Attempted to go to Denny's for our free brekkie..... It took them half an hour to take our order.. and we had to be at the bus another 10 mins after that so when our food didn't come we just gave up and went without... So angry and shattered too.. Ran to the bus, we were on our way to Graceland! Elvis's mansion was amazing and very pretty. You're not allowed to go upstairs because even when alive he didn't wish to bring visitors upstairs.. So they've respected his wishes and noone goes up there. Also around the side of the house, is the graves of Elvis and his family. Quite surreal. Also went and had a look at the Heartbreak Hotel.. nothing too exciting though.. Went to the site of Martin Luther King Jr's assassination, ... read more

As usual, had to be on the bus by 7.45am, though we ened up being delayed 15 minutes by someone anyway... Slept on the bus most of the way... Only stopped a couple of times and most weren't that interesting anyway.. We did stop in Little Rock, where Clinton was governer for years and years and years before becoming President. We also stopped in Texarkana, which is situation on the stateline between Texas and Arkansas. Originally, someone thought it was also on the border of Louisiana, and so that's how it got it'sname. Got into Memphis, quickly got ready, then headed just down the road to a minor league baseball game. We had hotdogs and what not for dinner, then went to our seats to watch it... It was kinda boring really... Although we did almost ... read more

Woken up by Michelle who was going on an optional day trip to Fortworth. I decided to give it a miss and sleep in. I was woken up by housekeeping and figured it was about 10-10.30? Checked about 10 clocks because I couldn't believe the real time - 1.30pm. Think my body's trying to tell me I need more sleep =P Missed everyone going to the 6th Floor Museum, so I walked down there by myself. It's all about JFK's assassination, and is on the 6th floor of the old book depository building where Lee Harvey Oswald was when he shot JKF. It was really eiry, especially when you were standing where he was, looking out the window down where JFK and Jackie were in the car... Anyway it was really interesting but really sad and ... read more

We accidentally slept in this day, I woke up about 5 mins before brekkie was to start... so i skipped in then got on the bus.. We had two stops, once in Childress or something similar. Didn't do much there but it was interesting because a tornado had been through the night before! Scary, it was only a coupla hours from where we were staying. Also stopped at a Walmart or something too.. I'm not entirely sure I slept through most of the day. Back on the bus we watched Talledaga Nights, and then went past the track that it was filmed at. Finally in Dallas. Before arriving at the hotel, we stopped to have a look at these bull statues... Apparently it was something like that land was where they used round up cattle or ... read more

Was woken up early by those going on the hot air balloons. Went back to bed and got up and packed to be back at the bus by 9.15am.. which was a sleep in compared to other days! On our way to Amarillo, we stopped in Sante Fe which is a really cute little town. Didn't see too much, but we did go into the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church which was really pretty.. They also had some live music in the main square so that's pretty cool :) Back on the bus and Varsity Blues was put on.. I think i slept through it coz I couldn't tell you what happened. Had a quick stop in Santa Rosa, then back on the bus again... Finally arrived in Amarillo, Texas. We stayed at a place ... read more

Up early for the bus. We stopped in Durango. Here there was 3 options. White water rafting, ridee some Jeeps, or just have a look around town. We did the Water Rafting. I was pretty nervous, as was LV coz last time she did it she drowned and had to be revived. It was the tamer than a ferris wheel. I was actually pretty disappointed. I would not have called it white water rafting - it was floating down the river in an inflated boat. Look, it wasnt that bad... Just wasn't what i expected. It was lovely and relaxing. Not extreme like advertised. Had a bit of lunch then headed back to the bus. We watched the end of Forrest Gum which we missed the day before. Then watched National Lampoon's Vacation. Just quietly, that ... read more

Hungover! Bad too =( Serves me right =P Went and had brekkie but couldn't eat much. Quickly packed and got on the bus... I realised I left my cardigan in our room which I'm actually pretty upset about. It was the Intimo one... Slept on the bus. We had an early lunch stop, in Kayenta, Macca's of course =P Again didn't eat much, just had a coke, and a couple chips. Back on the bus, then did a tour of Monument Valley. By the time we arrived there i felt fine... The we got onto this little buses and went down the bumpiest road ever. It was bumpier than rollercoasters. So then started feeling really sick. It was good seeing all the different shapes in the rocks... However, really sick of rocks by this point. Got ... read more

Got up and used our brekkie vouchers, i only had toast and some apple juice. We got on the bus at around 9.15am and headed to a small airport where we took helicopter rides over the Grand Canyon. It was incredible!! I was a little nervous having never been in one before, let alone over the Grand Canyon!!! On our way back to the lodge, we got a photo with the Grand Canyon National Park sign. We got back and some crazy people decided to go for a hike down the Canyon. I chose instead to catch up on some sleep. When they got back, I got some sun with the girls, went to the shops to buy some grog. We watched the sunset over the Grand Canyon at Hopi Point. Beautiful, tho by this point ... read more

Up early not feeling the greatest, but still OK. We used our Contiki free brekkie vouchers at Coco's. Nothing to exciting there. Got to the bus, two people missing... Nathan and Tim! I seemed to be the only one game enough to see where they were. Both still in bed and I nearly got my face slammed off by the door when Nathan found out they were supposed to be on the bus... Bloody poms! Anyway, after a short delay we were on our way. Goodbye Vegas! =( Our first stop was at a Walmart somewhere just past the Nevada/Arizona state line. We only stayed there for about an hour. Next we stopped in Seligman, “Birthplace of Historic Route 66”. Took a few photos. As we were approaching the Grand Canyon National Park, the scenery changed ... read more

Day 7 - 24/07/09 Vegas After the day before, it's needless to say we missed brekkie. We were up at around 10.30. All were struggling majorly! Sometime around lunch, Mich, Lauren and I headed down to some shops on the Strip. Didn't stay very long and went to maccas. Felt sicker after maccas so headed back to the hotel and had another sleep. Christina had organised a variety show and another club for this night so we got ready and started feeling better. V the Variety show was fantastic. It had an magician, gymnasts, jugglers and more. It was so great. Way more entertaining than i thought it would be, so that was good. The club we went to was at the Luxor, called the Cat House. The name should probably have given it away, but ... read more
