Saturday, July 1st, 2023 Dubrovnik to Pag Today Drea and I made the journey from Dubrovnik to Pag. Pag is an island in the northern Adriatic Sea. There are two towns on the island, Pag and Novalja. We will be staying in the town of Novalja. Pag is known for its moon-like landscape, and cheese and as the party capital of the Adriatic. However, Drea and I were not going to Pag for any of those reasons. We were going to Pag as we had dinner reservations at Boškinac Restaurant and Winery, where we’ll be trying their Michelin Star tasting menu. This restaurant was a Bourdainškinac Restaurant and Winery at their Grill which was delicious as well. Tomorrow, we head back to Zagreb to spend a couple of days before I head back to Canada.... read more

Dobra Dan to you this fine morning - Good morning from Otok Pag . Pag island in Croatian. It is another day and a fine one at that . The weather has gradually crept up over the last few day and the sun now beats down upon us. We feel like we have finally arrived . This year though we have managed on the way down to take in some sights. Hopefully this will continue as we move ever so slowly southwards towards Bosnia . We extricated ourselves from our stopover . Whilst Glenn unhitched Gabby I set off to pay. It's a long way back following the red line passing the mini market , the bicycle hire shops and the hairdressers along the way. If I turned right instead of left and carried on for ... read more

Gabby is parked on a camping site where we should not even be. It is our worse nightmare . Hundreds of pitches, entertainments for the children, what looks like plastic food and noise. The sort of campsite we look at and move on before we even park up. Or one where we have to bite the bullet and stay but stay only one night. The journey to the border with Croatia was relatively uneventful. The road was winding and slow. We followed slow moving traffic. One lorry that we could not pass and we were slowed down by village after village with a 50kph speed limit. It was a frustrating drive if the truth be told. Eventually we did arrive at border control and handed our passports over. A Slovenian border guard gave them a cursory ... read more

The new crew came aboard on Saturday and, after provisioning, we set sail on Sunday, heading south to Zut and the southern Kornati Island of Smokvica Vela, to eat at a restaurant from the Gourmet Sailing Guide. From there we headed north to sail through the desolate archipelago and spend the night on a mooring buoy at Mir in the national park. North of the Kornati islands is the Zadar archipelago which is more lush with many trees. We spent the night at a new marina in Veli Rat (which means large cape) then sailed a brisk beam reach to Pag, home of Paski Sir, tasty goat's cheese, and the famous Pag lace. From Pag we travelled north to the ACI marina in Rab where we now sit in a warm, dry pizza parlour waiting for ... read more

Hello from the overcast and windy Croatian island of Pag! Unfortunately Croatia hasn't turned on the special treatment for us today but the steamy weather is still enough to see me walking around in bathers and a kaftan. The streets are quite busy here, with quad bikes and scooters, mopeds and rollerbladers - its a town that doesn't seem to sleep! ...and in parts in quite literally doesn't! We arrived here last night at about 8pm and at 11 a group went to a '24-hour beach' which includes built in bars and dancefloors, 6 inch deep in water which everyone goes crazy splashing around in! Our group of friends prefered a AUD$9 bottle of Champagne and a patio-chat - as we're all connected by one massive verandah (5 rooms or so). Tonight though we are going ... read more

We were thinking of doing a boat trip around the islands of Zadar as there are some great day trips that stop on the islands and allow you to swim. Unfotunately the weather was a bit dodgy as a cold front, similar to baby fish-mouth, is sweeping up the country. We bugged out and headed to Pag, Pag, Croatia. Pag was described as void of vegetation and a bit of a moonscape, (which is the only bit I heard) Off we went and checked out Pag town when we arrived which is suppossed to be the lace-making capital of Croatia although they sell the lace from their homes and you kind of have to barge in to people's lounges to buy something.. so we didnt. ... read more

Well. Hello. Sorry its been such a long time coming. I did actually catch this blog up in Barcelona about 8 days ago, but the computer crashed and deleted all my work. Very annoying. So, Im currently in Croatia, with a key board where the keys for Z and Y are back to front, so I apologise if I get it wrong. But, back to where I left off last. We left Naxos and headed back to Athens on the ferry, and checked back into our hostel. We had nothing to do, and everything was closing, so we went to the cinema! We saw United 93, about the plane that crashed on 9/11, and in the middle of the film, the screen came up with INTERMISSION and the film stopped and the people walked out for ... read more

Bok! Things in our rental car are progressing northward. It's been quite fun and we have only a few more days of action. Again, no pictures but I promise I will backfill all of them when I get time after Plitvice, so the wait will be worth it because it will be complete with photos and small videos! Travel Update: After Korcula, we ferried back to Orebic and made it up the coast slowly towards Omis, where we slept (just outside of Split). We explored Krka National Park for the afternoon and then motored up to the island of Pag, staying in Pag town on Saturday night. We are going to stay here again on Sunday night and then head really early to Plitvice National park to explore Monday. Our car rental ends after that and ... read more
