Denmark is made up of a number of islands in the Baltic Sea, and Jutland, a peninsular north of Germany. Predominantly flat, the highest natural point is only 171 metres above sea level. With a vast coastline, Denmark offers beaches, as well as inland forest areas and vast lakes.

Denmark holds a rich history, from the Vikings to one of the oldest monarchies dating back around 1000 years. In addition to it's traditional towns and cities, Denmark also holds Gothic churches, royal palaces and large manor houses, along with stunning examples of modern architecture. Denmark holds fame for the fairy tales of Hans Christian Anderson and every child's favourite toy, Lego.

Yesterday I went for a bit of an explore from Christianshavn Metro station to the Opera House (Operaen). Found this really weird abandon piece of land not too far from the station. Saw some woman come out of the gates and thought that it might be a cut through. It had a piano that had been painted, complete with keys and lid. Lots of things that had been abandoned. Think it might have had some minature railway set up as soon the markings of tracks and some controls. Got some cool pictures, even better that I now have my DSLR with [View Full Entry]

2 months I’ve officially been here for 8 weeks. And it’s still as crazy as it has been. Danish is getting better, but I still can’t understand a normal conversation. Nothing too exciting has happened since the last time you heard from me. I hurt my shoulder due to public transportation and a hockey bag, which isn’t even a cool reason; I have to call the doctors today to see what the results of my x-rays are, so I guess we will see. Which brings me to the point, of I’m not playing hockey anymore this year because my schedule is [View Full Entry]

My plan for this evening was to start on one of the many papers I have due in the next couple weeks. What have I done with my time instead? Watched Whale Wars on Animal Planet, of course. And an interview on BBC's Hard Talk with the Hungarian Foreign Minister. So it was still a totally educational, academic evening. Today my Women, Art, and Identity class took a field trip to two museums. The first one had an exhibit of Edvard Munch (of The Scream) which was ok, but not mind-blowing. Mind-blowing is, however, the adjective I will use to describe [View Full Entry]

The World Is Yours

The past few weeks have been very fun, and I am happy to say that I have done things that I would of probably not had the chance to do back home. About 9 weeks ago I had my language camp with all of the other exchange students it was a lot of fun. We took few day trips one of them was to Arhus and it was so much fun. we started out at a museum and were able to look around for 3 hrs, then we go out and walk around the city and I think this was the [View Full Entry]

Time for an update! It has been just one month since I've updated, yet it seems like it's been forever. Thus far I have just been living my life, ya know? I go to school, I hang out with my friends, and I try to live as much like a "normal dane" as I can. I've realized that in school every wednesday in my class is kagedag. aka: Cake Day! Every week somebody brings in cake. It's wonderful. Back in september, there was a man from Alabama/Canada here. 25 years ago when he lived in Alabama he was an exchange student [View Full Entry]

Had my first full week at work and really enjoying it. Lunch is taken about 11.30am, some people in my department have gone down at 11.15am. As you can imagine by 4pm I’m starving! There’s a system for going around the canteen, which I didn’t really get. But luckily I found the colour coded map to assist me in future lunchings. Im using the the menu to try and add some more words to my very limited vocabulary. Loving the fact that I have a desk that I can raise to standing level, always gives a nice change to seating down, [View Full Entry]
