Hello all, So, after a brief dilemma with the TravelBlog site (and having lost and having to repost the pictures on many of our blogs!), we're finally back in business. This blog is about a road trip we took back in June with Ben & Kim to Mt. Sorak and Sok'Cho Beach! We started off one morning on our drive to Sok'Cho that was supposed to only be 5-6 hours, and ended up being a lot longer because we took the wrong route. We were going through curvy backroads and going up & down mountains so steep, we didn't think our [View Full Entry]

Hey, Before we started writing our series of China blogs, we thought we should get this one out first...as it's already a little delayed! This blog is from when Larry's brother Sean, and his friend Carl, came to visit us from Japan! Unfortunately, we were a little pooped from already having my brother here for the 3 weeks prior to their arrival, and especially from our China trip, but we pulled it together and had a great time with them! On the day that Sean & Carl arrived in Korea, Larry and I picked them up from the airport and we [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone, This blog is not one of our ordinary blogs, but actually a tragic part of history that continues to live on to this day. Some of you might not be aware, but the city of Paju (where we currently live and work in S. Korea) is very close to North Korea. And ever since the Korean War ended over 50 years ago (1953), the unfortunate split between the people, the government, and especially the way of daily life of these two peoples continues to be divided. When Danny came to visit us last month, we took a special tour [View Full Entry]

SHANGHAI: May 14th- On this day we arrived in the bustling city of Shanghai. We met our tour guide Wendy, who took us to our hotel and got us checked in...and then the rest of the day was ours. After grabbing a quick bite to eat at KFC, we did a little exploring on our own. After visiting Qi Bao Old Street and not really being too impressed, we decided to wander over to the infamous Hengshan Road (a popular street for dining, drinking and clubbing) for some drinks and dinner. Unfortunately, we underestimated how far Qi Bao Old Street [View Full Entry]

This afternoon we arrived in Guilin and met our new tour guide, Angela, at the airport. Angela took us to our hotel, and also recommended a great sushi place for dinner that night, as well as an an AMAZING place we could go to get really cheap massages! Needless to say, our first night in Guilin really made us enjoy this new Chinese city!! May 13th- This was one of my most favorite days in China! We started the day off with a lovely lunch cruise down the Li River, where we saw all of Guilin's beautiful nature, breathtaking peaks, and [View Full Entry]

May 10th- On this day we traveled from Beijing to Xi'an, and we arrived there later that afternoon. Once in Xi'an, we were picked up and introduced to our next tour guide, Emily. Emily took us to our hotel and got us checked in, and then we were on our own. That night we found a delicious restaurant down the street, with a nice mixture of spicy Chinese food and sashimi. Afterwards, we got some sleep for the big tour ahead of us the next day! May 11th- On this day, our only FULL day in Xi'an, we had many things [View Full Entry]

BEIJING: May 6th- We arrived in Beijing late in the evening and met our Beijing tour guide, Michael, who ended up being the coolest tour guide of our entire trip! Michael and our driver then took us to our hotel, which was only minutes away from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. We got some rest before the first big day of our tour! May 7th- On this day we were picked up early to begin our tour. We started out at Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the WORLD, and then walked across the street to the Forbidden [View Full Entry]

Hi everyone! This blog is about my brother Danny's visit to S. Korea and all of the fun things we did. We definitely ran ourselves ragged because we did so much while he was here, but we had a WONDERFUL time! Literally, we filled every day we had off with him to the brim, and even planned a 2-week vacation to China over that time... In total, he was here for nearly the entire month of May, and even though we were pretty much exhausted for the whole month, we enjoyed having him here very much and were sad to see [View Full Entry]

Hello all, In April, myself, Larry, and our friends Ben & Kim, decided to go to a big traditional Korean festival down on the southern coastline: The Jindo Mysterious Sea-Parting Festival. This world-famous festival occurs only once a year, when the sea parts and reveals a path the length of 2.8 kilometers and the width of 40 meters. It is exposed between Hoedong-ri, Gogun-myeon and Modo-ri, Uisin-myeon because of the tide differences in the morning and evening. According to the legend, an old lady, who was left alone after all the Jindo villagers took shelter in Modo when dangerous ti [View Full Entry]

Hey Everyone! How are you all doing? We're great, but we'll admit that it's been awhile since we've added a blog, and now that Danny's here for a visit AND we're going to China in a few days, we realized that we better get this site up to date. So, this is a short blog from almost a month ago...a day where we spent the afternoon admiring the beautiful cherry blossoms and celebrating our friend Kim's birthday! We headed to one of the most popular places to see the cherry blossoms - Yeouido Park! Yeouido Park is right along the Han [View Full Entry]
