Our last day at sea we followed the Mexican coast of the Baja California coast. Sweaters and long pants are in order as our top temperature of the day is 16c. We ordered breakfast in again today and spent most of the morning packing. We all ventured out to the Onboard Outlet sale but this time I was not tempted by anything. The rest of my morning was spent in the Casino waiting until we could go in to lunch which was one of the best yet (liver fried onions and bacon). After lunch we went back to Leisa’s and visited in their room. We are always watching the water and Rick spotted a whale we all rushed out n time to see this huge creature and the spry from its blow hole. Then we spotted ... read more

Again I was up at 5AM, I love watching the ship coming into port. The sun is not up yet so all you can see is the lights as we come in slowly to anchor at 6:24. Since this port is small there is no place to dock so we had to take a tender from the ship. We were anchored by the spectacular arched rocks of Los Arcos where the cool Pacific waters merge with the Sea of Cortez. This area was once attached to mainland Mexico. Millions of years ago a vast crack in the San Andreas Fault created the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific rushed in severing the peninsula from the mainland. We left the ship around 8AM and I was very excited to see a sea lion as we came into ... read more

I woke this morning at 7 and still feel a bit of this cold or flu, but it is a slow day at sea so I have recuperating time. We ordered room service for breakfast on our deck, and WOW! We hear this crack by the ship. Two large dolphins were playing just by us and the cracking sound was their bodies hitting the water. It is so exciting to see these beautiful mammals in the wild. I have decided sea days are good for the rest but after 11 days they get boring I know we will never sign up for a world cruise. I find the ship confining once you have experienced everything it has to offer and prefer the adventure on land which is much too short in most cases. Throughout the day ... read more

I woke up with Acapulco at my doorstep, it is much nicer than I imagined. I would have been excited to go exploring but I think I am getting a cold. But, up I got dressed and had breakfast at 7 in the buffet. We met Rick and Leisa and together we left the ship. Another cruise ship was parked in front of us and then I realized how beautiful the Princess ship was in comparison. A Mexican man came up to us, he was an official walking tour guide. He only whatever we wanted to give him at the end of the day, even $1 would be enough as he only wanted to feed his family. I wished I was feeling better, I had a fever and the temp was already 30C and the sun ... read more

The waves and wind were high on the open sea so the ship went closer to the shore for the morning. Forecast for the day 27C. I did not have a good start to my day. They forgot to bring our breakfast and I was in no mood to go down for it. We ordered coffee and laid in bed and read. I had a good cry, wished I was there no mater how wonderful our experiences are, there is no replacement for family at Christmas. Enough sadness. We have spotted many huge sea turtles and dolphins already today. I decided it would be easier if I just avoided the whole Christmas thing today; we got dressed and went to the Casino….no Christmas there. I invited everyone to our room or cocktails at 4. I finally ... read more

Today we set a northwesterly course passing the coast of Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala. The temperature got to 82F or 28C for my fellow Canadians. We decided to do something special today so we went to the front of the ship and had Eggs Benedict looking out over a clear blue sea. After breakfast we changed into our swimsuits and got a book. We spent the whole morning lying by the splash pool. I did manage to get a real bad burn on my legs which was definitely a first. I did avoid Christmas activities as much as I could all day, it lets the sadness creep in to not be with you all. After lunch I was back at pool side. It was interesting one of the crew members came out and stood using ... read more

5AM I woke looking forward to Costa Rica. Our boat was already docked at the port of Puntarenas. The peer is so long that it can hold 2 ships of this size, there is actually a shuttle provided to take you to the town. It is a beautiful sunny day 31C, the port is beautiful with coconut palms and small buildings, it looks like a small island there is actually 4000 people living here. Costa Rica was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1502 he named it Costa Rica which means Rich Coast. The people, were mainly farmers but those numbers were depleted when they were introduced to European Disease. They declared independence from Spain in 1821. Coffee had been introduced from Cuba which now plays an important role in their economy. This port was once the ... read more

We woke this morning at 5AM; the time changed again which it did frequently on this trip so it was hard to keep a schedule. We are on our way too Costa Rica following the Panama coastline. Breakfast was spent on our deck and we were very excited to see three dolphins swim by. They were jumping in the air and came down with such a crack we could hear it from our deck! We spent a leisurely day at sea just relaxing and eating it got up to 28C, around 3:30 we entered Costa Rica waters. There was a full moon tonight over a beautiful calm ocean. I am very excited about getting to Costa Rica tomorrow. ... read more

Dec 21st Puerto Amador and Panama City We left the ship this time by tender (lifeboats that were lowered from the top of the ship). It was a twenty minute boat ride to the terminal, but enjoyable when it is 83F outside. It was an interesting ride over on the boat Rick came over and took our picture and then Wayne came over to take our picture on the boat. The two guys that were sitting beside us said “Are you famous”! Of course, Ron said “Yes, in Canada we are” The guys actually sympathized with us and cursed the paparazzi. We spent sometime trying to get a tour to Embero Indian Village. Leisa had found a beat up taxi around the side of the building for only $25 a piece. When we went over to talk to him, ... read more

Cartegena Columbia Amazing morning, it is hot and muggy. Expected temperature today is 29C and very little cloud cover. We passed through a narrow channel called Bocachica which is 9 miles long to our berth. We slowly travelled through with Fuerto San Jose on our side and Fuerto San Fernando on the other. You can imagine the Pirates trying to come in here past these forts to raid Cartegenas great walled city, this happened over a period of 200 years. This city was so good at defending itself that in 1741 when England attacked with 24000 men and 186 ships they were successful in defending against this great force. We left the ship right at 9AM and walked through the terminal and a beautiful park. Once through this area we were bombarded by taxi drivers all ... read more
