Spending Christmas and New Years in Stockholm. Does anyone have recommendations for a place to have Christmas Dinner? Would prefer more traditional than super fancy! Thanks!
Reply to this Chiristmas is totally family oriented in Nordic countries. Everybody is visiting their parents and grand parents...
The dinner will be quiet, I can promise you that.
Once when I was living in Stockholm and didn´t want to prepare Christmas, I tried to go out to eat. All the restaurants were closed. The big hotels are the only chance, I believe.
But, there might be a fantastic place for you, only 20 minutes from the city centre: Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden. It is a beautiful hotel and a beautiful place. If that is open in Christmas too, that is a place to go!
Reply to this I agree with Roy, it will probably be very difficult to find something in Stockholm for Christmas day. It is probably even more difficult on Christmas Eve, the biggest holiday in Sweden. But the days before Christmas there are many "Julbord" served at different price levels. Maybe your best bet is to find an excursion package over Christmas unless someone invites you to spend the holidays with them, because one can feel very lonely these days in Sweden.
