Denmark Travel Blogs

Denmark is made up of a number of islands in the Baltic Sea, and Jutland, a peninsular north of Germany. Predominantly flat, the highest natural point is only 171 metres above sea level. With a vast coastline, Denmark offers beaches, as well as inland forest areas and vast lakes.

Denmark holds a rich history, from the Vikings to one of the oldest monarchies dating back around 1000 years. In addition to it's traditional towns and cities, Denmark also holds Gothic churches, royal palaces and large manor houses, along with stunning examples of modern architecture. Denmark holds fame for the fairy tales of Hans Christian Anderson and every child's favourite toy, Lego.

A quick recap of October 2: The Olympic committee met in Copenhagen on Friday to decide which candidate city would be the host in 2016. The candidates were Tokyo, Chicago, Rio de Janeiro, and Madrid. This is why Obamas and Oprah were in town. The Danes really like Pres. Obama. First I was busy, then I was unproductive, but now I'm back. But still fairly unproductive. Saturday, September 26, 2009: The climate is a hot issue in Denmark. It's been a while since I've written a travel blog, about 4 years ago when I travelled around Australia and New Zealand. Here I am in 2009 in Copenhagen, for a 6 month secondment. Im going to be based in the centre but going to try and get around Denmark and Sweden as much I can at weekends. Samsø, a place to be studied in the modern world of renewable energy. The island has a negative carbon footprint which means they produce a surplus of clean energy which they sell back to the Danish mainland at a profit. Sorry dat ik een dag te laat ben maar ik had het gisteren iets te zwaar met ontspannen en een concert in de avond. Ik zal bij het begin beginnen, vorige week zondag zijn de nieuwe studenten aangekomen en maandag hebben we daarom een tweede introductiedag gehad. Hierbij konden wij de studenten leren kennen en hen Silkeborg laten zien. We kregen via sms verschillende opdrachten die we met onze working groups moesten fotograferen. I don't mean to disappoint, but this week has been kind of slow. I know, I know, studying abroad is supposed to be glamorous and full of crazy adventures and mis-communications. The Little Mermaid

Back in Copenhagen this morning; our first Baltic Sea cruise completed. So many memories! St. Petersburg is absolutely amazing and many times it’s hard to express in words what we saw. Hello from the marshlands of the Dani Denmark, I am currently in Copenhagen. I arrived yesterday and will be here for another 2 days the 15 hours train ride from Amsterdam was great.
