Hi all, This blog is from our latest trip to Indonesia in June! Once again, we had a few really slow weeks here at work due to the majority of our students taking time off to study for their final exams, so we took advantage and hopped on a plane. Although we only had about a week and a half in total to travel, we managed to visit three different islands in Indonesia and see / do quite a bit! Our first few days were spent in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. Our first impressions of Jakarta were good and [View Full Entry]

Going through immigration in South Korea, ready for our transport into North Korea!
Hello everyone, This blog is about our recent weekend trip to North Korea! I'm sure most of you have all heard about the latest commotion over the recent tragic shooting of a S. Korean female tourist in North Korea? (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25634009/) Well, that is actually the same tour that we were on - about a month earlier. Now the tours are temporarily suspended until the North agrees to cooperate with the South in further investigating this unfortunate murder. We went in the middle of June - and although overall we thought the S. Korean company Hyundai Asan played too much o [View Full Entry]

Our First "Adventure Korea" trip - Ferry riding, Caving and "3 Weird Rocks" on the River Hello everyone, So, this blog is about our first "Adventure Korea" tour experience - a day trip to Chungji Lake, Kosu Cave, and then finally, over to have a look at the "3 weird rocks" on the river. "Adventure Korea" is a tour company for foreigners living in Korea. They have a website that Larry and I always checked out, and we thought their tours always looked really fun, but we never gave them a try. That is, until our friend Marie recommended them to [View Full Entry]

Howdy folks, So, oops...made a mistake....these are actually some more fun things we did in the month of May. Enjoy! The Rick Thomas Magic Show: Starring Gretchen!! Ironically enough, a childhood friend and fellow dancer - my friend Gretchen - came to Korea for about a month last month. She was performing in "The Rick Thomas Magic Show" at Olympic Park here in Seoul (as well as a few other locations), and coincidentally was staying only about 10 minutes away from our apt. in Gangnam! Well, this was a wonderful opportunity to catch up with her, as we got to go [View Full Entry]

A Couple of May Celebrations~ Hello again, Here are some photos from some festivities that we celebrated in May - Having drinks with the assistant producer and some of the cast from "Boom Boom Musicland" and Larry's big 33rd birthday! Castle Praha: On this night, Larry, myself, and Michael (the other main character of "Boom Boom Musicland") & his family, met up with our asst. producer - SangJoon and his girlfriend - for a night of dinner, drinks, conversation and, of course, karaoke! We went to a really cool place in the Hongdae area - known as Castle Praha[/i [View Full Entry]

Singapore - Part II So, despite the long-awaited anticipation, here's the rest of our trip in Singapore... Day 4: On this beautiful day, we got an early start once again, and this time hopped on the subway train and then a bus - to go to Singapore's famous Jurong Bird Park. This park was really special because it had a lot of exhibits where you could actually walk right into the environment of the birds and interact with them (feed them, etc.). There were also some shows that we caught that were pretty spectacular. By mid-afternoon, despite all of the mosquit [View Full Entry]

SINGAPORE At the end of April, Larry and I were lucky enough to get a week off at our school (most of our students had time off to study for their midterms), and so we decided to get out of Korea for a bit and head to Singapore! Here are some pictures and stories from our fabulous trip... Day 1: On our first day in Singapore, we decided to get up early and first check out the area around our hotel (The Golden Landmark Hotel) - Arab Street and the famous Masjid Sultan Mosque. Here, I had to wear a lovely [View Full Entry]

Hello friends, This blog is about the latest Korean TV show I was in - called "Boom Boom Musicland." Actually, this was the 2nd season of the same show I did at the end of last year, and so, I guess technically it's "Boom Boom Musicland 2." Hehe! Anyway, for those who didn't know, Boom Boom is a children's educational show on EBS (a HUGE educational network here in Korea), where I teach children English through singing and dancing. There is also a story in every episode, but considering the entire show is only 10-minutes long when it airs, they seem [View Full Entry]

This February, Larry and I were very lucky to get a week off from work due to the big Korean holiday: "Seol-nal," otherwise known as the Solar New Year (or Chinese New Year). Excited to get away for a little rest and relaxation, especially after the extremely busy month we had at the academy where we work, we decided to check out an island in the Philippines just south of Manila - Boracay. Well, needless to say, this very Westernized island had all the ingredients necessary for a perfect vacation...including great weather, delicious food, massages on the beach, and a perfect [View Full Entry]

Christmas 2007, Seoul OK...so Christmas is the main theme of this particular blog, but because we haven't published a blog in quite some time now, Larry thought we should add a few more pictures that we had floating around. So, the first few pictures, although random, are some things we were up to before Christmas time....having lunch with some of our E.V. friends in Seoul at one of our favorite restaurants ("Mad for Garlic"), working at our new workplace (a private English academy in Daechi-dong, Seoul), and seeing our friend Brad in one of his bi-monthly shows with SCI (the Seou [View Full Entry]
