are very picturesque, Uppsala with one of the oldest universities in Northern Europe is only an hour (or less) away by train. You will enjoy it - but be prepared as the weather can be cold at this time of the year.
