At Johnny Rockets
Laura, Bonnie, Julia and Alice. Another day at Sea
Lots of things to see and do
But I feel lazy.
Before going to bed last night I had all of these great ideas of what to see and do on our day at sea today. But then I just felt plain lazy and didn’t really do much of anything! Lol
Today, instead of lunch at the Windjammer we headed up one more deck and went to Johnny Rockets. Mmm, delicious greasy foods! I had a vanilla shake with fries, onion rings and a burger. Christie’s friend and co-worker Julia was working in Johnny Rockets so she made sure the fries and onion rings kept on flowing!
Other notable moments today include dinner with the Captain! Yes, you read that correctly. We were invited to have dinner with the Captain on our second formal night. I was going to wear my sari to dinner but it was in desperate need of an iron and I was still feeling lazy so I wore my black dress to dinner with my new shoes.
It seems a little intimidating when you find out that you have been invited to have dinner with the Captain. So we
were asked to meet at one of the bars about 15 minutes before our six ‘o clock dinner to get a little run down on the etiquette that we should be following. Nothing too exciting. We were also having dinner with Christies’ coworker Johnny who is in charge of training and her coworker Lisa and her family that are onboard the ship. So in total there were eleven of us at the table.
It was funny, as we were walking into the dining room I overheard one of the woman from a table that surrounds the Captain’s table say, “They get to eat with the Captain.” Hmm, I wonder if she was thinking…”Wow, they get to have dinner with the Captain.” Or “How the hell did they get invited to sit by the Captain.” Lol To be honest, the Captain didn’t seem all that interested and genuine when he was talking with us. Perhaps it is because he has to have dinner with strangers every night. Or we were just a boring bunch. Haha Johnny was quite interesting. He’s good at making small talk for a long time. Lol Laura was to my left, Alice to my right and
then Christie was sitting beside Alice. Alice was sitting directly opposite the Captain. To Laura’s left was Johnny and then a couple from Miami. He is of Cuban descent and the girl of Puerto Rican decent. Our half of the table chatted a bit during dinner. Johnny is from Panama so we heard all about Panama. I’d like to visit that part of the World one of these days. It sounds amazing. At one point we got onto the topic of the Love Boat and we were comparing the similarities and differences with the ship we were on. Then the topic of Charo came up. It was so funny. Anyhoo, we all took a picture at dinner before we started eating and we were all given a copy of that photo. I couldn’t resist and had to make a comment about “photoshopping” Charo into my photo. We were also given a souvenir shot glass. I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t take the shot. I was worried that I’d end up spitting it out and my “projectile” would end up all over the Captain. Lol
Dinner itself was delish. I chose the smoked salmon to start. That was followed by
the Cream of Asparagus soup and a house salad. Then for my entrée I had the lobster tail with a hunk of beef, veggies and some mashed potatoes. Dessert was the “Captain’s” choice or something like that. It was a small plate with several different little cakes. All yummy!
Once again, tonight there was going to be a Midnight buffet but this time held in the dining room. The festivities were set to start at 11:30 where the first hour is for viewing and then from 12:30 onwards everyone could gorge on the foodies on display. We didn’t really want to hang around for an hour to eat the food that was on display so we just grabbed a bit to eat from the promenade…pizza, sandwiches and dessert of course! Plus the food on display was probably sitting there for quite a while…not too appetizing in my opinion!
Oh yes, between dinner and the midnight buffet we spent some time in the Casino to take advantage of our 3 x $2 free gambling credit. You see, Christie gave us Diamond Club status (which is usually reserved for 10 year cruisers) which gave us access to the Concierge Club (great for good coffee and snacks) and a coupon book full of deals.
We topped off the night by watching a movie in our room. Geesh, I don’t think I’ve been to bed before 2AM very many nights this week!
