Hey guys, a friend and myself are travelling to Copenhagen for about 3 days. We have planned to go visit Frederiksborg Castle and Kronborg. I was just wondering if anyone else had any other nice places that we can swing by as well.
Cheers
Reply to this I'm living in Copenhagen, and there is some must-see places over here.
1. Christiania! - Christiania is big area in the part of Copenhagen called "Christians havn". It's an old military area that was squatted by hippies in the 70's. Today around 1000 people is living in the little city in the middle of Copenhagen. Christiania is consisting of allot of houses spread out over an quite big area, with a center laying around the famouse "pusher-street". The street was named after the large number of shops selling marihuana that was found on the street, up until 2004 where the police cleared the street for the pusher shops.
Today Christiana is known to be a famouse alternative center, for all of scandinavia, and is a place with lots of bars, restaurants, nature, grafiti and just a relaxing place to be.
2. Tivoli - Tivoli is an very old amusement park in the centre of Copenhagen, placed just next to the main trainstation of Copenhagen. Even though it's an old amusement park it's filled with new an modern rides, but there is also alot of rides build on histories of the very famouse Danish writer H.C Andersen. Over-all an great place to visit first, and the later go to one of the meny clubs and bars placedes just around Tiovli.
3. Amalienborg - Amalienborg is the Danish Royal familys residence in Copenhagen and definetly worth a visit.
4. Statens museum for kunst - The states museum of art is centred in the middel og Copenhagen, just near Rosenborg castle and The Kings Garden (Also a very good place to relax in the sunshine on a warm day). The Museum features art, paintings and sculptures from famouse European and Danish artists from the 1500's and uptil today.
Hope that helped you :D
If you got any questions about Copenhagen, just ask. If you want to know some thing mose specifik about places to see art, of places to party, relax anything. Just ask :D
Reply to this i agree with all of the above. also get a bike. you can use the city bikes which are free or you can rent a more comfortable bike. cycle away to your hearts content and see all the attractions. there is a church with a spiral spire you can climb up for excellent views of the city. also visit the carlsberg museum and factory 😊 we also went to a wax wok museum which was like a rip off of madame tussauds in london but was quite fun. i think it was mabye closing down but if it is still open i would check it out. we stayed in the dan hostel a multi storey hostel which was in an excellent location although it is more like a hotel than a hostel and seems very commercial. i would see if there is something with more character maybe in Christiania. enjoy your trip i loved it!
Reply to this Hey guys, thanks a lot for your suggestions. I think I'm definately going to have to extend the stay here for a few more days at least. Cheers
Reply to this I don't think the was museum is open any more, but I must agree with scroosko, get a bike, and then just see the city:D I think I can remeber that Copenhagen was announced the worlds first bike-city or some thing. SO get one of the cheap, or free bikes that are all over the city during the summer, and just bike around. Good Luck with your trip
