Off to Ireland for a wee pint of Guinness (or two....or more), its true it tastes better here. St Patricks Day and weekend was awesome it was packed and the parade was unreal. The first week we spent in Dublin trying to get our stupid body clocks working. Our days mainly consisted of sleeping from 7am till 10am getting up then back for a nap at 4pm then up at 9pm and stayin awake frustrated till 3am then back up again at 7am. Jane, bennys girlfriend, arrived the start of the second week so we hired a car and drove around the south part of the island.... read more

...the Guiness really is better here! So i arrived around 9am Dublin time on March 1st. The flight went well...i slept most of the way. I spent most of my first day just wandering around City Centre, Dublin making an attempt to acclimate myself. HA. good luck! Luckily though, the people here are SO welcoming and always willing to share a story...even when all you wanted was directions to the pub. I'm making a joke out of it, but really it's such an amazing thing to meet a person for 5 minutes and before you know it you're laughing harder than you ever thought possible over a "lovely pint" of guiness at Whelan Pub listening to live bluegrass with Kiefer Sutherland! ahahahha! (but that's another story all together!) After a day of wandering around O'Connell Steet ... read more

We rode into Dublin on the same bus line that took us out. And I was actually able to sleep this time! Once in Dublin we made our way to Connelly St. and walked down the main drag of the city. Then we made our way to the Guiness Storehouse by the most round about path possible. On the bright side we did get to see all of the property from the ground level. Once we got to the storehouse it was time to learn about barley, hops, yeast and water. The fifth ingredient is the most important of course and this is the experience of the master brewer. When I first heard about the guiness tour I thought it might be a guided tour, but is is actually all automated, but still good. Once again ... read more

Our first trip around Ireland was like travelling back in time. The roads - so narrow. The radio stations - so old. The lack of music on a Sunday morning as church is broadcast across the airways. We felt like hippies travelling through the 60s. Thoroughly enjoyed the countryside - except for the bloody hedges. You couldn't see anything over the top of them and every country road had them everywhere! Watched Ireland play rugby in the pub and stayed in Wexford which unfortunately was pretty dead. I think the photos describe what we did best - so have a look at them! Enjoy! Zoe & Dave... read more

So, here we are about to set off on our South American adventure. 3 months of trekking around some of the most beautiful countries in the world with such diverse landscapes. The question is whose going to carry my bags...?? For those of you who would like to keep up with our journey, here is an overview of where we are going and when we intend to be there: April 4th - Argentina Flying into Buenos Aires, Argentina - 2 days there and then flying down to El Calafate. Day trip from here to the Los Glacieres National Park and the Puerito Moreno glacier. Then off to the Torres del paine National Park for some hiking, probably for around 4-5 days and across a glacier too. Mid... read more

Well, we've finally found some time to get this blog done. Feeling the pressure from the Cooper clan to get another entry on here so here it is... We have settled. We are out of Belinda and John's hair - gees we were lucky to have them over here as a base. Would have been pretty crappy without them and Lindy Foat as well. Cheers to them! We're living in Smithfield, only 5 minute tram trip into the city centre. We were sooooooooo lucky to get this place, but we did persist with viewing places to get it...glad it paid off. We both have jobs now - Zoe is working as a legal secretary in LK Shields, a corporate Solicitors in the city. Getting €17 an hour (above average wage - yay!) so I actually take ... read more

I may be in a different country, but the birthday cakes continue. Or in James’ case, as he is not a big fan of cake, birthday “creation”. So rocky road Mt Everest it was! Since my last blog, we have been to Dublin! Not what I was expecting, but it was very good. The first thing to surprise me about the place was the size. Dublin is not very big and it is easy to walk anywhere there. Once equipped with a free tourist map, you can just work your away around to everything. James and I arrived on Friday afternoon, and it was so windy I thought I would get swept away! We caught the bus into the city centre, and made our way to our first hostel. The reason why I say first hostel, ... read more

I had a marvelous day off yesterday. It started with tea in the morning at church which i attend every wednesday. Always good craic! Joe came to that, so then we went and bought tickets to cirque du soleil (Me, Laura Patri and Rosa are going in april!!), and walked around in lovely weather and joe handed out a few CVs. Then we went to the oldest pub in ireland, the brazenhead, and had beef and guinness stew (delicious!!). Later that day we watched the last king of scotland... very good movie!! And then it came to be the moment i´d been waiting for : tegan and sara concert. Oy. I must say, i´ve been embarassingly detatched from the canadian music scene since being here, and did not realise they were coming to town until last ... read more

Just thought I would pop in and do one of these blog things. Well London life has been going as well as could be expected, busy with work etc. But every now and then it's good to get away for a few days. As it was my birthday last week (thanks for messages, cards etc.) I decided a weekend in Dublin might be a bit of fun and a welcome break from London Town. I also happened to choose a busy weekend to go as the 6 nation rugby Ireland V Scotland was on, plenty of kilted scotsmen! Emily and I arrived Friday evening about 5 hours before Shaun and Krystel were due to land. After finding the hostel (not to be recommended) we headed out for a quick look at Dublin, which is a beautiful ... read more

Last weekend I stayed in Dublin for once. All three of my roommates were traveling, so for most of the weekend I actually had the flat to myself - absolutely no complaints there. Friday was somewhat of a lazy day, but in the evening we went to the cinema to see "Be Kind Rewind" and after that, a bunch of us got together here to cook a big fancy dinner & dessert. Then after a small food coma we went to a couple of different pubs trying to find some traditional music, and ran into some friends on the way. Our quest took us to the north side of the Liffey River which is 50% more shady than the rest of the city so ... I don't think I'll be venturing over there at night any ... read more
