We are off to a little town called Ebeltoft today. This was on the recommendation of our masseur, Bruce who has spent quite a bit of time in Scandinavia. The weather started off fine but extremely windy. Rain started as we got closer then the blue skies appeared again. Just like home…. Found our village but missed the first turn. No drama, next turn then into tiny little cobbled streets. Next thing I am going down a street with no cars anywhere. Chris asks if a circle with a red line through it means no entry. Ooops. Bloody tourists. Never mind. No one was injured in the enactment of this driving experience. Got out of there quick smart and back to a large car park where there was the museum of glass. They had an exhibition ... read more

Awake early as the ship docks at 0730. Didn’t bother with breakfast. Way too early. Woke to rain and lots of bumpy waves. Took forever to dock as the winds were blowing that hard that the Captain had to work really hard to get alongside. Watching the guys on the dock waiting to catch the mooring ropes you could see their eyes each time they got close only to be blown away again. Finally secured and waiting for the gangway to be connected before we head off. Out into the dirty weather and into a cab. Driver didn’t have a clue where to go until I showed him the address. Google maps to the rescue. Got to the car rental place. Had our reservation but then there was a problem. Something about vouchers. Asked if we ... read more

They don't get much better than today. Not quite up with the larks (and welcoming our old friends the mozzie bites 😬) we had a hurried brekkie and drove the twenty minutes to Lego land. Actually, proper danish Legoland. We had been before, nine years ago, almost to the day, Seth hadn't. I don't think it's possible to be any more excited then he was this morning. From greeting a wizard before we'd really even got in, his eyes were saucers taking in everything. Fortunately they didn't seem to take in the fact it was 'ridiculously and wholly inappropriate slogan on t shirt day' My top two were ' screw you hotdog, and ' Monday you bastard' 🤷🏻‍♀️ We started with a frog ride, headed for a mine train, got soaked in a short but heavy ... read more

Since having a small person, we now do longer drives with more nights in one place. Usually that's fine. Occasionally we get bitten by extra long drivings. Today was that day. After, honestly, the best nights sleep I've had in 8 years, we left as planned at 10.15. by 10.25 we were heading back to the hotel to fetch the blanket we'd left behind. 10.40 we were back on route but the sat nav had added a lot of time to our journey in the window from turning around to setting off again. Within fifteen minutes the traffic had stopped, an accident had shut the motorway and the bottleneck added a good two hours to our journey. But in the manner of a Zen master, we just had to accept it and get on with it. ... read more

Today is our second day in Copenhagen, and it was expected to be demanding. Unfortunately, the weather for late in the afternoon is not looking good and our evening excursion may be canceled. After a great night’s sleep, my body clock seems to be back on schedule and after a great breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pineapple chunks, orange juice, and coffee, we were ready to hit the road at 8:00AM. Jody also slept well, and other than a little extra chattiness, is also getting back to normal. The plan this morning is to meet up with our local tour expert and do a combined walking and bus tour of Copenhagen. Benedikta is a native of Copenhagen and seemed to know everything that was possible to know about her hometown. After driving through some of ... read more

It’s hard to believe that another year has passed. I reached the milestone of 70 years old, and somehow Jody just keeps looking younger every year. After last year’s post-Covid hectic pace of 2 Caribbean cruises, a week in Sanibel Island, a trip to Spain and Portugal, and a River Cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest, we decided to slow things down a little. Though we did take a Caribbean cruise in March, and plan to take another in September, our only major trip this year is this current trip, using Insight Vacations for the third time, to Spectacular Scandinavia and Its Fjords. The trip begins in Copenhagen, Denmark, passes through Stockholm, Sweden and ends up in the Fjords of Norway ending 15 days later in Oslo, Norway. The weather here is cooler than last year’s trip ... read more

How quickly things can change ? One minute we have a holiday planned that will take us across to Poland and then next minute because of Glenns knee we are thinking of heading home. It will take us five days of solid driving to get from where we are now to the Channel Tunnel and then another gruelling six hour drive around London and home . A sobering thought . We could drive back across the Great Belt Bridge and head down to Germany. This was just be the reverse of the trip up. Or we could continue downwards to Rodby . We have a plan . Before that though we stayed the night at a pleasant campsite and fell into conversation with a couple who were spending another five weeks in this part of the ... read more
